I received a phone call from them telling me that i won a 40$ visa gift card from doing an american survey and that it was free for my use. I knew it was a scam immediately when they asked for a credit card to pay 1 dollar a month for savings. I mean really come on now how do we stop this?

I don't know what to do about this phone call.  I have taken a few surveys and this guy said to call to receive my $40 Visa Card.  Didn't leave a name just the phone number and what I would get.  Hmmm, don't think I will call back.

I actually got a call from 434-214-0613, they left a message about a $40 visa card or something, saying I had to call the 855 number. The first number represents probably a facility in Fork Union VA. I am not going to call either numbers back. Definitely a scam.

I called the 855 number for the $40 visa card and I gave the man my information. He asked for my card number, my name, and my expiration date and my birthday. he told me that they would continue to charge me 19.95 a month for the dollar coupon book that they were offering. I said what is the number to cancel he didn't want to repeat the 877 number but he said it again with a slight attitude. The number was 877 488 9487 which is a number that is not in service. I was so upset. I immediately called my bank and cancelled my card because they are SCAMMING PEOPLE!

Wow ... that's pretty harsh.
And as far as the reference to 'our forefathers' ... While they had astonishing minds and great passion, they lacked either the foresight or misgiving of just how much their basic principles would be BASTARDIZED in the name of 'love of country'. I'm going to quote a movie here, and it is so apropos it's more than a little scary ...

How can you claim to love America, when you so clearly hate Americans?

Ignorance and outrage seem to be the flavor of the day as of late.
Enjoy your bliss.

I just got a call from  855-556-2220. I didn't recognize it so it went to voicemail. They said I won a $40.00 visa.  When I called they said they wanted to verify my email address. They had it right! (I don't do online surveys.) Then she wanted to verify my name and I said if she had my email she must have my name.  She also had that. She then proceded to tell me about a FANTASTIC deal they had for some discount entertainment club.  She wanted my credit card to process the $1.00 for a 30-day trial. I said you called me to say I won a visa card. I am not goning to pay for anything. She told me to wait a moment then an electronic voice came on telling me to enter the confirmation # from the mail piece I received.  They asked 2 times then disconected. SCAM

I don't understand what they get out of it other than having us get upset. I think that when we get a foolish call like that we need to pray that they grow up as well as for the ones that set uo this web sight because they are likely the ones behind it trying to play us all as fools .

Every time I get a call like this their is a web sight just like this that pops up.

Hay people, 1+1 = 2. put it together

Got a message on my answering machine from another number (917-398-5596) saying I'd "won" a $40 Visa card for doing some survey I've never heard of.  I tried calling back both numbers a couple hours after they had left the message, but can only get a message saying they "don't recognize the number I'm calling from" and asking me to re-enter my number.  So i did - twice - and then some creepy female voice comes on and says "goodbye."

Weird scam.  I've never had one where they refuse to take any of my information even...Guess they know that I'll at least answer their calls now, which I don't really mind, since often find these scams entertaining when you get a live person.  :-)

I beg to differ.  I frequently enter various contests and I do win from time to time.  The key is COMMON SENSE.  I only enter through reputable companies like Coca-Cola, Clorox and many others and through their company websites.  The problem is that many people just don't have the judgement skills to sift through what is legit and what is a scam.  Many prizes are coupons and vouchers for free products that I just take to the store and my last payout on a survey was $50.00 free and clear for a short survey.  Nobody is going to get rich from this but a freebie here and there never hurts if you know what you are doing. Peace.

My mother in Okeechobee, Florida got a recording on her personal cell phone directing her to call this number to claim her $40.00 visa card.  She does sometimes fill out surveys but she still does not trust contacts like this and rightly so.  She asked me to check it out and yep....it is another scammer.  I HAVE won contests online but the number one thing to remember is that legit contests just mail you the free credit card...you don't have to call any fishy numbers or listen to any sales pitches or give any info.
