so basically all the elderly people (and others) that are being taken advantage of/scam is just because they screwed up. Number 1 for your information, the economy is bad. Just in case you have mommy and daddy paying your way through law school. People are hurting because of cut hours and loss of pay and even jobs. Hope you find a job when you get out of school. Secondly there are a lot of people out there calling and acting like a bank or a debt collector and once they get your information, next thing you  know someone has their identity stolen. If you really are in law school then I am sure you have covered representing someone whos identity was taken because of a scam. So before you start passing judgment on others, YOU take a look at the facts and google scams and see what pops up. Educate yourself before you try and educate others!

It is not a debt collector, it is a scam. Do not give them any of your information. Look on their 'website' www.jarvisandcohen.com their contact address comes back to a residential neighborhood not even in Kenmore, NY but in Buffalo NY.  and their listed phone number comes back to a person and not the business

These folks are nothing more than scammers.  Said they would take me to court and ruin my credit if I did not pay.  Funny thing is I don't owe, nor have ever owed a bill.  As a fraud investigator, I await my "service" and lawsuit.  Got money that says they never show up or file any court document.  I am begging you to keep one of the "promises" that you made.  I am old, fat and need to retire and this will give me my nest egg to retire on.  For all you folks that posting here or checking on this number, don't be scared of these bottom feeders, they ain't nothin but bark and no bite!

That has to come from the original creditor, not the collector's own skimpy files. This behavior suggests the agency has no proof of claim, so falls back to intimidation to collect, which is already illegal.

No, a collection agency cannot garnish wages, I hope. What I know for sure, is collection agencies cannot extort loans from people by threatening arrests, felony charges, or demand it in full, or else. These threats are illegal. Extortion is illegal, and these payday loan places all have been under investigation for using extortive practices, especially the most direspectful, cruel, and suicide causing Check 'n Go from Hell 'n Back.

I paid 5 payday loans back years ago, and now this parasitical Check 'n Go is back 10 years later trying to make me repay them, saying I still owe them. These people are stupid. I'm going to trace my money orders and bank accounts from way back and bust them.

I'm filing a restraining order on Check 'n Go, because I did call them and they did say the same thing as these rogues. I don't owe the loan. They couldn't show a statement, give me an account number, and hung up on me. They are evil people. I'm not sure why they are still in business, then they'll network for another lying piece of crap organization called NAF, which also got busted by the Federal Trade Commission.

they have probably violated and disclosed your PPI, so put security freezes on your credit reports, file a police report, then take the police report number and tell all your creditors about the situaiton, give them the report number.Most of all, go on to people search websites, and say you want to permanently opt out of all them and do this with a police report. They wont' opt you out for life unless you have a police report.

This Jarvis and Cohen may be making duplicate IDs with people's info, so yes, report this and use your police report to notify the attorney general of your state.

Find the companies information and agent of process on the secretary of states website for your state also to see if they are legitimate, but still, these Jarvis and Cohen idiots aren't really Jarvis and Cohen. Jarvis and Cohen used to be a true law practice. It's still active. I looked them up at the bar for New York, but I don't think these men and woman are Jarvis and Cohen, and if they are lawyers, they're criminal ones.

Extortion, bribery, and falsifying loan statements to force people to pay is not something a lawyer would do, and Check 'n Go is one outfit hiring people to do these rotten things.
