I just got off the phone with these people at Coral Arbitrations.  I honestly let this go on for entirely too long.  In the end it was a pretty typical call. She refused to believe anything I said and told me that I was not allowed to have any proof of the debt because it was ?evidence against me?.  To top that, it was supposedly a federal crime because I had not one but 4 payday accounts taken out at the exact same time.  Imagine that.

I have been dealing with these kind of phone calls since late 2009.  I am going to give everyone a summary of years of harassment because when I first started fighting this fight, I really needed sights like these ones to calm my nerves and to assure me that I wasn?t losing my mind.

First let me say that I totally admit.  I hit a rough period some time back and took out a payday loan.  I also paid it back and then some.  When I received my first call like this I was floored.  I had never heard of this and I can tell you now, the way they talked to me had me scared.  I thought I had messed up, something had gone wrong, maybe that hadn?t taken that final payment.  Oh my God!  What had I done!

Anyway.  Being the naïve person that I was at the time.  I paid them back.  The first time it was supposedly a settlement of $200.00.  A few months later I got another call saying that the settlement wasn?t enough and they were coming back at me for another $651.00.  Yep.  Feel free to slap me now.  I paid it.

I didn?t get wise until I kept getting phone calls.  Different companies I supposedly owed and different amounts taken on different dates.  Now I knew that something was terribly wrong.  Here are some examples of calls I got:
My ex-fiancé?s grandmother received a phone call, don?t ask me how they got her number but she said they were angry and rude and went on and on about how she needs to turn me over and even mentioned my kids. Of course this scared her even though she hasn?t seen me in a few years. They told her they would be calling back to leave a number for who she should call if she ever sees me but they never called her back. She documented the call at 6:30am and the phone company traced it. I received a message that came in at 6:19am yesterday. My work was upgrading phone systems so I didn?t get the message from this guy until later that morning. He was exactly how she described him. Angry and abrasive.  I spoke with Mr. Brown and got disconnected. I called back and spoke with Sam Evens and then was transferred to Mr. Brown again. I asked for the full name of the company, they said it?s ?Global?, that?s it, just Global. They refused to give me an address.
At another time of the hundreds of calls I?ve received I was refused any information about the caller but I was still very nice and simply asked for ANYTHING that showed I received money from this Advanced American Cash Advance (the only name they would give me) I have never heard of. They absolutely refused to send me anything unless I gave them the amount of $750.00.  I was hung up on but, this was not just one phone call. The first phone call came in at 1:11pm. The rest kept coming until 3:15pm. I received six phone calls in total, not in a row either. While I was on one line with the supposed supervisor, the other line rang in and there was someone else. For the names I actually got; I spoke with a Charlie Richards and a John Paul and a Lisa.  I was told that I was going to be sued and the action would take place at 11:00am tomorrow. Which would be May 27th. However, there was not WILLING to tell me the court or jurisdiction this would call under or where I was supposed to appear. Only that I would know when they showed up to handcuff me and drag me before a judge. THEN..they said I would get all the paperwork I wanted.

So, if anyone is asking if this is legal, no, it?s not. It is against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Also, this would be a Civil matter, not criminal and they would not arrest for that.

The threats violate section : 806 Harassment or Abuse of the FDCPA.

I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. This is a VERY simple process and only take one phone call. Trust me, they have them on file and will make you feel so much better when you talk to them. They are friendly and offer great advice and knowledge. When you are done they will give you the number to report to your local state Consumer Protection Agecy to file a complaint there to.

Good luck to you all.

If you wish to report these people, here is the number. I was advised after filing my report to not talk to them at all.. Hang up AFTER telling them they are NOT to contact me at my place of business, it is not allowed.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Received phone message from CSR and was told to either call or have our lawyer call about an account. Said they fully expect us to return their call. I called the number (855-778-8151) and realized that the number is for Coral Springs Resolution. I didn't speak to anyone - thought I'd check it out first. Not sure why they would call if it's about any of our accounts. We are not co-signers for any loans, and we check our accounts regularly. We are retired, and I hope other retired people aren't being contacted by these people.

