Also an FYI, these numbers all seem to be originating from a VoIP call center in GA, so I've started with the State AG there, and will continue with the GBI as well. As has been noted many times before, their behavior is illegal.

I too had a call from this number claiming to have an "important legal matter" to discuss with me. two calls minutes apart, voicemail left on the second call. I would like to know if anyone has found where they're based, so I can start the complaint process with their state AG's office? I've found that only bringing the "law" down on them puts a stop to this, at least until they move their boiler room elsewhere.

Haha, I have their number blocked on my phone where it automatically answers the call and then immediately ends the call.  They tried 23 times in a matter of 4 minutes to leave a message. I was actually a little entertaining to watch.

What they do is break the law and misrepresents themselves as law enforcement or clerks of some court.  The FACT is they can not issue warrants for arrest nor could they, even if they wanted to file for criminal charges.

Collecting debt is a civil matter not a criminal.  Yes they have a job to do, but just like us we have to; they must abide by the law when doing their jobs.

Please read below the law before you pay what you can afford to pay to a criminal who misrepresent himself at law enforcement:

identity, provided that an employee of a licensed collection agency
may identify himself by using his registered alias name as long as he
correctly identifies the agency he represents;
   (d) Causing a telephone to ring repeatedly or continuously to
annoy the person called; or
  (e) Communicating, by telephone or in person, with the debtor with
such frequency as to be unreasonable and to constitute an harassment
to the debtor under the circumstances.

Had a msg left on my home phone that I need to call this number asap because there was a legal matter that the man (on the phone) says he did not know how to proceed with and told me that I needed to call or have my legal representative call immediately.  This is the number he left for me to call, by his voice, but his call originated from a phone 678 681 9652.  As I have no legal matter pending nor owe any bills, I'm ignoring this obvious shill call.

E-mail that letter? Shouldn't the letter come through the MAIL instead of E-MAIL? Any scammer can send an e-mail but legit debt collectors must send a letter through the MAIL!!!!

THEY NOT BAD FOR COLLECTORS AND ALL...I DID NOT ANWSER AT FIRST BUT THEN I LOOKED UP THENUMBER ON THE WEB AND THEY GOT GOOD FEEDBACK TO BE COLLECTORS AND ALL...I KNOW I OWE THE DANG BILL SO I RATHER PAY UP TO THEM SINCE THEY GIVING 50% SETTLEMENTS...I SETTLED MINE THE SAME DAY I CALLED BACK.  ALSO, STILL GET A LETTER - NO MATTER WHAT HAVE THEM EMAIL THAT LETTER ASAP!  THAT IS YOUR PROTECTION.

Got another debt colletion company calling me.  It was Mr Philips at Chone Swartz first and now its Empire Recovery Group.  Mr Philips was rude and said he was sending me to jail so i gave him my credit card number to make some pays.  It worked, he scared the s*** outa me.  I'm outchea in LA trying to make a dollar and he said he was gonna arrest me.  Now my case is at Empire Recovery Group and they right away offered me a settlement of half of what is owed.  I was like hell yeah I will take it.  They were cool.  The lady was real fair and real cool.  I hate having to pay it but at least I know they not up to no dirrty stuff and threatning me like Chone Swartz did.  I read these things and have posted before but this time I wanna be right and tell yall when someone is out there being fair to us consumers.  We can hate what they do but they gotta a job to do, at least they cool and not mean and all crazy and stuff.  Its all good.  I got it, I woed it, now Imma pay them and save myself some muney.  HA!  COLLECT SOME SENSE MR PHILIPS CAUSE YOU NOT GETTING PAID ON MY STUFF NO MORE - EMPIRE RECOVERY GROUP ARE!
