I took the Second Notice to two different Bank of America locations and was told that this is a settlement related to a class action case and that it is legitimate so I called the number.  The call seemed normal enough.  The notice looked like junk mail so I could see how we would have tossed earlier notices without opening them.  Also we tend to get convenience checks linked to our BofA cards and I tend to shred them without opening so we could have easily overlooked the check as well.

I took our "SECOND NOTICE" by a branch and they told me that it was legitimate and that we should call.  I am not familiar with the 855 number so I will verify with our personal representative before dialing the number.  Thanks.

I got snail mail with a notice of a refund from Bank of America initiated back in September 2013 with this phone number.

I went through @bofa_help (a certified Bank of America twitter account) when I had problems reaching the number, and the rep on the other end indicated the mail and the phone number is legitimate. I spoke to a second rep the first (certified) one connected me to and he said a refund check is being sent to me.

received exactly the same mail. I am certain this is a scam, as confirmed by the above notes by others.
the thing is I have nothing to do with BofA!
anyhow, the mail is being ripped in half and going down to my trash can now.......

I have an update.  I called the number to have a little fun. I got the message "This call is being recorded".  When a Melissa Rogers came on line I told her "This call is being recorded".  She immediately paused and put me on hold.  She came back and asked a couple of innocuous questions including the member number on the correspondence they sent.  I specifically asked "Are you with BankofAmerica and she responded "Yes" and to expect a re-mailing (never got the first) of the check.

We'll see :-)

This phone number was attached to a refund notice from Bank of America. The letter left me this number to call, but my mail doesn't come until after 5pm so the number attached to the letter, their office was closed. It told me this was my second notice because I had a refund check issued to me in Sept of '13 but was never cashed. I never got a check from them. So, I went to the BofA website and called their actual number and was told it was a scam. I basically read the letter to the guy word for word, he left me on hold for a while, then came back and told me it was a scam. I called back again, talked to a different person and she told me the same. She also told me that the phone number on the letter wasn't an actual BofA number.
