I am David of Arbitronix. we have a number of clients who have borrowed on line via Everest and others now being pursued by Mariner which according to what we know, a completely bogus collection entity more than likely off shore. if not, they could not get away with the threats of suit and attorney general complaints and other fraudulent accusations. total violation of the FDCPA, the problem is, since they are probably out of the country, who do you complain to?

Suggestion:demand validation. demand communication in writing. Be sure they do not have any ACH ability to hit your bank. demand fax number. demand street address. if they say they are owned by attorneys, demand who or what law firm. demand name of one attorney and a phone number.

As far as money is concerned, this is my take as an expert in the field, not meant as legal advice, to wit: if they are phony, their clients are just as phony so you need to ask for a copy of the license and bond as registered in your state.    just say....as we say... our clinets are willing to pay...yes, the client wants to pay and will do so just as soon as you provide to us a copy of the license and bonding for  X state and a copy of your collection agency license for your state and the name of the bank where you have your trust account. with this info, we are delighted to pay.

This Company is a scam run by a scam artist. after much searching my attorney has identified this Mariner group. Hope this brings justice to those in dire straights. I had $719 robbed from my account only to wait a month to get it credited back to my checking account. they run from a shell company :

This company call me and said that will take me to court if I don't come to term with the agreement for the payday loan that I never had. I look them up and nowhere to be found. It came up under the BBB and show a address and I look up it and it a UPS store. I verify the address with the UPS store and they do have a box with that suite number on it. I call the place and they said they are in a Commercial building business type. I ask these people to send me paper and they said they sent it to me in September and I ask them to send it to me agene and they said they cant if I willing to pay the debt then they will sent it to me via email only.

Ms Atkinson called me after I wouldn't return calls to two men from Mariner.  She told me I would be charged with fraud in my county if I didn't pay her over 600.00 today or 1300.00 over time.  She gave me very reasonable payments according to her straight from my account.  Until I saw this site and called her back..Now she wants to charge me with a terroristic threat for what I said I would do to her and her company if they touched my bank account!  Sit back and see what happens.

My Wife got a call from these idiots stating I have a Judgement against me in the court system and my case number is 279639. I do owe debt, but I've not been contacted LEGALLY by these people and they can not provide any specific information that would actually show that they were tasked with collecting it. So, I am not paying shiznit until I see some official paperwork. Thanks for the "heads-up" on these lowlifes!

I  just got a call and they told me i had 3 kids and that is a lie I only have 2 and then he gave a name for a company that has not reached out to me at all. I then let him talk and i was looking up the info on the computor and i told him what i saw about the phone number he gave me and he hung up ha ha ha ha

I got the same call from a Brian Webb said he had some legal docs he was forwarding to placer county and to call him back at this number. Must be a scam.

I received a call from these people because of a payday loan, said I was going to go to court.. I just found this after I have been paying them 575.00 the last couple of months................. what do I do now?? HELP!!

I was a process server in RI for years. Number one rule, you DONT call and warn the person receiving the papers that your coming you just show up! I received the same call regarding the same thing and I laughed at him. He never called back!

I got a call from Allison at Mariner Group 855-587-4854 x326.  She was calling for my husband so I asked her what this was in regards to.  She said a payday loan with Everest Cash Advance that he took out in 2012.  When I explained to her that we had just recently been scammed (by Michael Michael Green 877-744-0178) so I needed to verify some info with her.  I asked if she would send me the original documents that proved my husband took out this loan.  She said she didn't have them only notes from them in her file, which she proceeded to read to me.  I then asked for her physical address.  She asked me to hold.  Came back and said she was transferring my call.  I said you can't just tell me what your address is, she said the computer wasn't working.  I was transferred to Mr. Maxwell in the Recovery Dept.  He also would NOT provide me with the address and then proceeded to get nasty with me, talking over me when I was trying to ask questions.  I finally screamed in the phone and he hung up on me.

Receive daily calls from a company listed as Mariner. The caller says he is Lashon Trap at ext 315 and has leagal documents that will be filed unless a return call from a person that does not live here calss them.

