I have received numerous calls from this number and from an unknown number claiming to be someone who serves papers to people.  They have a claim number and have threatened to come to my job and tell everyone what a low life I am for not paying my bills. I have asked for documents showing the debt and can't seem to get anywhere. The server who calls from an unknown number says his name is Carl.  The other lady I have talked to is Rachel. He always tells me to call 1-855-847-8509 to clear this up and he will stop calling my work.

Most do as a rule yes. But we have seen the extortion scammers set up fake websites or even use and abuse real business names and attorneys as well.  So one can't rely on that aspect either  and some legit ones often violate the FDCPA laws also sadly.

Caller claims they have papers to be served and if I get back to them right away I have a chance to resolve the matter. However, they never state who they are working for or what the papers are for. They called two different days (I never answered only got voice mails) but stated they were going to personally serve papers the second day but never showed up. I am reporting this because I am certain that this is a scam to scare people into a payment they do not owe. I only confirmed that even more when tracking the business number only led me to this site or other sites with complaints of harassment. Real businesses usually have their numbers listed along with the business name online. I wish there was a way to expose these frauds and stop them from harassing, scaring, and exploiting other people.

My son is being harassed for over a year now by this 855-847-8509. Paul Case is his name. Says he's representing a company called BOR. Won't say what that stands for but what happened was this company somehow got my sons bank information, deposited 200.00 in his account and when he noticed it, called and said this must be a mistake and offered to give the money back right then. They wouldn't take it, saying it must be a loan he applied for.  Anyhow 6 months later they said he owed 1000.00 dollars. Then said a few weeks ago it was 642.00 but could settle for 250.00... Keep calling his work, saying they're coming to his house, etc... His bank changed his account number, and the police said to file fraudulent report with all 3 credit bureaus as well...  I just found out about all this so i'll be making calls to the FTC and States Attorneys office tomorrow. Not that this will do any good because it looks like these people use many different phone numbers to run this scam.  I just wish they could trace these calls and get to the bottom of it.....

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Threatening phone call from Carl and Rachel saying they were coming to my job to serve me papers for a payday loan. When I prompted for information they pretty much told me I was a loser for not paying my bills.

A really obnoxious guy called work about an employee saying there were "allegations" against her. I asked him if he was a bill collector and he wouldn't answer me. I took the number and gave the message to the employee who was off that day. He called back at the end of the day and told me it was my responsibility to get her to return the phone call. After more of this same thing, I again asked him if he was a bill collector and again he wouldn't answer. Then he said, "I know your address and I'm coming there tomorrow to find her."  I was pretty sharp with him about our rights and he finally hung up on me. Creep.

Piece of crap debt collector using illegal scare tactics to try and scare you into paying a debt that they cannot prove that you owe or may not even owe. Don?t verify any information or promise to make any payments. Good chance statute of limitation has already passed. Pay them no attention.

The person called stating they had a claim against me. They actually called my work number and asked for the head of my employment department. Then gave me a claim number but would not discuss what the claim was or who they were