I received an answering machine message from 855-778-8151 indicating if this is James Summers, his representative, or his attorney contact CSI (Coral Springs Resolutions) regarding case # 354734. When I called the number the individual that I talked to asked for the case number. When I gave them the number she then asked if my last 4 digits of my SSN was ****. I told her that the number was not mine and don't call my house again. She then became hostile stating that I did not make the call this was a computer generated message and hung the phone up. I had no idea what this message was directed to me for and it is my belief that this company calls all James Summers in my area as a hit and miss tactic. The call was unwarranted and this company should be fined and reported to the Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau.

Received a call from 855 778 8151 threatened with legal action for a pay day loan I've never had. Ask them for proof and kept saying we are a arbitration trying to collect on a bad payday loan.  Ask for attorney name who was over arbitration.  They Became hostile and said we have proof and will press charges. I then received a call that came up on my caller id as the parish I live in. I asked for the person name. Said needed my adr to have a deputy serve me with papers. Said he was calling from local court house. But did advise he could only see it was from csr and gave me phn number 504 434 4676 with ext 601. Same company coral springs resolution.  He gave me a name and I hung up and called right back. The person who's name I was given adv he had never called me.  So I went in person to the court house to his dept and spoke with his supervisor. Said they had no papers for me and he had never called me. Checked with civil and criminal division and nothing. ..

I received a call at my part time job, tina scared me she told me everything on my credit record and that they were gonna go public on my credit at a certain date if I didn't pay up or made arrangements to pay asap. I was scared because I didn't recall a pay day loan back in 2011 and what was ever weirder is that I NEVER banked with wachovia... she gave me a bank account number that indeed belong to me (a closed account) with my present bank.. right then and there I thought my identity has been robed!! I felt intimidated and scared because I have been working on rebuilding my credit. Well, I gave her my debit card info (no money had been taken as of today) spoke with a relative about this (she's a bookkeeper) and advised to call the "original" creditor so I did... that company told me I DO NOT OWE THEM ANYTHING AND THAT IF I EVER HAD A LOAN IT WAS FROM 2009 AND WAS PAID IN FULL. Right there I called my bank and reported my debit card stolen and got a new one... I reported them with CFPB and also with the original creditor I filed f audulent suspicious activity and Started an fraud alert on my social security with all 3 bureaus.. I am waiting for tina walker to call me asking me what happened and why my debit card declined.... I am anxiously waiting... I also have an attorney interested in my case looking for more people....

A lady called "Ms. Robinson" called me concerning a payday loan. Do not verify your social security number- it is a scam! Someone, claimimg to be a delivery guy filling in for someone, also called saying he was bringing a court appeal order to subpoena me to court. He has a private number but he claims it is a government issued number and cannot receive calls. Questions to ask them:-

1. Website for CSR- None exists.

2. Physical address for CSR? Answer- "We work for another company and here is their address."

3. City or State you are calling from? They will tell you the city where YOU live is the city they are calling from. How then, is the area code different and out of state? Answer- "We have many companies across America." If so, how come I can't trace or find any ONE  of them on the internet? They will divert from giving an answer.

*Tell them that you know about the scam and have read the postings about them. A long pause will follow.

*Tell them that you will check with your county court to see if there is a case pending, and contact the police. Furthermore, if the delivery guy shows up with false or fake court papers, you will have the cops with you to verify from him and have him arrest if proven or found false- or even bit him up.

* Change your credit or debt card with your bank if you gave them your info. DO NOT STRESS!

