the company name is Daily Savings. Oh, and to the spammers repeating the "virus" thing. SHUT THE HELL UP MORONS.
| Kate 2011-12-09 15:26:05 Unknown |
I just got the same message and it is a scam to collect credit card info. I called just to play dumb and see who they were. They claim to be a company called Daily Recievers. You call, they tell you you've won, and then ask for your credit card information. I asked how they got my number, and they said it was from a survey I completed a few months ago online (I never completed a survey) and this was their way of thanking me. I told him I thought this sounded odd and he hung up on me.
I don't think there is any virus associated with this text, just a way of getting naive people to give them their credit card info, and maybe more.

Thats good thinking..they should just send $98.05 if its true...unfortuneatly the guy that replied to everybodies post talking about the virus that gets on your phone if you open the text message is telling the truth...That text is a tracking cookie virus that can be controlled remotely when you call one of the 20 something various numbers that it says to call. I got it on my phone and luckily i was able to restore it back to the day before i got the text but I have a windows google phone so it was simple to do..with most phones its not so simple. Hope you are able to fix yours

be careful that message I got on another phone of mine and it turns out when you open that text your phone gets an encrypted virus that CAN NOT BE REMOVED..basically your phone is screwed UNLESS you have an OS (operating system) that can be restored to a previous date before you opened that text. Good luck. Your phone calls can be monitored if the party who created this virus activates the virus file remotely which probably happens when you connect to the number it tells you to call. Thats the only way I could think that the fraudulant party could connect directly to your phone. My phone had to be trashed it was just a cheap virgin mobile $40 phone

Got the same text message as everyone else - $100 reward certificate. Just delete it, don't even bother to reply (my texts cost me 5 cents each!)

Same text message received on my phone also. Didn't call back, of course. Didn't text "STOP" but instead blocked the phone number through my carrier. I doubt that will help much, but I reported them to the carrier anyway.

received text message about $100 certificate so I called...i was at work so had to get off the phone. Immediately got a call back at work from Summer saying "Don't hang up on me" and proceeded to hang up. I called back to talk to supervisor and got hung up on. Called back a second time and was told to call back an hour later. DO NOT RESPOND!!!! If you do call and tell them to take you off the list. TOTAL SCAM AND VERY RUDE!!!!

Just reported the company to the FTC. Everyone needs to do this, even if you didn't respond to their text message. This will, at least, get them on the radar and have them shut down.

I got that text! I didn't even bother to call, I just googled it :)
I found some other stuff to help below:
https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx
Register ^^your number^^^ to the "do not call" registry.
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/phonefraud/report.shtml
More stuff from the FTC website! Hope this helps!
Here is the text:

Where do you report these people to? My mom just got their text... Thank God she asked for someone to Google the number before calling. We really enjoy sweepstakes, so we always double check with each other and investigate before believing any win notification.
Nonetheless, does texting STOP actually stop them? How/to whom does one report them?
Thanks!
