A gal named Elise Kennedy keeps calling from this number, claiming my daughter has a pending court case against her and if she didn't contact them by tomorrow (it's always by tomorrow) then the case would proceed without her. When I asked Elise who she worked for, she said "I am with the L.A. County Process Service Verification Office" but I checked and there's no such office. She also made a false statement to me about the correct mailing address for my daughter, so I know they are lying. Normally I would blow it off but they seem to have a way to find out phone numbers and addresses of many of our relatives. I am assuming they do a ton of research online, including Facebook etc.

Based on all the other posts here, I'm guessing this is about my daughter's former credit card and bank account with Wells Fargo. She got behind and overdrawn but we paid it all off for her years ago, but somehow this company got her name and keeps calling. I know they are a collections company. I'm just incredibly annoyed they can get away with this.

I just got a message on my voice mail at work  They state my ex husbands name (we have been divorced for over 3 years and separated for 6)  My current name and my married name.  Stating they are trying to serve us and wanting to know what time we will be home.  Left the 855-836-7580 number and case number.  I Have not called back - I immediately suspected something was up - because the only debt my husband and I shared together I settled on years ago.  So I am just curious are these really debt collectors using scare tactics for actual debt?  Or are they scammers that somehow got a hold of this information and are trying to use it against you

Received a very agressive call from Barry Allen from Regent and Associates (855-836-7580).  They told me that i was going to be served with a notice to appear in court.  When i told him what was this about, he said that i should ask Ms. xxxxx (my sister).  I told him i have not talked to my sister in some time and i did not know where she lived.  He then went on to say that if i was not able to locate my sister, i would then have to appear in court and that was going to be my problem.

Yea that guy George just called me an left a message wantin to know when I would be home so that a "process server"could come by an serve me. Then when I called them back at the number that her gave me he tells me that I should settle out of court now an send him the full amount now or they will garnish my wages when I get paid. I called my county an found out that their cause number is bogus. George also told me at first when I talked to him that this would could be a criminal charge an then later in the conversation he told me that it's only a civil suit. Obviously this deal is a scam an will report what I know to the authorities.

Got a call from a buddy i was living w in CA over two years ago.  He told me he got a call from this number and the person on the line was looking for me, she said they were trying to serve ME papers.  I called the number back and spoke to a guy named Phil.  He told me i had an account with Wohcovia that was overdrawn.  he told me this had been going on for over two years and that many companies had been trying to contact me.  he told me if i was able to pay 900 something by last friday he would "releave me of all legal obligations".  I of course did not pay as the call was very suspect.  I have since contacted Wells Fargo and there does seem to be a Credit Card i never paid for.  I am still trying to get to the bottom of this.  If anyone has any information on this company or this # it would be much appreciated.  I dont want to dismiss this as fraud if it is a real debt.

I received a call from these people the other day and they left a message for my relative. The message stated that my relative was going to be sued with a debt they owed. They requested a return call. Never gave the name of the business just that name of the person to call back (Christine Jones).  Today I received a call from this relative's brother stating that they received a call from this agency only leaving a phone number. They told this person that they needed a return call because this person is being sued and they were going to take him to court.

Just got a phone call saying that I had a bank account with Wachovia and it overdrawn. Since my account was only open for 2 months and I have an outstanding payday loan, he said they were going to take me to court for fraudulent charges and that if they did, I would lose my Social Security Disability benefits. I called a lawyer referral service immediately and right away she said, I just heard this same story yesterday. She told me to call them back and ask for them to send me paperwork on the original debt. When I  did, the man there (Barry Allen) threatened me and told me he was going to put me down as refusing to pay a bad debt and noted that I was a shady person who doesn't take responsibility for my finances, etc. He also said I would need to be in court between 9/30 - 10/4/13 in San Bernadino. My account was not even close to that area. Looks like it's a scam people. What is this world coming to???

Why would they serve your landlord?
You were the one supposedly being served, not your landlord.
You're a scammer.

They called yesterday a relative to let him know that I would receive a citation to court. Did not gave details other than a case number, related to a great sum I supossedly owed a Bank due to my failure to officially close an Account several years ago.
They told me they could convince the owner of the debt to settle for the principal and forget the interests should I pay within 24 hours. I played the game and told him that I needed more time to which he responded he was trying to help me even going against his company's interests which convinced me that it was a scam.
Later on I called the Bank and found out I actually have an outstanding debt for 60 bucks and no collection company working on any case against me.
I called back the "collection Company" again this morning (Regent) to talk to Amanda Backten, who called my relative and Phil Reyes, the person I had spoken to before - fake names for sure - and could reach Reyes. Asked for an address to go and mame the payment. He told me that the Company does not receive payments in its Offices and would not give me an address but would gladly give me a Bank account number or data for deposit, Wire trasfer or credit card payment.
I can not be so disrespectful as to write down what I told him, but be aware that these guys are nothing but a bunch of crooks with access to info that might lead somebody to believe their scams.

Myself, as well as most of the other users here, would love to help you out.  However, the writing in your post in not very clear.  Is English your first language?  When you say "chain of title", what exactly are you referring to?  It can mean very different things legally based on the context.

You are correct: No one in their right mind would let you know in advance that you were going to be served. It's just a scare tactic designed to frighten people into paying in a panic instead of getting the debt legally validated.

Received a call today from a Mr. Smith.

Claimed I had two Failures to Appear and would be served papers tomorrow. I don't think a legitimate law office calls you ahead of time, right?  You'd just get served, correct?  This led me to believe it was just a collection agency.
