Tanya,  if you pay them one dime, you are a fool.  "Confused Carol" is either boosting the scam or incredibly stupid in her business affairs.  These people are feeding you a line to get you to pay up.  Never go to Walmart and get a prepay card for stuff like this.  You might as well call it a gift card because that is what you are about to do.  Check out confusted Carols post....A lot of baggage there...
And Steve hasn't researched anything.  If he has,  he doesn't know what he's talking about. That kind of information can be abtained very easily through public information.  If low life scammers can round up an impressive amount on other people,  don't you think anyone else can too? You had better consult an attorney concerning this.  You already have had several heads-up on what is being posted on this board and  people giving you information to pay it,  like they were close relatives.  Use your head.  People do not come on these boards to encourage others to pay questionable demands.  If they do,  they are boosting the scam to make others think it's okay.....nice payday for them...your loss.
Most attorneys will give you some free advise if you will consult them.  If you just decide to pay these thieves without checking any further than what is written on this board,  you deserve what you are getting in to.
Talk to an attorney or someone else that you know and  trust before going into this.  Hell,  I recommend that you don't trust ME.  Consult an attorney...Know who is giving you information that can cost you a lot of hard earned money..

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

For gosh sakes,  don't send anyone any money without proper documentation and written, verifiable information,  proof and validation of the debt....IN THE MAIL!!!!
Do you owe the debt??   Or is someone calling you to tell you that you owe the debt?
Anytime you read anything on this board that encourages you to pay on something that you are not absolutely positive about.. You are being double scammed.  Don't believe what you read on this board.
Look at some of the posts here.  I smelled a rate immediately.
Good grief,  I think i will go into the scam business.  Looks like a pretty lucrative industry considering the prospect of people out there who are willing to pay any amout to anyone who calls them and tells them that they owe a debt,  or can be scared into paying without totally verifying everything.   And these boosters who come on the board and post to make you believe that it happened to them,  to give you confidence that it is legit.  MY,  My,  My...

I am currently paying a defaulted Title Loan off with this office. From what I have been able to piece together, there are companies across the nation who do out of court mediation. I was very scared to pay anything to anyone who I haven't met in person. Scams happen all of the time. I am an intelligent woman and I made a mistake. This mediation company was able to provide all of my personal information when I asked them to verify what they had listed under my social. I have never had a collections or debt collector be able to review my previous litigation information. Yet, Nationwide did. Even had access to my eviction from when I was in college. After speaking with my attorney and my family I made the decision to obtain a Wal-Mart Money card and make payments to them towards my Title Loan. (By the way, I would not ever get a loan from FAST-BUCKS!!) They repo'ed my car and then tried to sue me. I have now made 2 payments to Nationwide Mediation and both payments have been listed with the name and contact information on the transaction records. It seems to be going okay. I am still confused though, and I will continue to see what pops up on the internet. Tanya, have you made any payments yet? I am curious about how the transaction info shows.

I don't think they are legit. I received a call from them tonight regarding my mother. When I googled the company this site came up first. http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/settlement/california-adrfirm.html I would read this first and then proceed with caution.
