File a complaint with your local PD, State Attorney General and also with your phone service provider and tell them to block this number. Also have your company (work place) and family members file complaints on them.  Also see scam alerts post above.  There's a couple of articles over on the right side bar you can read and try also.

I been receiving phone calls for the last two years, from different Law firms, stating that I have both a civil and criminal case in my County, that I will be serve papers and that this is a timely manner, so I need to call back quickly, if I don't call them back and that I am served the papers I don't have call them back. This stuff has been going on for a long time, they call my family members, my work. I have reported the calls stop, then they start back up with a different Law company but same call back number. How do I get them to stop permanently, I am getting tired of this and so isn't my family

New Twists to Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) continues to receive complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. As previously reported in December 2010, the typical payday loan scam involves a caller who claims the victim is delinquent on a payday loan and must make payment to avoid legal consequences.

Callers pose as representatives of the FBI, ?Federal Legislative Department,? various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies and claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, or other Internet check-cashing services. The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment in attempts to obtain payment. The callers refuse to provide information regarding the alleged payday loan or any documentation and become verbally abusive when questioned.

The IC3 has observed variations of this scam in which the caller tells the victim that there are outstanding warrants for the victim?s arrest. The caller claims that the basis of the warrants is non-payment of the underlying loan and/or hacking. If it?s the latter, the caller tells the victim that he or she is wanted for hacking into a business? computer system to steal customer information. The caller will then demand payment via debit/credit card; in other cases, the caller further instructs victims to obtain a prepaid card to cover the payment.

The high-pressure collection tactics used by the fraudsters have also evolved. In one recent complaint, a person posed as a process server and appeared at the victim?s job. In another instance, a phony process server came to a victim?s home. In both cases, after claiming to be serving a court summons, the alleged process server said the victim could avoid going to court if he or she provided a debit card number for repayment of the loan.

If you are contacted by someone who is trying to collect a debt that you do not owe, you should:

   Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
   Contact your bank(s) and credit card companies;
   Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
   If you have received a legitimate loan and want to verify that you do not have any outstanding obligation, contact the loan company directly;
   File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

Weinberg and Associates are now Weinberg, Grace and Associates.  They have been calling me for months trying to collect a deb telling me that they are with a law firm.  DO NOT BELIVE THEM! They have threatened me with fraud and theft and that they were going to file with the courts.  Since I googled the name, I have found many people with the same problems I have had and found them to be a f fictitious and malicious company.  I had confronted this company about their so called Legal association and told them that they were nothing but scammers, the man on the other end had gotten quite angry with me and started yelling at me and that he was doing me a favor by contacting me before the court documents were filed.  Since then I have contacted an attorney, and he had told me to tell them that I will not pay a penny and they will not collect a penny, then I blocked their number from my phone, and now they are using another number to call me from.  My Attorney stated that it is not fraud nor is it theft and they cannot file legal actions against you for collecting a debt.

Okay if it was a legitimate bill then I would understand, however Weinberg called me about something my bank supposedly sent back.  I keep very good track of my bank account and there is nothing for years back that was sent back and not taken care of.  Oh and by the way its called Spell-check...learn it and use it.  Your grammar shows your lack of education...is that why you work for a collection agency that is a SCAM?  Go back to school and make an honest living.

Im tired of being harrassed by these idiots they call constantly tell me the same thing they are taking legal action im being served today your court date is next friday....well that time frame has passed i even told them to quit calling they said they wont, I am seriously thinking about consulting a lawyer anyone game to fight back against these morons!!!

These are not all from writing checks, its from old credit cards as well, and in my case it was paid off to another debt collector, these punks are trying to collect again on it. Three places are claiming the owe this debt, in actuality no one does it is paid off.

Good old Bob called me too, hung up on me once then said Ill be served today and then have to be in court by next Friday for a credit card that is out of statue of limitations here in Tx, he also said that they dont have to comply by these laws because he filed a civil suit against me for fraud against a financial institution. Ok so you called me i called you back asked you too many questions on this sooo call debt you say i have from back in 2005, and then you say you are taking me to court well please do serve me please....You can not sue a person in texas after statue of limitations has expired, there for i know there is no papers saying im going to court. You also do not have a surety bond in Tx to be even collecting debts in Texas, quit calling me I am recording every call that is made to you and I hope to end this harrassment. This so called company should be removed from any telephone company.  It's a total scam with bogus information only wanting your personal information which should NEVER be given anyone.

