My son continues to receive threatening calls from these people. The lady said he wrote a bad check to his bank....he has direct deposit and doesn't write checks. But to be sure, we called the bank and they have no idea what we are talking about. Please people DO NOT send them any money..none.  They are not bill collectors, only scammers who are trying to take your money. Don't be suckered!  Read the law on debt collection.

Company is calling my in-laws. Scaring them with threats of criminal charges about a loan I still owe. I know better not to ever do take these type of loans again.

Be very careful and always double check with who they are claiming to be and collecting for.  I called the company they claimed to be collecting for and they told me to not deal with them and turn them in and gave me the correct number of who I was to talk to.

I have asked for more information about the same thing with the responce, you have the papers when you got the supposed loan, I am at a loss don't know what they are talking about it has been a few years ago. I feel they should atleast provide some type of proof, if they expect you to give them money.

They said they were Morgan Harris but cller id says Hartford Management under the same phone Number. so are they a attorney office or a management co. because neither will send the information about the suposed loan or any documents to support there claims.

I can't find any entity known as Morgan  Harris.  If you paid them any money, how exactly did you pay them?  If you paid them by check,   what is their address?    

So far as I can see they are  kitchen-table debt scammers who spoof or make up businesses on their caller ID.    Their collection technique is to try to scare people into paying them by threatening them.  Don't fall for it.  .

No they are not, they are a extortion scam operation.. You need to be filing complaints and if you used a DC or CC, file fraud asap. Get those accounts closed and new ones.  One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!

Nonsense.  There's no  "petitioning in the county"  for civil debt.  Most personal debts are under 10,000 and in California go to small claims court where no attorneys are allowed.   You'd have to go to small claims court.  You say you have a date to appear?  Fine.

Mind telling us
1.   What court you are going to appear in.
2.   Name of plaintiff.   Address of Plaintiff.
3.   Name and location of the court and case number.   We'd like to look it up.

You can't complain since the court papers are public record.

A lot of people would like to know exactly who or what the plaintiff is.  Personally I think he's just a two-bid debt scammer.

I doubt that you'll respond.   I doubt there's any court action.   The last thing a debt scammer wants is his name and address made public.

That same woman Rebecca called me today .at first I wanted to blow her off due to the research I've been seeing then she reminded me of a loan I didn't quite finish paying off ,the company charged me a lot of penalty charges ,and she negotiated with the people I owed and brought my balance down by a lot ...I resolved it ,Rebecca was nothing but helpful she sent me a letter and email and now this is done and over with ...thank god!!

Morgan Harris is an investment firm I think for a bunch of attorneys,they are retained by the creditor that wants the back debt ..they can and will pursure if left unresolved ,Morgan  Harris called me a week ago and said the same petitioning my county ,I ignored it cuz I did research ..but today I received documents my court date is on june 17 for San Diego county I'm freaking out ..I should have just resolved it..thanks for the false information!!
