I received a call from this company as well, from a guy who calls himself Frank Portillo. Occasionally, I would also get a call from a girl. He calls my number but asks for my husband. When I tell him that I'm not the person he's looking for, he says my name/number is listed as his point of contact. When my husband returns the call, he's told that he can not disclose any information to him until he provides his SS#. If this really was a debt collection company, they would not be so secretive.
Their target are elderlies, people who are uninformed and curious as to what debt they have. If I had not googled this number and company, I probably would've thought that I had an outstanding debt somewhere that I did not know of.
Beware of this company and report to your local police or the Better Business Bureau. I hope the FBI catches these scammers.

| Don't Fall For GATESTONE Telephone Scam 2014-05-05 15:49:16 Debt Collector |
I kept receiving recorded phone calls from a company identifying themselves as Gatestone Company: http://Gatestoneco.com Tel: 1-760-979?4432. I called back. They asked me for my address, (which they supposedly had right in front of them.) Then they asked me for the last four of my Social Security. They "claim" to be at 1000 Northwest St. Ste. 1200 Wilmington, DE 19801. They claim to have "personal information" and then asked for me to identify myself via my address? Their other phone number is 855?834?6018. I have no outstanding debt, never have and they call two to three times per week. My legal rep says this is a scam or an attempt to steal identity. DO NOT Give them any information if you cannot verify nor validate who they say they are. If it were me, this is what I would do. WITHOUT giving them any personal information, tell them to send you a certified return receipt letter (to the address they claim they have on file) stating EXACTLY what they want. Otherwise DO NOT RESPOND and report them IMMEDIATELY to your local scam/ identity theft dept. When enough people get together to do what is right, theses thieves will give up and get a REAL job.

Absolutely correct. Remember, they called YOU. Not the other way around. Won't say who they are, and allow me to verify that information is correct? Outta here! Never give out personal information on a call you did not make, from a number you verified as real, & correct. Do not call back numbers from voice mail, text, fax, or email.

Called no message. 1st time ever called so I googled the number to see who it may be and found this information. I never answer unknown numbers if it is for me they can leave a message and I can return the phone call.

This number calls at least 3 times a day. Asking for a specific person that does not live here and never has and then says if you stay on the line you acknowledge that you are this person.

Uses the ploy they have someone trying to do a business transaction and want to confirm your address then try to get you to give them the last four digits of your phone number
