These people keep calling my parents, my cell phone, my brother (who is military and they called him at work, which is an unlisted number!) and a job I haven't worked at in over 5 years! Talk about ridiculous. Won't give me any information on to who or what they are trying to collect a debt on! Told me a week ago they are going to send me a summons and called again today with the same threats. Even threatened to have me arrested for bank fraud.. you can't be arrested on collection of a debt. Won't be sending them a cent!

These people have called me 6 times in the last 2 days, leaving me very nasty voicemails saying they are suing me and I need to call them right away to avoid being arrested, and summons to court. I have yet to call them back, and after reading everyone's post on this thread, I wont be.

They called all my family and i called back they said i have a payday advance from 2012 so i told them to tell me the information and send me paper work she told me a wrong email address, wrong bank account number i told them thats not me she asked how do i know all the family members numbers i said facebook and internet she said how about your ss i dont know you tell me since i didnt have this number in 2012 and now you have it she said see you in court.I dont get how they thing that people are smart and we know our rights. I look up the phone number and all that comes out is fraud reports

They're scammers trying to scare people into paying bogus debts, debts that have already been paid, or debts that they are not legally entitled to collect.  Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Do NOT pay them a dime!  Let your HR Dept and/or manager know that scammers are calling and harassing you.

Law enforcement and the FBI are not in the debt collection business - your caller is a scammer.  Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.

Also just got a call from Johanna Gonzales from Copeland & Associates Law Firm asking us to return their call.  They were looking for my daugher's ex-boyfriend and it was "imperative" for them to reach him about possible charges being brought against him with the district court.  Also asked to reference a case # when we called.  Needless to say after checking here we did NOT return the call.

"Michelle Smith" just called my house for my friend. Freaked my Mom and Grandma out because they said it's about criminal charges from our county. As soon as I came downstairs to handle it, I knew it was a scam, NO county uses a 1-855 number! I called them back and as soon as they answered I said "What is the name of this business?" and they hung up on me. I called back, "Don't hang up on me, tell me what the name of this business is!" She told me to hold. Someone else came on the line and said "Copeland Associates, we're a law firm." Now, I work in a call center and now the sounds of a call center...this is a call center, not a law firm. I went on to tell this person about the threatening and fraudulent message that was left on my answering machine and she still tried to tell me my friend was being brought up on charges with our county. Hello, half my family works for the county!! I promptly told her to take my number off their list and hung up. I filed a complaint with the county, since they were pretending to be them most of the time and filed a complaint with the FBI! I was told by both the county and the FBI to ignore their calls, but ANY messages they leave to keep or record and after I have a few to file harassment charges. Good luck everyone!

I received a voicemail also from investigator lambert and they freakin called my job and told then that legal charges are going against me from my understanding they are not suppose to say why they are calling makes me upset

It just happen to me they are being calling me and threatening me,  with the same subject of a loan that I have to paid $450.00 in a electronic payment please report them it is a scam those people are a fake company. I am reporting them to FBI.

I just got a call on my cell phone something that not alot of people have unless it has to do with my kids, and he said that his name was Michael Lambert and that he is an investigator calling from Copeland Assocs. that i am being brought up on charges of check fraud in my county and that i have to send money via western union. Thing is I was jammed up before with calls like this from like Cash Advance from like 10 years ago. If freaked me out and like an idiot i sent money then i seen it on the news and felt stupid. I dont understand how these people sleep at night especially with the way the economy is and the fact that people have lost their jobs right now....unbelievable.

Just got the same voice message.  First off the name of the person he left a voice message for is nothing close to my name.  Then the hostile message that proceeded told me that I had until 5:30 to deal with two counts of bank fraud or the sheriff would be dispatched to my home and business.  Obviously a scam.  I plan on ignoring it for now but if I receive another voice message like that I will be contacting the authorities.