I keep getting phone calls from different people at this # saying that they had 2 pending lawsuits and that I needed to call to take care of this matter right away to prevent any further action and gave me a case # that is not even a case number in any court system.

Report them to whom?

I received message at work from Jessica at Mariner firm 855-587-4854 ext. 332. Saying she had paperwork, I was going to go to court.  I should call her number to resolve this matter.  My x sent me a message through someone who knew me and I called him and he told me this same person had been calling him for a week to get ahold of me.  I told the person to let him know that it is a scam and to watch out himself.

this is now my second call from Mariner Group stating they are invesigating a fraud case involving my ex=wife. they had only MY information and wanted me to contact my ex to have her call the Mariner group to settle the case. caller statedthat they were markuing the case with contact with me to satisfy the company and the court that they had made the contact attempt. checked county records and no court case has been filed. my best guess is this is a crafty way to obtain information from a debt collector. watch for statements implying they are attornies or represent some federal court. they are NOT.  also searched for any information regarding Mariner Group and come up with only investment companies and shipping companies. WATCH WHAT INFORMATION YOU GIVE THESE PEOPLE. GUARD YOU IDENTITY AND THOSE OF YOUR FAMILY

I receive daily calls from this number 855-587-4854, ex 324, Brian Webb is one person, the other I can not under stand the name.  There is also a computer caller 855-714-3585  all threatening calls wiht court actions.
I looked the number up by Mariner and Associates.

i paid these people stemming from a payday loan, now they wont stop calling me saying i owe the interest on a loan...WTF... i didnt fall into the trap..... im glad i read this because they gets nothing.... never do a pay day loan ever....

This is a SCAM! I called Better Business Bureau, my attorney generals office, as well as my lawyer, and all of them have confirmed this not legitimate & is 100% a SCAM!!! DON'T FALL FOR IT!  REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY!

I received a message on my cell phone for another person. She identified herself as Jessica from Mariner Group and said she had documents with a social. They were legal documents and if she didn't hear from this person, they would be processed for court. I'm not sure how they got my number, but will be filing a complaint.

Did they send you the legally required debt validation letter proving you owe this debt to them?  It should have the original creditor, amount owed, date of loan, date of last payment, and also if they are licensed to collect debt in your state.  If they did not mail (not email or fax) this documentation to you, or they refuse to do so - you owe them nothing, per the FDCPA.  You also cannot get a judgment against you without being served a court summons.  

Report the call to the FTC and your state's Attorney General.  When they call back, advise them that your attorney (even if you don't have one) told you to record all calls they make to you for violations of the FDCPA.

Bottom line - NEVER pay anyone just because they have certain information.  Even if you do owe money, they are not allowed to threaten or harass you, and that is what "Angel Martinez" did when he said a uniformed officer would come to your work - this is a classic, ILLEGAL shady debt collectors' tactic.

They are looking for my spouse and calling all his family asking for his ss# and birth date and then when they say we don't know him they threaten them it's this angel Martinez I call the number he left with father in law and its a cell... I called local police department and asked if they had a uniformed officer coming to my home they said no. And took all the info I google the guys name and found this.

do you think that when you give phone numbers to your utility, phone or doctor offices over the internet, is how they got our new phone numbers?    My work number is a retail store but I have had 2 other numbers since 2011.

Angel Martinez told me to call the Mariner group to stop the judgment.   When I called the number,  William Thomas answered but he didn't sound professional.    He just said, "Hello?"   and sounded like he was fumbling with the phone.      Most "legitimate" collection agencies and companies, stores, businesses always have a professional greeting.

I just received a call from Angel Martinez to call 1-855-587-4854 so I did and this guy named William Thomas was polite at first but kept putting me on hold to verify the judgment against me.   After I kept asking him if there was a payment plan, he kept changing the subject and started getting rude.   Martinez said a uniformed officer would come to my work.    Thomas said my address but not my apt #.    I want to know IF this is legitimate, why wouldn't this officer come to my home?   Why my work?    They said I owed $1300.    The most I did get from one of those online cash places is $150.

Tried to tell me I'm going to be taken to court for a payday load I supposedly had taken out... I've never taken out one of those! This is a scam!!!! Don't give them any of your info!!!
