yep, unfortunetly they are not a scam, they are calling because u really do owe money and YOU did take out the loans. unfortunetly the way they use SCARETACTICS is borderline legal/illegal and the way words are used like "possible" or "may have charges" gets them around those laws. do not pay anything unless you get something in writeing IN THE MAIL! not e-mail.. the company is no longer east coast resolution. they go by a different name. the owners name is bob mustang of the "MR GROUP" M meaning MUSTANG. the general managers name is greg. greg sansone i believe and they are located in buffalo ny. they do break the law. and u can sue the hell out of them just get it recorded and get your money, sue the s*** outa them.

Mike from Impact regarding a payday loan from 2007 called to verify my address, which was an address which I have not received mail from in over 5 years. He claims I had a payday loan in 2007 of which when they went to process the loan repay the account was closed. I informed him that in 2007 after my divorce my accounts had been fraudently hacked and all monies had been taken forcing me to close the accounts and bank with another institution. He said they are "filing charges" for fraud and breach of contract. I informed him that those are civil suit matters not criminal. I informed him that I never applied for or signed any type of loan in 2007, on top of that I just filed BK last week therefore his continued attempt to collect from me is in violation of the US BK laws, therefore unless he was calling from the DA's office re criminal charges our conversation was over. Before he hung up he called me a "f****ng bi***". So inappropriate and unprofessional. I will be filing complaints with the attorney general and my local congressman as well as a complaint for violation of the fair debt collection practices act.

Thank you for your post and passing along that information.  Most people who have fallen  behind on their legitimately owed debt,  really want to pay them.  With the costs of non-optional health needs and medical care,  the job situation,  and economy,  it can be easy to get overwhelmed into a serious bind.  A legitimate honest Collector,  using a professional,  considerate and respectful approach in offering an acceptable solution,  can be a true benefit to those who sincerely want to maintain their dignity and pay what they can toward what is owed.
Again,  thank you for your post...

I AM an fdcpa certified debt collector and have been receiving back to back calls from "Matt Bennett"
Demanding that I call him on papers that were placed on his desk "this morning" and re pending charges against you"
DO NOT GIVE ANY ATTENTION TO CALLS FROM SOMEONE DOING THIS TO YOU!!!
This lowlife is not a debt collector!!! He is a scam artist..
Any REAL debt collector knows state regulations and laws concerning debt collections and threats are not legal in any state.. No debt collector could legally leave detailed msgs like that and still have a job!!
IF THIS FOOL calls you or your relatives or any of the fools named in above posts tell him to come get you because he cant!! It is a scare tactic on a debt you may not even have.
Any legitimate company would announce their name on recording when you call.
If you have a debt you can find out where it may have been moved to by checking your credit bureau
go to annualcreditreport.com    it actually is free..

Oh and Matt?? call my job and speak to one of the attorneys that I work for..because they'll eat you up..
so come and get me Matt because I handed my cell to one of the attorneys and had him watch how many times you called back to back..better hope they don't find you..
and as far as this goes:

It might have been coincidence that you were served papers. I did some payday loans where my information was out there in cyberspace. The loans were paid off but I started getting calls like this. Its generally a scam to scare you into sending money to them

I received a call from this number today, trying to locate my son saying he had sealed documents for him.  His name was Jim Bradley, his call from number marked private, and Said the package was from MR Group.  He did not say he was a debt collector which they are required to do when they call.  Funny my son got a message on his phone saying the same thing so he did locate him.  When my son called the number he would not tell him what he had or what it was for or even give him an address.  Very suspicious, I contacted my attorney and she said it sounded like a scam to her; they need to give you this information if they are a debt collector.  They are trying to scare people into giving out personal information.  We are reporting the number to the FTC.

I received a call from this number today and forwarded it to my attorney.  When they called the number, they said they were MR Group, but that they didn't make outgoing calls from that number.  My attorney told me to send a cease and desist letter and to indicate any further questions should be directed to her.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

They are just scam people that are going to threatened people to get them to pay them money before they show up at their place of employment with papers.  DO NOT DO ANYTHING FOR THEM.  ASK THEM TO STOP CALLING YOUR PHONE AND PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AND TELL THEM THAT YOU HAVE CONTACTED THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