These ppl called and left messages on my work phone. I spoke with them and they told me I had two pending bank fraud charges against me and they were going to come to my work. I hung up on them repeatedly and a female called and said she wanted to file a complaint against me because I hung up on her. We attempted to trace the call and came up with nothing. I informed my HR department and our IT department. We called the police and filled out a report for harassment. The number has not called back at this point, but my county sheriffs office has the number and has been calling them repeatedly trying to get information about their whereabouts. (im sure he wont get that info). They said they were "Copeland and Associates" and they had several offices in Florida and Georgia. (whatever). They impersonated an attorney, a private investigator and private locator. So far today, I have not heard anything from them. Punks.

got a phone call for  a person I've never heard of, lady said they were part of copeland and associates law firm in New York, stated got my number from the TLO database.  Talked to my ID theft folks and they said to check my credit (you can do free 3x a year), and to put a 90 day fraud alert if I saw anything goofy.  Def scam artists, see if I get a phone call tomorrow, if so going to the FBI and state atn general for missouri.

I just got a call from this number 1 minute ago saying that I have two cases pending and wanna me call back to get help at no charge.

My sister in TX got a call at her job from a guy by the nme of Ryan Chase, who was looking for me.  He stated he was an FBI invesitgator looking to settle a debt.  This person has yet to call my home or work and certanly not my cell.  I have not gotten anything in the mail either.

I keep getting calls from a guy named "RYAN".  What an a**, I called him back to tell him I am not that person and he hung up on me.  So I called the jerk back, and told him I did him the courtesy of calling back it is unprofessional to hang up.  He said we wont bother you agian, and hung up.  What a scam!!!!

I also get numerous calls a day from this number. They leave harassing messages. They also call my family and tell them I am going to go to jail. They have called my employer up to 120 times in one day. Needless to say I work for some attorneys and their number has been blocked from coming into our building. The attorney that I worked for even told them he was filing on them for harassing calls and they wouldnt stop. They threatened to hurt me when I left work for calling the cops and making a report on them. I had to be walked to my car for days. I changed my cell number and they got the new number some how and its not even under my name anymore. I have never had a payday loan or any type of bank fraud and this is what they are alledging. This guy says he is a detective, investigator, police officer. It always changes up. They also will block their number and call and use all kinds of spoofing to try to get me to answer. Its to the point that I am changing jobs because I am tired of the harassment.

Murl don't send them a dime! They are scam artists. They are calling me at work saying that have 2 bounced checks....I haven't written a check in over 5 years! I have been scammed by people like this before. I made a call to my state's Attorney General's office and was told that these scammers can go online and look up old payday loans that may not have been paid off, and they scare you into settling with them. I bet they asked you for your debit card number or they gave you information to Western Union the money to them...PLEASE don't do it!

I will call Monday first thing.  I didn't think this was legal of them.  I have never heard of a situation where they can come to your work and talk with your manager and HR Dept.  I must admit it did have me a little freaked.  I cannot afford to lost my job over some scam company.

I'm reporting them to my state banking dept., as well as the ftc. Who's with me. Anyone can get an 855 number. They do a bit of research and hit up hundreds of victims. If 5% of those people are scared into paying, they prob steal a fortune.

They have left a message on my cell and work number.  I have no idea who they are. They say they have 2 or 3 locators trying to reach me at my residence or my place of business to deliver these impt documents.   They also said in the message that they will be showing up at my place of employment Monday to deliver legal documents to me and that they will be speaking to my HR department and my manager.

This sounded fishy from the start. If u notice, all the comments on here are within the last week. So these "investigators" just started collecting debts? Come on.

I have received two voicemails, both from an Investigator Michael Lambert, stating they are trying to locate me. He mentioned two counts of check fraud allegations, as well as a "possible" failure to appear charge, which makes no sense. If I don't handle this they will have to move forward with the New Haven county (CT) district attorney.

"Investigator Freeman" called what a scam job.  I hope someone turns these low lifes in to the FBI.  I'm 100% sure they are scamming people for $$$

I too received this call. Says we owe $400, and failure to comply will result in legal action. My husband says he has already addressed this once, they had my maiden name, going to call them back again and address this.
