I have been getting these calls for months!  Telling me I have fraud charges.  I sometimes get one hour to call back if I want to settle this matter and avoid charges....If it passes that one hour time frame...I guess I cant avoid these fraud charges.  OKAY. They will never tell me what the fraud charge is for...will not give me name of company they are calling from or location.  They say they cant give me this info unless they have my SS #.  Strange considering they called me and want my personal info for validation it is me. Whatever!  They will even call my relatives on their home phones, they dont call their cell numbers.

They keep telling me I will be served....Well serve me already then you can quit calling and bugging me! I have been given a different 855- # with each phone call so it sounds to me like they change their number often.

I have contacted the attorney general office and told them about these phone calls.  They said it is a scam, dont ever give them any personal info and end the call.  I was just wondering if someone noticed when these calls started occuring?....after an online purchase maybe?  I think that is when I noticed mine.  I bought some of those coffee bean pills off a random site.  Not sure.  These jerks got my cell number somewhere.

Prank Call
I have been called twice by these people. A lady named "Linda Miller" left a voicemail on my work phone today to tell me that there is a fraud case against me and that I need to call them back and give them a case number for reference. She told me that if I did not call them back they would be coming to my place of employment with the authorities and if I was not there, they would try to "track me down" at all of my previous addresses listed. These calls are obviously scams. A man called a couple of weeks ago with the same script, telling me he would send authorities within hours to serve me. I never call back and I am still waiting for "authorities" to show up at my work. Don't let these people bully you. I'm sure they are going to tell you that you can settle your "case out of court if you just pay them now. When you refuse or demand proof, they will use every curse word in the book to scare you into paying them. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION OR PAY THEM!! I don't know why I keep receiving these kinds of phone calls. A few years ago, an individual named "John Smith" (how original haha) with a Middle Eastern accent threatened to send cops after me because I owed his company on a loan. I asked them for proof and he said he could not disclose anything with me until I gave him my social security number to verifty who I am. I refused to give it to him and he continued to threaten me. He told me that I had to pay the loan back with a credit card over the phone. Thinking I could pull a fast one on him and get him to tell me his location, I told him I would send him a check because I didn't have a credit card. He told me that I needed to buy a prepaid credit card and call him back because his company doesn't take checks, that they are illegal. The people making the phone calls are worthless, pathetic, sorry excuse for human beings. Do not let them scare you!!!

I've looked on casenet (for Missouri) and there's nothing there stating that I'm about to be in a "civil suit".  Is this a real state processor or a debt collector?

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Debt Collector
I also received a message on my home phone, cell phone, ex-inlaws phone, stating that this is Tiffany Johnson (state process server)asking me to call 855-858-8139 in 2 hours to take care of a debt or I will be served at home or place of employment.  I have received calls from these people for several months now stating that I owe for a payday loan at Cash Advance, I have never taken out a loan at Cash Advance.  I have reported them to the FTC and told them to send me information so I can forward it to my attorney, they only get obnoxious and start cussing you out.  They will not send information to me or my attorney, they just keep calling and harrassing me from different and private numbers.

Debt Collector
received a call from a Michelle Thomas (process server) who left me a message telling me to call the "plaintiff" at 855-858-8139 regarding a legal matter/M Thomas also called my work and spoke to one of my co-workers and left the same message with her.  I was told that I would be served at my home or place of employment today.
When I called the number back, the lady I spoke to was rude and obnoxious and told me that I was refusing to take care of the matter/I told her I had given their information to my attorney.  When I spoke to them last week, they told me that they would contact my attorney, but never did according to the atty's office
when I asked them where they were located I was told Buffalo NY and in fact, they are in Tonawanda NY/I asked the address and was refused the information
