I just received a similar call, He stated his name was Matthew Reed and I was going to be served. He stated he was with a process server. I asked for his badge number and he gave me 462795, this is NOT a badge number. I told him I was going to check on the validity of the badge number, he hung up. Still check him and this company.

I have received two calls in the past few days. The message left was a female by the name of Nicole telling me if i am at work my boss will need to sign as a witness. I also contacted the court house and was told there was no record of a file for a law suit against me. I believe this is a scam seeing they have not shown up at my house and my employer has been informed and if someone does show up there they will be asked to leave...

Unless someone shows up I will believe this is a scam because when i returned the call to the number left i was hung up on when i tried to get information.

I too have received a few calls regarding a similar number. It started with a call earlier this week from a "private" number and I let it go to voicemail. I got the same schtick has previously listed...that if I didn't call the 855 number I was going to be served some 'papers' at my home or place of employment. The caller left no information as to who he was (or even his name), to whom I owed the debt, or the name of the "3rd party" company I was to contact to put a 'stop order' on the serving of "papers". If I did not call the number, he would contact me again later in the week and give me one last chance and they would "dispatch" someone the next day to serve me the "papers" if I did not comply. Since I was not provided this info via voice mail, I did not respond. Sure enough, a few days go by and I receive the 2nd phone call notifying me that they would be serving me the "papers" the following day and to please make this as easy and discreet as possbile. The only difference this time was that the person who called forgot to block his call and the number showed up on ID. Google is a wonderful thing, so I entered it and did a search and came to find out that the phone call came from a pay phone at a gas station. Really? A pay phone at a gas station? I was planning to see what happened as the day went on and whether or not I would be served these "papers" that I have no idea where theyre coming from. You could definitely tell that the guy who left the message was reading from a script

Lets keep in mind here that legit debt collectors will ALWAYS give you the schtick about how "this is an attempt to collect a debt..." and at no time did I receive that message. Im guessing that no name would be given in the voice mail because the operation is illegal, but the person calling and leaving a message wasnt smart enough to block his call let alone realize that calling from a gas station where there are cameras inside located at a major intersection where there are more cameras that activate every time the light turns red is pure genius! Im sure the police will have no problem locating his whereabouts. If he was on foot, he must live or work really close to the place where the call came from. Way to be discreet.

Just remember...

~If anyone is going to serve you with anything, there is no notice of any kind...they find you and they serve you, and it will be by someone who will identify themselves with proper documentation
~If indeed they are a debt collector, they are required by law to tell you that they are a debt collector. If they fail to give you information of any kind as to who they are or what the call is in regards to, then hang up. Also refuse to give them any information. Theyre the ones who called you, and they have all the info they need on hand to do what they need to do if they are legit.

If you need more info on this scam, do a Google search for 855-844-3542 or look for anything close to these numbers. Im sure it is all the same people because every single story is the same

Everything called your bluff says is correct!  I feel sorry for anyone who would acutally pay these people and let them scare them.  They should be shut down but with all the phoney numbers they used they would probably deny everything.  Ignore them and they will go away!

Update to message...On March 10th I received a phone call from Michael Lewis a process server with the phone # 717-933-9904 leaving a voice mail message that he would be out to my residence to serve me with a summons but had no idea why the summons was issued.  Stated that I needed to call 855-835-4525 to settle this situation.  He also stated that if he found me a my place of employment my employer would need to witness my signature to the documents being served.  Well, first off I never new they would warn you ahead of time that they were coming.  Secondly,  I never contacted either the process server or the company and guess what 2day if March 17th and no one every showed up and I have received a call since.  My advice to anyone who ever received a payday loan is to keep track of who you received the loan from and when it was paid back.  Thay way when you get that dreaded call you will know in advance if is legitimate or not.

Debt Collector
I received a phone call from a Matthew Reed for Outsourced Legal Processing for attorney Steven James Jarosa stating that I defaulted on a loan in Oct of 2009.  I asked them for the account that the money was to be deposited into and I was told it was into an account that I closed and stopped using in June of 2009.  After telling Mr Reed that he then transferred me to Mark Senear who told me that he didnt care about the loan itself because I was being prosecuted for a bad check charge.  I asked to have time to contact my old bank to get a copy of the account so I could verify with him that I had indeed closed that account before the said loan was taken out he told me if I wasn't going to take care of the problem immediately while on the phone he would be serving me with papers to go to court.  Then I was notified that he had sent a fax to my employer wanting information about how much I make and other personal information.  I told Mr Senar that I wasnt going to pay him for a loan I know I didnt receive and he said then I will be served...my response to him was then serve me.  Should I contact an attorney about their threats and false information.

No worrys Lee...its just a scam...they cant do anything and wont do anything.  The best advice I can give you is to change your phone number if possible...I know that it isnt always possible, but thats the best advice I can give you for stemming these scammers. I was bugged for 3 years (by another scam company) till I changed my number and after I did that I heard nothing else from them.  You have nothing to worry about and if you change your number (if possible) you wont hear anything else from them.  I try to watch 800notes to look for people in my same situation to tell them any advice I can on ridding themselves of this plague of scammers.

They called me at my place of employment, this is "UNACCEPTABLE". You don't call people at work and start a vague conversation about, I have some documents in front of me, but I can't really open, I can't really tell you what it is but they? Who's they? are sending me out to serve you at your place of employment to have you sign these "mystery" documents that she can't tell me about or open???? HELLO ....what the hell kind of phone call is this? Beat around the bush instead of getting direct to the point.... you have my name and phone number but REFUSE to tell me what your calling me about?>????

Same thing....I knew first thing that it was some type of scam because the first thing I do is get on the net and look up the number she gave me to call. Their number came up PRIVATE. And once I see that others are getting the same script, ITS A SCAM!

Ditto...this is the number that the company called me from today.  Same thing as everyone else.  Stating that they would be in my area within the next 24-48 hours to meet with me in person about signing some papers.  I don't have any idea what they're talking about.
