We had been receiving a number of these calls from "Wells Fargo".  I literally went to the bank to ask them because the sheer number of calls, & different numbers they were using was becoming really annoying.  Wells Fargo says that they NEVER contact clients to sell them services.  Best solution, don't answer these calls, no matter who the VOIP says it is.  Contact your bank directly, through a number you look up yourself, if you're concerned that they're trying to reach you.

It is not Wells Fargo just at the bank and it is a SCAM. Wells Fargo knew nothing of this number.Reporting them to the local police.

I answer their calls and they are attempting to sell me insurance.  They call about twice each week and each time I say I'm not interested, but they call back anyway.  I scream at them and they call back anyway.  Does Wells-Fargo annoy all their customers this way?

Another call this morning from same number.  I didn't pick it up this time either.  Thank goodness for caller ID.

This is the second number doing the Wells Fargo phishing calls. The other is 855-821-8099, which I have been receiving calls from for quite some time. I never answer and no message is ever left. ID always says TOLL FREE. I've contacted my agent at Wells Fargo and have been told they are aware of the calls but there's not much they can do to stop them. So, just another number I have to block. PITA.

Got my first call from them today (I didn't answer the phone; let it ring).  Figured I ought to Google the number, see who it was, and found this website.  Thanks for the info and what to do/what not to do.  If the caller wants to waste their time calling me and getting no answer from me, fine by me.  I'm also on the donotcall registry.

We bank at Wells Fargo and have a good relationship with them. I updated my NORTON Security System and it is an advanced program for 2012.  I am sure our bank where I live would not stoop that low to allow their so-called number to call customers. I have Caller ID and it showed that same number. Whoever called this morning, I was not available and noticed it on my Caller ID when I returned home. I just ignored the call and waiting to see if this number calls again.  What a bunch of scam artists!
Our Wells Fargo employees are very conscientious and honest. We trust them all. They told us to not answer their calls or give them any of our personal information. If they get a hold of your bank account/credit card accounts, etc. we could all be in serious trouble. It is what they call "IDENTITY THEFT."  Be careful out there.

Don't automatically assume that it is an impostor. Wells Fargo can be highly, highly incompetent. I'm amazed that they are in business, compared to minimum acceptable behavior I've seen in all other banks - both larger and smaller.  (To my knowledge, the only bank worse than them is E*Trade, some of whose employees belong in prison.)

In other words, you might call W.F. directly and have them deny that it's them, while in fact it actually is. Such a scenario is far within the bounds of their incompetence.

Don't bother, I've tried to get off their lists.  They say they will, but don't.  I'm also on the national do not call list. The only thing you can do is get a new google voice number, and put their numbers on the spam list.  Unfortunately, they change their numbers for just this reason.  Despicable company.

got a call from this number and thought all kinds of stuff. this is a really good forum to have. asked for me and told i wasn't home. left no message. Funny, i just cancelled my wells fargo accounts, hmmmm..............

I got this call every days and the call id pop up and also say unavailable..... mean they don't want us to know where they call from... to prevent fine for $10,000 if you have a call block and you could report  them to consumer report..... these people are cower   .

I have been getting this call too for the past few days. No one is ever on the other end.

Just got the call also, and I did call Wells Fargo, and it is NOT one of their numbers....Hope they call again:) I do have something to say to them:) :)....Caller ID just said: Toll Free Call

Called Wells Fargo directly and validated that this 855-821-8100 is NOT one of their numbers. Tell these people to pissoff.

Okay, here's the deal.  Con artists have hacked into the Wells Fargo system to get names and numbers.  They then call those people claiming to be wells fargo in attempt to gain credit card information or bank account numbers.  I called the Wells Fargo general banking hotline and asked if 8558218100 was part of their phone system.  The banker I spoke with told me no, and that if they continue to call, I should report it to law enforcement.  If you get a call from this phone number do not give them any information, they are a phishing scam, just trying to sound credible, in order to obtain your private financial information.  

If you don't believe me, call Wells Fargo's general banking hotline, and ask a banker if the number is part of their phone system.

I'm getting the same thing. They call, don't leave a message. The two times I answered the phone it;s a recording saying; "Where calling about that health insurance quote you asked for online," Unless i was unconscious and didn't realize I was on the Internet in my sleep. I don't recall requesting health insurance quote from anyone recently. But like clock work they will call at 9:00 AM. Again 20 minute's later. Then one more time after 1:00 PM in the afternoon.

They won't honor your request so the simplest way to handle these calls is to tell them there's no one here by that name or just say, "Sorry you have the wrong number"

National Do-not-call Registry does not stop calls coming from companies with whom you have a business relationship.  If you have any accounts with them, they can call you until you request a special stop, as you've said you did.  Here's hoping they honor it!

Called the number back.  It was a recorded message saying that I've reach Wells Fargo Bank.  The recording also stated that they called to offer me a special promotion.

The recording gave me prompts to remove my phone number from receiving these "special offers".  When I completed the prompts, it said to allow 5 days to process the request and 30 days to completely remove my information from their database.  The problem for them is I am on the National Do Not Call Registry.
