I received an email about my account may be compromised. I called the number and some guy with an accent aswered. I asked where he was calling from and he said India. I immediately asked for a supervisor. He stuttered and told me to wait. Never came back.

I actually became suspicious because two weeks ago I got some alarm on my computer and called the number. Was stupid enough to allow them to take remote of my computer. I realize it was a fraud when they asked for money. I took my computer in to get it checked out and there was no issues. hopefully it remains that way.

I also received what appeared to be a 'certified' aol security email and became suspicous.  Looked up the # online and did not find it linked to AOL in any way and decided to forward it to tosspam.

Hopefully it will get shut down.

This is the text of the email:

Dear AOL Member

We recently detected some unusual activity on your AOL account.

This type of activity could include spam being sent from your email account, logins from multiple locations, or abnormal international usage. But don't worry! We have a solution.

Change your password today at myaccount.aol.com.

Updating your password will ensure that you are the only one with access to your account.

While we're on the topic, here are a few tips to help protect your account from unauthorized use in the future:

Create a unique password. Avoid using personally identifiable information (such as your social security number) and select a password that contains letters, numbers and special characters. Visit passwordhelp.aol.com to learn more.

Protect your computer. Install software to protect your computer from viruses, spyware, and even identity theft. Learn more at safety.aol.com.

Be aware of phishing scams. AOL will never send an email asking you to click a link to update your contact or billing information. Any updates to your account should be made at myaccount.aol.com.

I recieve an e-mail SUPPOSEDLY from AOL security that contained this number.
The whole mail has now been forwarded to "tosspam" Scary thing is, I noticed when I went back and looked at the mail delivery, there was what appears to be a legit ribbon, that looks a LOT like the one AOL uses to let people know the e-mail is not a fake...it almost had me, until I decided to look at the number and found posts about that number on various sites!!!
