Unfortunatyely the number on the phone you just purchased for your daughter comes from a pool of numbers that were possibly assigned to another phone before the number was assigned to that one. Also, the telemarketers basically start dialing numbers and increment the number by 1 for the next dial.

Today a "Processor" called me saying she was trying to reach my husband and that the "Sheriff" was going to serve him with documents regarding check fraud. I asked where she was calling from and she said she was just a processor, and that the "loss firm" had an active case on my husband. She then asked if I knew 2 people she named (my relatives), and I declined to answer. I asked for the phone number to this "loss firm" and she gave me this 855-596-2702, and she, herself, called me from a blocked number.
I then received a phone call, within minutes, from a relative of mine saying he had been contacted by the same woman who called me asking if he knew how to contact my husband. He gave no information either.
Sounds to me like these thugs get a hold of our credit report and go from there.
Any idea where to report them?

There is a good chance that--
1. Your daughter has a number originally held by someone who owed money or had other problems   OR
2. The calls are done by a computer robodialer that dials all numbers in sequence.  If a certain number continues to call, check with Verizon for a number block.

My 11 year old daughter has been bugging us about getting her a cell phone of her own because her older sister has one. Instead of getting her a phone through the cell phone provider we use & adding her to our plan like we did with our oldest daughter, my husband bought her a Verizon prepaid smartphone. He bought the phone about a week ago & I activated it for her. In the past week since then she has been getting calls from various numbers that we don't recognize. This number is one of them! I just want to know how all of these telemarketers got her number & how they got it so quickly. Does Verizon have anything to do with this? She hasn't went online & put her number down on any website. The only people that know her number is me, my husband, our oldest daughter & a few of her friends from school. So they had to get it somehow via Verizon. Very annoying!

IMMEDIATELY ASK THEM where they are calling from.
THEN ask them what COUNTY that alleged city and state is located in to validate that they actually are calling from there.  I had one call from somewhere in NY, one in FL, one in Michigan, and none of them could name the county they claim they are calling from.
BE PERSISTANT, demand to know what county they are located in, and they will hang up.  Obviously you don't ever want to do business with someone who doesn't know that Miami is in Dade county, if they claim that is where they are from.  TOTAL SCAM!

This call is NOT coming from Wells Fargo- The scam calls are originating in Mombay India. The toll free number starting in 855 has been investigated and then carrier has been identified and the FBI is also working on this company. This company uses many scams- Microsoft scam, lottery, money owed and their newest one- you have a package and it needs to be pre-paid. The best way to deal with these calls- JUST HANG UP!

I just called the number back and opted out. Said w/in 5 business days, but give it up to 30 days - we'll see. If that doesn't do it, I'm going down to a local Wells Fargo office and plant myself until the manager verifies I'm off the callback list.

It's Wells Fargo.  Call the number back and the automated system will give you the option to remove your number from their promotions list.

Telemarketer
I use Google Voice and this number showed up in my spam filter. I blocked all calls from this number. I believe it is a telemarketing company representing Wells Fargo. They called me once, I picked up, the guy asked for my wife and then hung up when I said I was her husband. They called me on my personal cell number. I called back to determine who it might be.

Anyway, they call me at least once a day according to Google Voice. The initial call was to simply confirm my number. I have zero business relationship with Wells Fargo but my wife did. She recently cancelled her accounts. I'll never do business with Wells Fargo due to this kind of crap.

Telemarketer
Wells Fargo - Special Promotion Department

If you call the number back, the system allows you to remove your number from their call list. Wells Fargo is a reputable company so I'm comfortable with that option.

I block them, they have alot of numbers to use. they just dial phone numbers on auto dial on a continous loop. Put them on a forword list to a known recording. I use to use the time lady recording but that is gone now. if you send the calls back to them make sure your caller id is always on block. Or better yet just let them call and never answer. Turn your ringer off at naptime if you have little ones that the phone wakes up. The thing is they won't stop and they sell all of peoples information over and over so someone will always be calling. you can go on the sites on the internet and persue the privacy link and deleate your info from site to site like the address site.......

You'd think that after months and months of being ignored three or four times a day these folks would give up.  When do you suppose telemarkers will get the message that 800 numbers on a caller I.D.are to rational people what yellow fever flags are to pirates.

Even if you block your number and call a number back they can see your number... this happened to me and they sometimes use something on the market the way 911 uses.
