Legitimate process servers do not call to warn you, or to get money from you to stop the process.

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I just received the same call today April 22, 2014 @ 11:42a.m. This is the message left on my voice mail... "I'm hi this is Franny Smith. I'm a legal Courier. I'm calling to inform you that there has been a summons issued out for you. I am scheduled to come to your home or place of employment within the next twenty four to forty eight hours. I'm going to need you to have two forms of identification. Should I have to bring this to your work place. It will be mandatory that a supervisor or manager is available to sign off as witness. If you have any questions or concerns about this please feel free to call the filing party at 8558206657. Thank you. Good luck." The caller didn't even say a name, just left the message!

Got the same message as Denver Girl. I did call them back and spoke with someone. I asked multiple times if there was a law suit filed and where (City/State/County) they would file it, if it was in fact filed. She couldn't answer. I asked if their client, who was supposedly suing me retained them for their services, what are their services- she couldn't tell me. Just said "for litigation" Unfortunately for her, I am a litigation attorney. Eventually she hung up in my face as she couldn't provide me with any answers I needed. Wish I would have googled the number before calling. At least I determined that there was no law suit (I did check my county's database) and they are full of it.

Howdy folks, it's me again. Yep, they called AGAIN. That is twice today. Once at 10:37 a.m. and then again at 12:01 p.m. Same EXACT message and script, literally word for word. Apparently, they are coming for me today, folks! LOL Franny Smith is on her way to me. I'm about to call my cell company and have my number changed. I called the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau again to report the second call. They said this is very clearly a scam. They can't handle the case since its not an actual creditor so they are passing it off to the Federal Trade Commission for fraud. Fun times, people, fun times.

Me again! Yep, these idiots called me again this morning. The caller was once again "Frannie Smith" and I think I got my prior post incorrect, it's not Legal Caring Services, its Legal Courier Services. The content today was a bit different. Today's message was exactly this: "Hello, this is Frannie Smith calling with Legal Courier Services. I called the other day regarding your court summons. I just want you to know that I will be out there by the end of the day today. Umm, I do need you to be available with your 2 forms of identification. If I cannot hand this off to you its going to result in a missed court appearance. I am going to give you the filing party's number, which is 855-820-6657. I highly recommend that you give them a call. Thank you and good luck."
So, yesterday I filed an official complaint with the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I called them this morning and updated them on this new call. If you are receiving calls from this number, I HIGHLY recommend that you file a complaint with them as well. I want these idiots to fry. Their website is: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/. You can file your case online and they will handle it for you. You can call them to update your case every time one of this a-holes calls you. Don't let them scare you, ok? It sounds legit at first but it is not. They MUST leave your name and state that this is an attempt to collect a debt. I have done a ton of research and these guys call you and more or less scare the pants off of you so you pay them money you most likely do not even owe.
If you are really being sued, there are strict laws about service. They don't warn you they are coming - if they warn you, you can just not be home or at work and therefore not receive service. They want to surprise you. All courts require that you are served a certain time frame (usually 2 weeks minimum) before the court date. You get a summons then you go to court and deal with it. This is NOT how you are notified of a court case against you. Their BS about you missing a court appearance is absolutely not reasonable.
Don't fall for it. File a complaint and lets get these guys shut down.

Yep, me too. Exact same message from Franny Smith, all the crap about serving me in 24-48 hours, etc. She told me "good luck" at the end as well. Stupid morons. Do not call them back, block their number from your phone and report to the FTC or Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

I got the same message twice in the last month. Frannie Smith calling from Legal Caring Services. Say they are going to serve a summons to me at my home or place of work within 24-48 hours if I do not return their call. Said I would need two forms of ID to accept the summons and that my supervisor and head of security will need to be present if served at work. Total scam. But it does scare the pants off you. Same people called my MOM and told her I would be arrested in 24-48 hours if I did not call them. HORRIFYING and scary. DO NOT RETURN THEIR CALLS.

Douchenozzles called my spouse and left a voicemail to this effect, the same stuff about serving you papers and how they are "legal couriers" - All of you should know that a process server or anyone from a court in your US county will NOT tell your a** before you are served, because if you can veritably claim you weren't served you can get out of a lot of situations.

So these are some assmasters tryin' to get a buck o' five outta the elderly who can be misdirected easily. We're in our 30s, but protect your loved ones.

Prank Call
This is a company calling claiming they will be serving you a summons at home or at work, and that you need two forms of ID to verify and if at work, a Supervisor to sign to verify.  They are scammers attempting to collect debt , when no debt is owed.  They do not mention the name of the company calling nor the person they are calling.  DO NOT CALL THEM BACK---REPORT THEM TO THE FTC.