I too had a a message on my cell phone today stating they had a file and were pursuing fraud charges. I called back and asked where they were located, where the original debt was from and if they could please send me the original paperwork associated with this supposed debt as my identity was stolen several years ago and it has taken forever to get it all cleared up. I was told they didn't have the original paperwork, could not release the original name of the company but I could make a payment arrangement with them. I again reiterated I wanted all the original paperwork and knew I couldn't be held accountable for fraud as this is a civil matter not criminal. I had fraud committed against me and needed to turn the original paperwork over to my attorney as this was part of the stolen identity case I have. I was told rather rudely my atty could call them to request the paperwork. I just informed them I was reporting them to the atty gen in my state and the fair debt collections agency. They then hung up on me. Mind you my voicemail does not state who owns my phone so how did they know they were leaving the correct information for the correct person.

Nowadays most of these collection agencies are not even legit.  I have had a debt that i recently payed off with another agency and a month later i got a call form these morons saying that i owe this debt! i told them that i had payed it off and they wanted me to send a copy of the reciept to some PO BOX.  I asked them for a real address and they told me that is it, i said no its a po box.  so i sent them a letter with the reciept and payed to have it a certified letter that needs to be signed for.  Well, a month later i did not hear from them and guess what... the post office returned the letter to me saying that it was undeliverable because noone had signed for it!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then they called me once again! and i told them i sent them that certified letter and it was returned to me because noone had signed for it!!! then she pissed me off and i told her to F off! lol

These ppl are fly by night collectors that have like 10 different names.  I cant believe this country allows these kinds of businesses to exsist!  they need to make them be a legit business and have practice rules.  They do whatever the hell they want! i had them cussing at me one time, tell me that i will go to jail, everything.  These ppl are crooks! i am so pissed i want to find their headquarters and fly down there and have a little talk with these ppl! i think i just might.

This company calls everyday and leaves phone messages to call them back.  

I called and have requested multiple times to have my number removed.  The people answering will give no info about who they are other than "we are a law firm" and so and so said this is her number.  

It is apparent these morons cannot understand that she lied and gave a wrong number.  They are calling a corporate number that has not changed in over 10 years and no such person ever worked for this company.

Why dont you pay your bills.  Writing a bad check is illegal in every state.  Because of losers that I am reading is why people that pay there bills have to pay higher interest rates.  Dont write checks that wont clear losers

I think alot of these people here are a bunch of losers and dont know the law.  Its is illegal to write bad checks in any state.  Especially 5000 dollars worth of them in a 90 day period.  My ex-wife decided to do this and i will personally make sure she goes to jail.

Received a call this morning stating that on 2/14 there will be a warrant out for my arrest unless I make restituion on $500 Told DAvid Frost havent been employed for 2 years and he can Mr Obama to pay the bill.

I got a call from an agent from "Weinberg, Grace, & Associates."They were looking for my brother and asked for him by name. The agent said if he does not pay $373 in ten days, he would be charged with finacial fraud.

How do I know if this is legit???

Just an update on my last comment - I called the offices today to advise them that I am sending them a cease communication letter and have filed a complaint with the FTC.  A couple of funny things happened:

1) I barely was able to talk because this "Gerry" person wouldn't shut the hell up

2) When I did get the chance, it was to be told that they have NO record of me or MY MOTHER speaking with anyone

3)  When I asked for PROOF of my "debt" I was insulted and told that I should have proof with the fact that I spent the money I borrowed and the stuff should be lying around my house!

and 4) (this is the greatest)  after I pointed out that they cannot threaten to send me to jail for fraud because of a debt, she said that they could.  I started quoting what the law is and she just starting talking over me again...so I said that I am done with the call and I have already filed a complaint with the FTC...her response...."file a complaint with your mother."  then she hung up on me!!!   No Joke people...ahhhh professionalism is alive and well!

If you get a call from them, and they don't physically show you proof of your "debt" but continue to call and harrass you.....just file the complaint and send the cease communication letter...and the next time they call...advise them of this!!   It's amazing how fast they hang up on you after an extremely "whitty" remark.  Oh, and they told me that they weren't debt collectors - they are debt "mediators"...LOL

I agree with a previous post, if you work for a legitimate collection service, why don't you post the physical address of the supposed "business!!"  Your grammar is incredibly pathetic....you really need to go back and get your GED instead of pitifully attempting to post your "diarrhea of the mouth" notes. All of you bashers are ASSUMING that people have not paid their bills.  It is sadly, very common, for scam collection agencies claim that a consumer has not paid a bill, when in actuality, they have.  Lazy low lifes are trying to steal money from unsuspecting people. Weinberg, Grace and Associates keeps calling my mother after I SPOKE with them and advised them that this is not my debt.  They call her constantly even after she has told them that I do not live there.  They do not call my home number and harrass me with this.  They even told her that they are going to sue me for fraud and have 3 cases against me in Alpaco or Alpaso County?  I have no idea where that is, and considering that they have been calling for over 6 months about this and threatening the same thing all that time, and NEVER sending me any sort of REAL documentation, I can automatically see that this is a scam.  I filed my report with the FTC today and am sending in my letter to cease communication.  If this does not stop, my next call will be to my lawyer!
