I got this same kind of call, was very suspicious of the heavy India accent from 3 different IT techs at (supposedly) M/S.

I was on phone for 3.5 hours with these guys, after which i figured they must be legit from M/S, as the last guy was so persistent, & so turned my computer  over to them on remote access for 1 hour so they could re-install the "Defender" fire wall which they said had "expired", making my computer accessible to hackers. I'm pretty new to computers, What do I do now ?? please HELP ! t

Thanks.

Received call and was advised that my computers had been hacked.  The first person I could not understand,  Second person came to phone and requested I do several steps on the main computer of home.  As I was getting a bit suspicions and had already provided requested they give me phone number they were calling from I had another member of the home call the number.  Much to our surprise the family member could hear my whole conversation with the other person.  I hung and they called again.  I disconnected phone for a few minutes and haven't received another call.

I got a call this morning. It was a blocked caller ID, which I normally don't pick up.  My caller said his name was Victor, and he had a very heavy Indian or Pakistani accent.  I was suspicious and asked for a call-back number and was given 855-731-4936. He claimed he was from Microsoft Windows and they had gotten "signals" that my computer had been hacked. I asked him what country he was calling from and he said, " the USA, Wilmington, DE."  He wanted me to press the widows key and "R" at the same time and enter a code
( which I did not do) to "check how bad the hacking was". I told him I had to get off and he warned me not to use the Internet, as it was too dangerous, and to call him back. I googled the number and saw what a scam this is! Unbelievable that no one has arrested them.

I got a call today from a man who sounded like he was calling from India. He was tring to tell me a hacker was trying to access my computer.   I asked for a call back number because I didn't trust them.  The number given was 1-855-731-4936.  I called the number and they wanted me to hit the ctrl button and r.  When I asked them what does that do they just kept telling me to hit the buttons.  I told them I didnt trust them and hung up.  EVERYONE should hang up on anyone who wants access to your computer.  I hope this helps someone.

Just got the same call - telling me there are hackers trying to access my computer and I should go to my computer and follow his instructions to see how many hackers were trying to access my computer.  When I asked him how he got my phone number he said that because I am on the internet they have all that information and that he was calling from Microsoft.  When I asked what city, he gave me a US city, Delaware I think - and this phone number.Seemed very odd to me.  When I suggested he might want to access  my computer so he could hack it, he said a hacker wouldn't spend so long on the phone with someone and wouldn't give a phone number.  I don't even want to try the phone number in case I get charged for the call or just encourage them to keep calling.

I received a call today from 855-731-4936. Bunch of guys with Indian accents; lots of chatter in the background. When they said my Microsoft Windows computer was sending them error messages I knew it was a scam, because (a) computers don't send error messages; and (b) I'm a Mac guy. Nice try, scammers.

I also just got a call... the caller ID on my phone said 203-455-2491 and came up with the name Staples.  I also asked for a return contact # and was given 855-731-4936.  These guys insisted that my computer was creating an alarm for them and they were going to cancel my Microsoft License if I did not fix it.  They asked to me to open a "Run" window by hitting the windows key and the letter "R" simultaneously and then they wanted me to enter the web address: "www.tts247.com" - I tried calling back and they did answer but it's definitely some kind of scam.  I called the number on the caller ID and it was a voice mail of a normal sounding person.  These guys sound like they're in a barn in Bombay.

Just got my first call from "Edward".  Very thick and difficult to understand accent.  He started the call by telling me he was getting reports from my computer that it was downloading harmful material.  He was persistent in his attempts to get me to go to a website (never got the address) to see what was supposedly going on.  I immediately question who he was and why he was calling.  He also claimed to be with Windows and was a licensed representative of MicroSoft.  (Is anyone really WITH Windows?)  I told him I would not give him access to my computer and he claimed he only wanted to show me on a website what the report was telling them.  He claimed to have my license information but when I asked him to identify who and where I am, it took multiple requests before he did actually give my last name and home address.  (Probably after enough time to look up my info on the internet.)

