Roy,  I received the exact same call from Christopher Banks saying the same crap except he said he was a private courier out of the county I live in.  I looked up the number he called from it shows to be Bammel, Texas which is close to Houston.  He told me the exact same stuff.

Received a message from Kevin Morgan, 281-377-5921 (Texas) but leaving this number (855) 580-6008 for a call back.  Typical message/compliant.  Wants to deliver papers, need witness and ID, Blah Blah.  Claims failure to respond will result in legal ruling.  They are looking for a relative.  This relative was summoned to small claims court last year by one of another of these debt collectors.  Fortunately we were able to fend them off thanks to the helpful info on the net.  The collector had no legal ground to stand on but scared many of the defendants into settling prior to going before the judge.  This relative neither admitted or denied the debt but asked for written proof.  The lawyer representing the debt collector scream so loud in response (I don't have to show you proof) that the bailiff had to close the door outside the court room.  After returning to the court room, the lawyer turned in some papers to the clerk and when the relative's case was called, the judge remarked to my relative...."Ah, I see your forced a punt....good job".  The lawyer withdrew the claim.

Total scam.  Just got a call from this number and let go to voicemail.  Said his name was Eric Snow and he was a process server with important papers for my signature and he would be at my home tomorrow between 12-2pm.  If I wasn't there these very important papers would be returned to the "county" for further processing.  What a load of crap.  Anyone that is familiar with the "serving of papers" process knows that they DON'T call to let you know they're coming.  Sadly, this will scare some people into their trap.  Phone number he called from was a cell number out of Texas.

I received the same call from a Brian Banks; he said he was a private Pinal County Courier; he wanted me to be available from 12-3, if I needed to rescheduel, he told me to call: 855-580-6008. I needed to so I called, the person said I have no legal action pending. I called Pinal County Court, no legal action pending. PNR associates may or may not be a legitimate collection agency, but they are definitely violating the FDCPA. If you're getting any of these calls, verify it with the court house they claim to be a part of. There is a section in the FDCPA, also, it is about bad checks--certain checks excluded "checks written in accordance with a payday loan or other simmilar transaction". They'll be able to garnish your wages, no doubt; otherwise, they can't touch you.

I am quoting a message I received.
"Hi, My name is Christopher Banks (281-377-5921, Texas number). I am a private courier out of Alameda County (He pronounced Alameda wrong). Give me a call in regards to sealed documentation that requires your signature. You will need to make yourself available tomorrow between noon and 3 pm with 2 valid forms of ID and as well as a witness present to sign off on the documentation. I am assuming you will be at work at this time, so I will be stopping by there first. If you aren't there I will be speaking with a supervisor to tell me a good time you (emphasis on the you) will be there. Then I will be heading out to your home. If you aren't there i will be heading out to a family members house to cover all boundaries and see if any of them can help. if you must reschedule or reverse my appearance to these places you must call 855-580-6008 (PnR Associates). If I fail to locate you for any reason I'm gonna have to mark these down as a direct refusal to comply which may ultimately result as a failed appearance as well as final and further actions. Other than that though make yourself available and I shall see you soon."

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Thanks John,
We got one of these calls...very nasty threats. We don't owe anyone or know of any suits against us, so were really aghast at this message. We did call the number they left & threatened them back. Thought I would google to see what this number was assigned to & saw your response. This is helpful

This is a scam. They are trying to scare you into settling a bogus debt out of court by threating to show up at your home, work, and relatives to serve you legal paperwork. Obviously if you were going to be served with papers the last thing they would do is tell you where and when they would be showing up.