Hello- I am getting these demanding calls on my cell and after considering the written information above I am pretty sure this is a scam.
The reason I say this is the young woman who first called said she was from the Arbitration Department. I asked "Of what law Office" as there had been some name she quickly used, I think "Coral Springs". Hestitation pause. Heavy breathing.
No answer.
Then it's back to Are you (asking name ect.). Personal matter and she needs identification.
SO I said, "please send paperwork". Pause. If you work for lawyers that's the first thing that you say at your office. I mean they always run the this is "so and so Law Firm" and my name is Samantha Spugeon in Arbitration Mr. Dunkey.
You know?
I will obviously have to block these lovely fine Murkans but is it me or is the training for running telephone scammers seems to be declining.
I have had this experience when I had a payday loan and pretty sure it is scrapping the web or honey pots that pull information. I will always remember this experience. So charming and very ennobling.
I have to go now. I am starting a petition on the White House Website for HELP THE GRIFT.
Send our struggling grifters of north florida to DC. Learn from the pros.
Cheers!

All you have to do is ask for the proof. CSR Reps OFFER to send the debtor the information, if they chose to take it or not that's on the debtor. IF you get a call and your questioning the debtor contact 855-778-8151 EXT 611 and ask to speak to Ashley, she will get the documents out to you.

If you have a phone number for someone who had it before you did no one expects you to pay their bills. If someone randomly used your phone number for something all you have to do to make the calls stop is let the company know. Don't act like the whole world should know its "YOUR" phone number.

If a company calls you asking for someone else and you don't know them just say so. Done its over don't continue to complain about it!

If you are a resident in the state of Texas and receive a call from a debt collector, first thing is find out if they are legitimate. Texas has a wonderful law that all third party debt collectors must be registered with the Secretary of State's office and have a $10,000 surety bond in place.  If you are harassed, file a police report, can be done online in many municipalities, file with the Attorney General's office in your state, and the FTC.
Regarding Coral Springs Resolution and Northern Resolution Group, neither are authorized debt collectors in Texas. They are using a VOIP line in Dallas in hopes that you will pick it up thinking it is someone you know in Texas. NEVER make a payment over the phone without supporting documentation first! Legitimate companies don't threaten or harass and if you are served court documents, they will be delivered by an officer of the court, not someone from a debt collection agency!

I did some digging, I can't get a good visual of the exact address with the google maps street view.  But it is a onI story office, in a strip mall type complex with many similar offices.  The complex is owned  by Banks Business Park Llc

I found a "sun Resolution" also using the same address.  Sun resolution is listed under "Credit and Debt Counseling"

However, "Sun Resolution Group" appears to be engaging in illegal "collections" practices

When I was stupid enough to start reading your rambling nonsensical missive i was watching a Kim Kardashian show and was so desperate to wash out my eyes and plug up my ears that i got a loan for around 200 and i was so despondent over my rotary phone that i got a call three years later and talked with this woman her name was barbara walters or muddy waters and she gave me a very hard time on extension 666 and i told her about the phone which was a dusky peach with a light blue plastic hand set and could i make a settlement and maybe settle down in the suburbs in nice tudor if i could afford it so she gave me her direct line and told to call when i had problems but never on thursdays cause thats when her husband was around but i told her i was spoken for so she sent me a corresponding letter and receipt for the phone and then asked if i had an std or whatever so she sent the std to me via usps and i sent the bill to my credit card company where my mom works but she was so furious over the whole thing that she put a bad mark on my credit report and now the calls are much worse and unneeded so they wont stop thanks a lot barbara whatever your last name is!!

But there's also jail time for the person offering the loan.

Advance fee loans are illegal in most states, as are payday loans of any kind.  You can't collect on an illegal debt.  And in most states, you can't treat an unpaid, postdated check for a payday loan as a criminal matter, anyway.

See, for example,
http://www.ct.gov/dob/cwp/view.asp?a=2235&q=297922

Then there's this, from http://www.paydayloner.com/gotojail.html :
>>>>
I'm not a lawyer (thank god), but this is how I understand it. To find you guilty of writing a bad check, the prosecutor needs to prove that you intended to write a bad check and that the company accepting the check didn't know there were no funds. Good luck with that.
<<<<
Yeah.  Good luck with that -- especially for a payday loan, where, by definition, the whole purpose of the loan is to get someone through a time when they specifically do NOT have enough money in their checking account to pay their bills.

So thanks for admitting that you really, really *want* to go to jail, sucker.