I kept asking for more details to verify who he was.  He did not seem to appreciate this and got very upset when I told him I needed to confirm that this was a legitimate call.  He finally gave me 855-731-4936 and told me his name was Edward.  I asked for a reference number to give the person who would answer to access my account.  He told me to just ask for Edward.  I explained that this was not sufficient enough to confirm who he is.  He asked me to hold.  I could hear him talking to someone in another language, and I thought I heard him say "confirmation" several times.  He came back and told me I just needed to ask for Edward.  I told him this was not going to confirm anything.  I need to be able to call back and talk to someone else who can collaborate his story.  I told him this is what you do when you want to make sure it's not phishing.  I told him this was an odd call and I needed to be smart and check.  He seemed upset that I didn't believe him and that I thought the call was out of the ordinary.  I told him in today's world where hacking, phishing, and identity theft are an issue, it was my responsibility to do what I could to make sure this was legit.  He was offended and asked if I was calling him a hacker.  I told him I couldn't say if he was or wasn't, that's why I wanted to check. He returned to his attempts to "help" me.  I told him to take my number out of his system.  He said what I'm sure were a few choice words in another language and hung up on me.

Like many of you, the first thing I did after the call was google the number and here I am.  I wrote the whole call in hopes of helping others realize these people are determined to hack your computer and probably ruin your life.  I plan to keep giving them a hard time every time they call.  Good luck to all of you!!!!

Just received a phone call and got my brother instead of me since I'm at work. This one told him he was with HP and they were receiving a bad signal from my laptop and they need to check it. They asked my brother to turn it on and he said he doesn't have it and I'd have to call them back. Just tried calling only because I recently had my laptop in at HP for repairs and got a message saying the person you're trying to reach on the other line. I immediately thought it might be a scam because of the accent used on the recording. I of course checked here and found that it probably was a scam.

On Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 1200 PDT, I received a telephone call from "Jack" at 213-271-1645 on my caller ID.  "Jack: had an extreme non-English language accent, and it was very difficult to understand as he repeatedly ID'ed himself from Microsoft, and they tracked my computer ID that I have a virus or something which is urgent that he repair it.  It was so difficult to understand him that I had to ask for the Microsoft call-back number.  He stated that the toll-free Microsoft number is 855-731-4936 and I must ask for "Mister Shawn" immediately to fix the severe problem which they at Microsoft have tracked on my computer.  I next found this web site.  I decided to advise the corporate security team at Microsoft at 800-642-7676.  I finally got to "Vince" who understood my reporting of this scam, and he gave me the number of "Microsoft Phone Scam" security investigators at 888-382-1222.  That is the US Government "do not call" registry!!!  In summary, as a retired career law enforcement agent, Microsoft, Inc. does not even care about this apparent fraud scam!!!!

BOLO --I rcv'd. call this morning as well with panicked rude AS HELL Indian/Pakistani that was very difficult to understand.  Claimed I was hacked or had virus and had to clean up right away.  He attempted to confirm legitimacy by reading back some code dug up on computer which he read off to me and said only Microsoft & my computer had access to that number.  Call came from Colusa, CA (530) 619-3038.  When I insisted on calling back he gave me the number above.  Googled and discovered many comments on this being a scam.  BEWARE--REPORT TO AUTHORITIES--these people need to be locked up!

Same thing. This man with a thick Indian or Pakistani accent called and told me his name was Jordan. He claimed that my computer had been hacked and was filled with viruses. He claimed to work at a Microsoft Windows Service Center. He told me he was help me fix my problem. He wanted me to visit some website and download software. He also wanted my credit card information. I knew it was a scam from the first moment, but wanted to see what this guy was after. I hung up when he asked for my credit card info and never went to the website he suggested. Do not give this man any personal information! He is trying to steal your identity and your credit card information.

This number belongs to scam artist. He had a thick accent (Indian or Pakistani). He told me his name was Jordan and that he worked for Microsoft at a "Windows Service Center". He claimed that my computer had been hacked and that he would help me fix it. He wanted me to download software (probably filled with viruses) and he wanted my credit card information. I didn't give it to him, obviously. THIS IS A SCAM TO STEAL YOUR ID AND YOUR MONEY. Do not give these people ANY personal information. They do not work for Microsoft and they are not trying to help you.

I have been receiving calls for several months saying the same thing. This is the fist time he gave me a the 855 number. It was also the first time he forgot to block his number. That number is 360-695-9481

I searched them and my initial thoughts were correct.

I also did a white page search on the 360 number and below is contact information that was pulled up.

They will not to know what to look for. I am a computer tech myself and I could only look for the program if the computer were in front of me using a date range search of activity, but that is only half the battle. Getting rid of it can be either easy or a very daunting task.

You need an in-person professional to physically take a look. You have very bad stuff in there. They can access all your email accounts and start this same scam with all your contacts in your list.

It is a Saturday and shops close early, you need to get this done today! If not, then do not use your computer until it is fixed. I used to be a computer admin for a large portion of NY State and know what I am talking about, this is no joke, you need to get rid of that program ASAP.