Got same call from (855)820-6657 4/11/14 10am stating Franny Smith legal service on the phone message.  She  will be serving me within 24-48 hour and I will need two forms ID.  Said to call back filing party at (855)820-6697.  After I had an asthma panic attack, I called a friend who is a lawyer and my brother in law who is a Police Sergeant.  They said not to worry, a process server would not call in advance nor request two forms of ID.  My Bro in law told me to Google the phone number and I found it was a scam phone number.  I was scared to death by this call.  I did file a police report and also reported the unwanted phone number on DO NO CALL REGISTRY (since my phone number is already registered).

It never occurred to me that this caller never used my name in the phone message nor identified the filing party.  Hope these scammers stop, it is very alarming and I understand they will try to get you to send them money.

Someone from this number called and left a voicemail saying that their name is Frannie Smith and that they were a legal courier.  They said that they had a summons for me and would be coming to my home or place of employment.  They also said they needed 2 forms of ID when they showed up and of course a "supervisor" if they had to come to my place of employment.  The told me to call "the filing party" at 855 820 6657.  Before she hung up she said "Good luck".  How sweet.

I found it funny that they did not say my name.  She never said "this message is for John Doe" or "I am calling to speak with Jane Doe".  I am assuming that it's because SHE DOESN'T KNOW MY NAME.  I guess when you "serve papers" to someone, it's not necessary to know their name.

I know this is completely bogus, but I think the funniest thing has to be when she said that she is scheduled to "come to my home or place of employment".  What are they going to do when they get here?

It is so sad that there are so many scammers out there.  Unfortunately, there are people who would believe this and be willing to call them back and give them whatever information they ask for because they truly believe these people are going to come to their work or their homes and embarass them.  These scammers are pathetic to prey on people.  It's hard enough to make ends meet in this economy and now someone is going to "threaten" you?  A complete waste of my time listening to the voicemail and a waste of voicemail space on my phone.  I would love to call and leave them a voicemail saying EXACTLY what the lady said to me.  But instead of saying "good luck" at the end of my message, my words would be a lot more colorful.

I received a call from this number today. It seemed like the guy talking was a recorded message because they did not stop to answer me when I said "hello" or "what? I can't hear you" Then he hung up. He did not ask for me by name, he did not say my name or any name I recognized either... He said something about 2 pieces of ID and coming to my job to serve papers?. Well my security is an AR-15 and my "job" is homemaker.  I don't have debt or owe anyone money so I don't know why they would call me. Scammers for sure.

Got the same call today, tried to call back but only receiving voicemail. I welcome them coming to my work as I am a police officer. Please don't be fooled by these types of telephone calls, they are all scams trying to get you to send money. I respond to calls from people in my jurisdiction who receive these calls and gladly help them. Please remember that the POLICE make arrests, not John Doe's who threaten to arrest you if you don't send money. Believe me, if you are going to be arrested, I highly doubt you would be alerted. I don't call people before I arrest them. Be safe out there.

This is a collection co.  Claims they are legal outsourcing and of course they have a summons.  Stated they would com to my job an I would need a supervisor or security there in order for me to accept the summons.  What a bunch of horsecrap. First of all I'm self employed, morons, second I just got a call  days ago from similar company for my brother who I haven't seen in 4 years.

They are not allowed to legally threaten to show up at your job to collect a debt, and WHEN HAS ANYONE ever needed a manager or security, or 2 forms of ID to get served?  Not unless it' a huge some of money you will be receiving.

They are obviously phony scammers.  NOBODY stress on these idiots.

I did call back and leave a blistering message full of cursing, told them to stop calling me.

Just got the same message.  I raised my voice because he was talking over me and I demanded to know what it was about. He claimed I was "Cussing him out", which I was not.  Also got another one this afternoon from someone claiming to be from the :"Department of Legal Affairs" 512 547 1244  He said his name was Mike Johnson but had a very heavy Indian accent.  When he said that, I said I didn't think so.  Looked them up on line and apparently they say your taxes were filed incorrectly, don't hang up, just get your debit card and pay.  These last people were from 855 820 6657

They called, said someone was coming by to serve papers or something like that. They said to have 2 forms of ID ready. LMAO! Never heard of getting a phone call like that. Besides, there is no way they could know where I am. My GPS is always off. Even the police don't know where I am without some research. Sure it's a collector.
