I GOT A CALL TODAY FROM 770.225.1623 WITH A LADY SO CALLED AN INVESTIGATOR MOORE. SHE CLAIMS I OWE A PAST DEBT AND ASKED HOW I WANTED TO RESOLVE IT. WHEN I ASKED HER FOR PAPERWORK CONCERNING THE DEBT I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF, HE SAID SHE COULD NOT PROVIDE ANYTHING WITHOUT RECTIFYING THE DEBT. ONCE I MAKE A PAYMENT OR ARRANGEMENT, THEN SHE WOULD SEND ME PAPERWORK.

I CALLED THE POLICE, THEY CAME BY AND THEY RECORDED A CALL I MADE TO HER. WHEN I TOLD HER THEY WERE HERE LISTENING IN, SHE WANTED TO ACT VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CLAIM SHE NEVER ASKED ME HOW I WANTED TO SETTLE THE DEBT TODAY.

SHE THEN ASKED WHAT I WANTED TO DO AND I TOLD HER YOU CAN SEND ME PAPERWORK SO I KNOW WHAT IT IS YOUR CLAIMING I HAVE TO PAY. I GAVE HER MY OFFICE ADDRESS AND WILL GO FROM HERE, BUT THE PHONE CALL WAS RECORDED AND I FILED A REPORT

For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.

Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt.  Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group.  Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own.  In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.

Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily).  They will normally answer the call back number as ?Investigations?

Reynolds, Hill, and Associates
Berkley and Associates
Kaufmann and Associates
Sanderson Blaine & Associates
Blaine and Associates
McKenzie Reid Associates
Kennedy, Kline, & Associates
Nationwide Asset and Recovery
Piedmont Investigations and Procurement
Raffino, Garrison, & McCoy
Greenman, Schwartz & Associates
McCoy Law Group
Salem Associates
Reynolds and Associates
Ryan, Carter and Fields
Berman, Maxwell and associates

Here is a set of links to a variety of threads on this forum that document this group and its behavior. They include the experiences of victims as well as a former employee or two that quit within a week of finding out exactly what was going on. They also include responses from consumer advocates and people who are really criminal justice professionals advising victims of what to do

My call was from a cell phone but same type of call. it was from 919 275 3126 from a James Bell and they call home and call me at work, before I knew it was this person calling I was at work and answered my phone he asked me to verify who I was and I told him I wasn't verifying anything until they told me what it was about. So then he asked again and I said don't ever call me again at work. well guess what he called again and I recognized the number and didn't answer it. These scammers don't give up, how do they sleep at night is what I want to know. I have had my share of these people and I am fed up.
I don't have any payday loans nor do i owe on any. I am going to do the same as advice did in there message above.
EAch state needs to address these people, because they are criminals.

The funny thing is another company the day before call me ( Gobal Solution ) asking about a payday loan that I supposedly took out and so when I told them that I never took out that loan they told me that they would mark it as a refusal and will have to send it to their Attorneys, so when these fools call me the next day asking about the same loan I said oh u must be the Attorney that's working with Gobal Solution that was quick the guy told me he never heard of them. Geez you would think he would play along. I guess he did something wrong because he hung up before I could say anything else. My problem is when will these people learn there wasting their time with me they have call me using several numbers and several names, I record every single conversation some are so halarious I'm thinking about putting it on YouTube.

Go to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau website and report these scammers.  They are set up by the government to deal with these illegal companies.  Also go to the FTC website and learn about legitimate debt collectors which these are not.  The more complaints the sooner these people will be shut down.

I have been going through the same thing. You need to file a complaint with your attorney generals office and the Bureau of consumer protection agency. You can do so by calling or going online. They threatened me with jail time which is a federal offense says the Ohio attorney generals office. They also told me when they call to give them the number to their office and not to say anything else just hang up. They said I owed them $600 for a payday loan from cashamerica.  I have never taken a loan out from anywhere! They get pissed every time I give them the number to the Ohio Attorney Generals office and start screaming at me in their Indian accent and threaten to come to my work and arrest me in a half hour. Lol! The calls haven't stopped completely but they have stopped quite a bit!

