This happened to me today.  I called Apple Care and they found malware called genieo on my computer.  She helped me remove it remotely and so far so good.  Just call Apple for support.  They are amazing!

The "Malware" is fake. Rapid Tech Support is a group of cyber criminals who install malware on your computer. Use an antivirus to get rid of it, if it's still there, reset your browsers.

Do not listen to it, they want to take over your computer, it starts as an adware, if you say yes, it will become an exploit. Don't listen to it and use an antivirus immediately.

They want to control your computer, they can send viruses, including that of adult content, I suggest if you see the pop up, get to an antivirus immediately!

I had a pop up telling me that my computer has been infected so I decided to call the number and they said Rapid Tech Support and stuff like that. Obviously a scam but I'm worried about the malware.

I have the same number been having Flash popups for the past week that I can not seem to get rid of. I have Restored to an early point looking to see where I got it but that seems to not be taking care of the issue. Today it flashed the number so I am thinking it is a scam of some sort. However while I am on here I will call it and see who Answers. LOL hang on Rapid Tech Support They hung up on me when I was asking who they were and why they are flashing my screen. I noted that when I went back to the screen the number changed to 1-855-617-2201 I can not find any real information on that number so i will call it. easy tech by tech webick.. They claim they work for Microsoft and that they did not place any thing in any software that is going to show up on any computers. they are a tech service that offers FREE assistance to people that are having Trouble with their computers. I pointed out that I am an It tech and that When I down loaded software this was added on which I did not approve of. He offered me Micro soft Es. and Security for Free. REALLY it is Free to any one that goes to Microsoft. he also mentioned pc health which if any one out there has done anything on the computer has run into them and they do the scan they say Hay if you want to fix these problems PAY US. LOL but it is a FREE DOWNLOAD and that is all that is FREE> lol  http://download.cnet.com/PC-Health-Check/3000-2086_4-10904966.html  So basically it is a malware of something you down loaded with  a tool bar or something in that manner. What you need to do is Reset all your browsers  and Tell it to Uninstall all the Tool bars. after that go and Delete all your temp files and history. Including your passwords. That has taken care of this issue so far in my Google Chrome. I use all three browsers all the time so I have to do it to Firefox and Explorer. You can down load Microsoft Free totally Free virus protection as well malware and other stuff for FREE from their sites.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download
I did ask the Guy if Microsoft knew that he was saying that they are a tech support for Microsoft and he avoided the Question and that is when he said that it was all free they do not ask for any money. LOL yeah right if I had not been aggressive with them. Now Easyteck by Webrick is not coming up as I have googled it several times How ever Webrick is a server software that I have download some of the stuff from them for my server.. So it may be I down loaded it off the something added in a torrent that I got. and I am leaning that way. and if you do not know what a torrent is you got it from a tool bar.

Just received a message on my computer that I had a virus.   The message drops names and trademarks then gives this number 1-855-753-9334.
Called the number, knowing it was a scam, just see what they would say.   The guy sounded clueless and was a jerk when I questioned him.    Is there a way to report them elsewhere?
