Debt Collector
I received a call from a KATE WEST about a debt so I called back then I was transferred to a JASON KLEIN who has a direct number to be reached at (323-302-4643) about a debt involving Wells Fargo Bank, (but I had already paid off my debt directly at Wells Fargo bank) they insisted that I owed them money that totaled $1,000+ and that they were willing to cut the debt by half, but my debt with Wells Fargo bank was not even close to the amount they were telling me it was less than $100!! They said that I needed to make a stipulation agreement to cut the $1000+ done to half but with the email they sent of the paperwork it doesn't give detail to what the debt is about and payment options until I saw another attachment asking for credit card information.

Debt Collector
I recently had a situation exactly like everything that is being stated!! A man named Ryan Jones called from 855-547-7871 informing I would be sued, liens against all my properties, tax refunds taken from etc for a debt i actually do have with a bank. But what I found was weird that I asked for a letter stating about the debt I owed and that I would be sued and garnished from my checks. He said I would be served at my job that following monday if a payment for 2,547 was not made. I called an attorney who looked up Lincoln Group and found out they are not license or bonded as an debt collector and is illegal for them to collect money from anyone! Somehow this place got my phone # at work and called to threaten me there too!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Got a call from the 855-547-7871 asking for information about a relative I haven't seen for a couple of years. Said his name was B. Lawson and worked for a private mediation company. He said if he doesn't have the relative contact him in an hour will proceed to serve through the court. Something about a complaint against the relative. When I checked the number it appears to be connected to many instances of debt collection. First I don't think these people should be allowed to harass others just because they may know the individual. It is obvious they are fishing and questionable if the service is valid or the so-called complaint.

I have my attorney looking into them currently, there is no record of this company, nor have I received any documentation. I never had an account with the bank they are saying I did. Curious if your cousin found anything out?

Got a phone call from a local number that didn't leave a message. Then called back an hour later so I picked up. A young lady stated someone was looking to send me some papers what was my address. I said I'll pick whatever it is up. She said well I don't have anything but to call 855 547 7871 and they would know what is about. Not to sure what this is all about ad the address she said she had was an address from over 5 years ago.

Debt Collector
Several people in my family got calls stating I missed a court date and was going to be arrested and everything else. Wanted several hundred dollars that day or they would have to take me to court. Was supposedly for an overdrawn bank account at a bank I have never used. They could not give the account number or my birth date. Account was in my maiden name, I was married at the time. The man was very nasty and threatening if I didnt pay money today. I told him to take it to court. Waiting to see if they try anything else. Said he worked for the lincoln group. Phone answered as corporate office of Ryan Jones.

Debt Collector
This number is for a company that I can't for the life of me even find on Google.  The phone number and the company name aren't anywhere on the internet together.  They told my fiance she owes 2500+ dollars but she could pay a one time fee of $400 now.  We told them to send over the document clearing her from the credit bureau once the payment has been made.  They also gave all kind of ways of making a payment that raised flags to us, like depositing the money in a specific account and then calling them after the deposit has been made.

Nothing seems professional or legitimate about this number or company Lincoln Group NY.  So I have my cousin who OWNS a law firm looking into them as we speak.