I answered their call today.  The robo said they were trying to reach, "Joe Blow" and that if I did not know Joe to please press '2'.   I pressed 2...then it says, please hold and someone will be right with you.  LMAO
I hung up.
I have been getting these calls for 2 1/2 years.  Home, cell, work, friends, family.  If I ever found these people in person...well, then there may be a REASON to threaten me with legal action. ;~)

Received a call from this number today at work; not sure how they have a work #; they left a recorded VM message- with a 2014-XXXXXX case # stating that I or whomever gets the call needs to call their office today at 1-855-947-7266.  No company name or contact# was left on the VM.  The 1-855-947-7266# also called my work# about 2 weeks ago and left the same VM. I have alerted my boss and the HR department as well.  I am also going to report this phone# to the DNC listing and the FTC; I don't know anyone in SC or NC, nor do owe anyone money whom I am not presently aware of or dealing with.  I am so tired of these kinds of calls.

I received a phone call today at work from this phone number- a pre-recorded message was left stating that they were trying to locate me, and that they have a case# that starts with 2014-XXXXXX, and that I or whomever answers the call is suppose to call their office back today at 1-855-947-7266 which is different than the # that was calling.  The 1-855-947-7266# called and did the same thing about 2 weeks ago.  I don't know anyone in SC, nor do I owe anyone any money that I am not aware of.  I am so tired of these types of scam calls. I will place a block on this phone # as well and report it to the DNC listing and the FTC.

To get rid of these people.  Tell them you want to settle it by going to court.  That is what they are threatening.  Tell them you won't settle it otherwise.  They transfer you from "investigations department" to "closures" department.  The investigator in the closures department tells you what you can expect.  "Two sheriff's officers showing up at your home or work to serve you a subpoena to appear."  So they are trying to get you to pay based on you not wanting to be embarrassed by the cops showing up.  LOL please.  At least then you would get a copy of some paperwork.  They may even tell you that you will be arrested when the police show.  Don't be fooled.  The sheriff's office won't serve you a subpoena.  LOL, that must be done by a private individual or company.  Anyway, once you tell them you want it to go to court, and they take you through the rigmarole of everything that will happen, they hand up on you and you never hear from them again.  They stop calling and no one ever shows up with a subpoena.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you

.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

These people started calling me in December 2011, threatening legal action for a fraud charge over a supposed payday loan from 2007. Same story, pay or go to jail. They call themselves investigators. However, I have been pulled over for a tail light (2012), and the police came to my home for a noise complaint (2014) since then. I believe if there had been any type of fraud warrant, I'd have been arrested when the police ran my name. These people are slimy scammers attempting to extort money anyway they can.

Just got another robocall from 855-651-3951. Again it was to my cell phone.  I have the number blocked, but that just makes it go directly to voicemail and the recording leaves a message about looking for someone named Dennis something or another.  I filed a complaint with the FTC Do Not Call Hotline at 1-800-382-1222 and I played the voicemail message for them. I have found a way to listen to and delete voicemails without using any cellphone minutes. Just call you cellphone from a landline.  Wait until the voicemail greeting starts, then push* and put in your voicemail password.  You can then listen to the message and delete it and it won't charge you any minutes at all.

This number started calling my phone this past week.  They keep asking for another person, someone I don't know with the auto message.  When I press 2 (the option for I don't know this person), they put my on hold.  The first time they called the person said I would be removed from their list.  They just called me four days later and they person searched my number to see if it pulled anything up and said it looks like I have been removed.  Then I asked what kind of a business it was and she hung up on me.  This pissed me off so I called them back.  I kept getting hung up on when I would ask but they would tell me the name of the company was Bailey Rose & Associates or something like that.  I got pissed that I was getting hung up on so I spam called back and hung up on them every time. lol..
