I received a call from 816-892-7002 7 times today. I answered once this morning when they called from a local number 3 times in a row. Person stated he was with Oakwood and he had a claim against me and he needed to verify my address. I asked him what the claim regarded and who initiated it. He refused to answer and gave me another number to call. I told him if he could not tell me who he was or what the claim regarded we were ending the call. He tried to give me another number to call but I refused and hung up.  I blocked the number. They have tried to call multiple times since then but is blocked.

I have been receiving the same calls from this company.  They have even called my parents house stating that they are going to serve me with papers.  First they called from a local number and stated I had a claim number and that I needed to call the 1-877-782-3578 number immediately to verify my home and work address so that they can serve me with court papers.  When I just called the number back, it is the Oakwood Firm.  I will not be setting up anything with them.  What should I do?

I have been receiving calls from an Andrew claiming to work for oakwood firm. I first get a call from a local number stating that I have been notified and given a number to call which was 877-769-0398 of course I called and spoke with a gentlemen named Andrew stating I owe 800 dollars for a payday loan I took out oct 2012 and if I didn't settle or make payments I was going to be in trouble. Of course I was scared and willing to work with the company but later found out it is a scam they can not threaten you with legal action. received another call today with again a threating message from Andrew and stating to call him from now a new number 1-877-782-3578. What can I do ? I don't want to change my number I already had to change my bank information because I gave them my debt card luckily nothing has been taken out.

I received a call from a local number, same as the above posts indicated they wanted to verify my identiy . I was scammed once by a similar situation and knew right away not to fall for it. But of course was still a little scared, the lady gave me a number of 877-769-0398 and told me to call there to verify the info, I called and it said Oakwood, the man who picked up the phone was "Evan " i hung up immediatly. Im not falling for this nonsense again... good luck everyone.... just wanted to add another telephone number to the list....

Was contacted by a local number (415) 737-0543 by a man that claimed his name was Roy Chelson. He said he worked for a processing firm and had a claim against me. I should call 877-783-2725 (Oakwood Firm) to deal with this before I had "to appear".  Was very skeptical because he couldn't answer any questions and just harassed me- calling me continually. Could see that "Oakwood firm" had some scammer issues and that they change their number often. My lawyer asked me to ask questions like "What is the physical and mailing address of Oakwood Firm" "What is the name and address (Physical and mailing) of the firm that employed them. Contact person at Oakwood, etc. I strongly recommend that you report to your local police anyone associated with "oakwood Firm"and also the state Attorney office.

The good news is you're being harassed by scammers.  The bad news is.... well, you already figured that out - you're being harassed by scammers.  Refusal to MAIL proof of debt and proof that the caller has the legal right to collect said debt means you owe the caller NOTHING, per the FDCPA  (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).  Refusal to give you a mailing address and physical address is also a violation of the FDCPA.  Threatening you with jail time over an alleged debt is yet another violation of the FDCPA.

Next time these morons call you, tell them you're recording them every single time they call, on the advice of your attorney (whether you have one or not) for use in a lawsuit against THEM for multiple violations of the FDCPA.  Please also do report them to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General.  In short, don't let them scare you and definitely do NOT pay them a dime!

Oh, and as for your in-laws - please print out this thread to show that these are scammers calling - you could also make a police report - because the police will also tell you that this is a scam.  Your state's Attorney General will probably also have information to show that it's a scam.

Today I have received 7 calls at work, my ex husband received 6 calls at his work and my ex inlaws received 3 calls from this Oakwood company. All saying I am in big trouble and that I need to get in contact with them or I will be facing jailtime. I called them back scared as hell of course. They had me to the point of getting my debit card out. When I asked what their company name was they said Oakwood Firm. I asked if they could send me some information they said no. When I asked for a website or email they said they are not publically known for security reasons. I then said I am not paying someone that does not exists. They said "Good Luck" and hung up. Then continued to call me and my family. How do I get this to stop? I am in the middle of a custody case and I know my in laws will use this against me when I have done nothing wrong.

I received a called form Oakwood they said that they are going to send me to court and when i ask for their address they said that they can't give to me for security purpose. I never heard something like that when a collector calls you have the right to know their info. also they change the phone number 877-762-4348. I google an nothing shows up just the fraud part.

Received phone calls to my wifes cell and work from a Danica Taylor stating they have a claim against me and charges would be filed for an arrest warrant if I did not call them back. Actually left a voice message which I will be glad to use against them if necessary. 855-298-3415 is the number they gave this time. Also spoof called from a local number. I called them back prepared. The person asked for my case number and then she stated my name. I said only YES. She  then began to ask me if I ever lived at an address that I never lived. I said No, NEVER. She wanted me to verify my birthday or my social security. I stated that I don't give personal information to strangers. I said give me the birth date and I will verify that. She says she can't give out personal information. I stated give me the first 5 of the social. She says she can't. I say well if you can't then neither can I. She then stated that my name is common and their locator may have the wrong person. I just needed to verify. I stated that they needed to have their locator to get the correct information and to cease all further communication with my wife and myself. She the gave a disheartened good luck and hung up on me. They are calling people trying to scare people with misinformation or flat out lies.

Then I gor nervous gave them my info and after looking up the number and seeing this I called her back (extention 306) and told her to cancel my info and my lawyer will be contacting them she saod no reason for my lawyer to contact them. They must have switched up numbers because I got a 855-298-3412 ext. 307 and the initial call was from a lakeville,In number 574-203-0356. They called me a few weeks ago and they've been calling my wife everyday.

Keep getting a call from a lady from a 801-660-4970 number in kaysville, utah that is looking for a friend of ours. Said that my friend has some charges against him and that he needs to contact this firm at #855-466-5212. At the time I was just like what the hell how did she get our number for him. They called the next day and talked to my husband they started getting mad when he was asking more questions as to how they got our number for our friend. They said this was the only number they have for him but they don't know his last name.

I have received the same calls. They were calling my ex-husband, with a threatening message, and that I owed a debt, and a warrant would be issued. I advised him to send me paperwork stating what the debt and was and whom it was owed. His response, we will not do that, we will not give you a chance to defend yourself. My response: So I am just going to send you a check, right, where are they doing that at. He then advised me a locator will be callling me to serve me, again, where are they doing that at.  I told them, ok, he tried to raise his voice, I laughed at him,he wished me good luck, and I wished him good luck as well. I just received 2 calls this morning from this 615 526-6632. I will not answer. Oh well!!!!

I received a call from an orginal number of 469-844-3154, a person named Eric Jones said their office had just received my case for charges and they wanted to verify my address so that they could present me with documents.  I refused to give them any info and was driving at the time so I hung up.  I then received consecutive calls on my phone from 936-372-6261, 803-334-0548, 302-223-3682, and 469-844-3154.  When I was later at a point when I could call back each of these phone numbers said extension 500 could not be reached.  I called a number left on my voice mail of 855-446-5212 and a gentlemen, Evan extension 305, would give me no information on who they were (other than Oakwood a processing firm), what charges they were speaking of but he only wanted to verfiy "my identity" by me giving him my address so they can serve me with documents.  When I said I would not provide him with anything unless he answered my questions he hung up on me after wishing me good luck!  so sad....
