News update, talked to  my bank, mentioned how I suspected them of fraud, and the intimidation tactics, the banker agreed that intimidation is not a standard practice. I am hoping this company will be exposed.

Just received a call from Elliott Johnson from ARG & Associates stating that he was a process server and he needed to serve one of our employees.  I said not all of our employees are on site all day.  Elliott said that was ok because a manager or his supervisor can sign on his behalf (strike one) and I asked who the employee was.  He said that he could tell me because I was a manager.  As soon as I heard who the employee was I knew is was a scam because he has had problems in the past with them (strike two).  Elliott gave me a number to call back to make arrangements on behalf of my employee (strike three, you're out).  I asked Elliott how come when I google his phone number, it comes up as a scam.  He said he didn't know.  I said if it was a scam he should be ashamed of himself and he needed to find another job.  He said that he would take that under advisement and hung up on me.

I called tried to talk to these people tried to get information and settle this I was laughed at and hung up on and when I called back to talk to a supervisor the same person Alex came on laughed at me I stated I wanted to speak to his supervisor and he mockingly said "hold on I'll see if he's here yup he is how can I help you" and laughed at me then hung up on me again. These are some of the most obnoxiously rude collection people I've ever dealt with.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

An Ashley called and left a message on my answering machine for my brother-in-law saying his case # was 146194 and if he didn't call they would still proceed. Well, proceed on Ashley. If the FTC is the place to call, then I will do it.

Elspeth hit in right on the head.  If they cannot come up with the original contract, and I do mean original not a copy then they have nothing.  Federal law FSA 140 states that the original document must be shown to you or else the debt is null and void.

So everyone, this is what you need to do.  Even if you only have little information on this company because obviously they are a debt collector, please file a complaint with the FTC online.  If they get enough complaints about this particular phone number, they should do something about it.

Received a call 2 days in a row. 1st call stated they didn't mean to call my place of business and that they didn't know it was a place of business and that I needed to call the number back so I could be served a summons at my home.  2nd day, I was in a meeting and they told the receptionist that it was urgent and could they speak to my supervisor so she wasn't at her desk either and the call was transferred to a co-worker.  I don't like being stressed out over scammers as I believe them to be as I know if you are truly getting served, those serving you have your direct phone number at your desk, address as well as all of your home information.  I went on my credit report to put some blocks on it as well as make sure all information contained within them is legit.  Anything fishy disputed.

Received a voicemail from a blocked number stating that I had a case pending and provided me with case number.  Asked that I return the call.  I returned the call but did not provide any information.  The man answering the phone would only give me the initials of the company, ARG. He was aggressive, rude and would not provide me any additional information regarding the company. In the background I could hear others talking.

Is it possible that Amy is puffing smoke up our secret hide-e-holes?  That she became the first in the American Judicial System to be served a summons with absolutely nothing on it?

Amy, if you were served you were given a legal court summons.  In that summons it will advise who the plaintiff is and list you as the defendant. It will define why you are being sued and show court docket and case number,  as well as when to appear and county jurisdiction.  I would like to know who your summons lists as plaintiff, what they are sueing for and what they are seeking.  Please provide the information concerning date of court, location, docket number,  case number and such.
I would like very much to look into what you have said has happened, and how you can be served a summons without providing required information concerning this suit.  Please provide info soon as possible as I would like my neice to look into it also.  She serves as a court appointed attorney in Tulsa County in Oklahoma. She is a new attorney but is eager to jump right in tooth and nail on most anything...

It's a scam!  Legally, debt collectors MUST MAIL you a debt validation letter showing original creditor, how much you borrowed, and when.  Also they must include a copy of the ORIGINAL contract (signed by you).  Don't ever pay someone for a debt if they do not mail this information to you.  If they can't or won't send the debt validation letter to you, then tell them you've reported them as fraudsters to the FBI, the FTC and your state's Attorney General.

they said they was a lawyer and that I had an debt, if I didn't pay they would garnish my pay, or checking account, and/or put a lean on my truck. I asked if I could call back after I spoke with my husband, they said I have 24 hrs. I called back with a payment option for them but would not pay anything until I received papers on this ( I had never received  anything for this debt) then he denied my payment arrangement and said  I would have to deal with the court. I said ok and hung up. I don't know if this was for real or just a scam???????
