Jared, my experience with Pro Consumer has been terrible! Not only did they not provide what they promised, but THEY CHEATED US OUT OF TRAVEL TO OUR SON'S MEMORIAL SERVICE AFTER HE WAS KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN! If you have any ideas on how to bring a class action suit or something, let me know! Krippner

Wife and I went to presentation in October. Please do not invest $5000 of your hard earned money. You will not live long enough or buy enough to amass $5000 in savings. We got the Cruise certificate and sent it in, but have yet to hear from the company.

My wife and I went through this presentation last night... basically after the presentation I told them I wasn't comfortable dropping $5K on something without a little research... the lady we were talking to said fine and we left... no biggie... total of about 90 minutes... same as others...
The guy that did the presentation did mention that in the past that some folks had problems redeeming their cruise certificates (saying it was taking up to 8 weeks or so).. he told us that they complained to the marketing company that they buy those vouchers from and said that they have redone the way you redeem the vouchers... now you just have to go to a website and enter a code that is on the voucher they gave us... then from there we can supposedly book our cruise... but we have to do it within 21 days...
My wife is supposed to go on the website and do it today... I'll try to remember to post an update once we see what its all about...

What happened Jared after that, Did you went to curse??
Shcyclingtx 2011-11-08 21:27:55 Unknown
Pretty much the same story as Jared above. Went to the presentation at a local Motel, listened to the spill, decided it was a bunch of *****, so they gave me the certificate and same instructions as Jared. Filled out the information and mailed the next day. A good stamp flushed down the toilet, that was about two months ago, and no word yet from them. Lost about ten pounds waiting on the Olive Garden gift certificate. There goes an hour and a half of my life I will never see any benefits from.

I know several people who have gone to presentations, got the vouchers and actually went on the cruises. The reason they offer the free cruise it any other free vacation is to get you to come listen to them and potentially buy their product. It is an offer to get you in the door. Would you go to one of these presentations just to go without being given something in return? I doubt it. Yes, it may be limited and be a bit of a hassle, and you have to pay taxes and fees which the government regulates, not the cruiselines, but the cruise itself is free. You have to work a little bit, but it's free. I'm bit trying to talk anyone into going through with this, I'm just saying it is what it is. We actually went to the presentation in early August and mailed form the very next day and haven't gotten anything back. Registration fee isn't paid when you send in the initial form. Good luck to all!

My wife and I were thinking this was too good to be true but, we ventured a 30 mile trip to listen to a "pitch man" for PRO CONSUMER tell us how we'll receive the vouchers for the "free cruise" for listening to his 45 minute sales presentation which ended up being 1 hour 10 minutes. Watch out for these guys particularly since they use the FREE CRUISE to snag you. The cost for a membership is $5000 plus an annual maintenance fee. During the presentation no company financials were shared or discussed, reminds me of Madoff or Enron! By the way another red flag is that PRO CONSUMER is not a BBB member. If they PRO CONSUMER use a shady cruise to get you in the door I'll bet the rest of their business dealing are likewise shady!

We've tried this . . . .waiting to see what result is. We sat through the presentation, said "no" to the $5000-$6000 offer, and got our certificate. Mailed in the $99 and the certificate. I guess they aren't going to pull the "wasn't filled out correctly" scam with us. We got a letter thanking us for registering for our complimentary cruise and had us fill out a form. It was not a package with a list of possible trips to take. We were instructed to visit the website of any cruise line to check for information on available cruises. It was originally advertised as being a Galveston port of call, but this actually let us choose what date, what cruise line, and what port we wanted. It says they will contact us by email no later than 30 days prior to the departure date. We chose a Dec 4 departure, so we should know in the next 2 weeks if they are actually going to contact us. I'll report back then.

I posted earlier that we once did this (with another company) and got the cruise and had a good time... So we went. And we declined. And we sent in the voucher. And we got the "certificate" or whatever they call it and THERE was the catch. The only time you can cruise is a tiny window of time (I think in October), and the deadlines are impossible to meet (as in, you have 17 minutes to return this to us with a $100 non-refundable fee, and, oh yeah, we started the timer 20 minutes ago...). And it says they have the right to change your date, destination, and departure port without recourse on your part. You get the picture. So there you have it!

I think they ripped you off by $100......

zoerenee 2011-09-27 03:01:34 Unknown
do you honestly think this thing is legit???? They are a bunch of scam artists making the rounds and preying on naive, trusting people. I cannot believe how brazen they are! Steer clear and save your money!
Not a Sucker 2011-09-23 04:13:52 Unknown
Don't buy into this scam! It all seemed sleazy to me....I will be surprised if I even receive the coupon for the dinner at Olive Garden. Why don't people like these get busted??
Danny K 2011-09-21 13:37:44 Unknown
Went through same deal as everyone else explained. We are now on our 5th week of waiting for the free cruise info.

So I am back,
So I did a lot of research and calling to the BBB and found the company which is registered in Oklahoma and has been around since 1994 or so. The website is Pro-consumer.com and http://www.tpc-protravel.com . I am at work and don?t have all the information with me. Off the top of my head, you had to pay around 6 to 8,000 and a yearly fee of 300 to 400 and it?s a lifetime deal which is transferable. The 8,000 one included lifetime 1 week use of a timeshare and 1000 towards a cruise, this one you could add 4 authorized people to it. It would take up to 20 days to receive whatever you bought. I did put in an enquiry to an item I wanted but because I work for a major company and get discounts they needed me to send in proof. I did but I cancelled at the same time. I did not get a good vibe from them especially since I told them look, I am shelling out a lot of money and I feel like this is a scam give me some proof, they told me I could search for them in Oklahoma in the BBB, it is there but not rated which she said they had an A; Not that it wasn?t a legitimate business but a crappy one which someone probable was thinking of a get rich quick scheme. I did cancel my credit card and read the fine print that said you ca cancel but within 3 days and had to return all materials which I FEDEXED back to Oklahoma. Turns out my husband has a friend who is an authorized user and uses it to go on cruises. I did mail in my certificate as delivery confirmation and I am still waiting to see what happens. I Will keep the posts coming too. I know this is not written with the best train of thought but I am in a hurry.

Update:
So when I mailed in my certificate on 7/25/2011, I actually sent it via certified mail. I verified that it was received on 8/1/2011. It has now been over a month (my copy of the certificate says "please allow 2-4 weeks for processing"). So...I called the original phone number on my postcard and I asked about the status of my certificate. I told them I sent it in over a month and haven't received anything. She told me on the phone "It actually takes 4-6 weeks". Then a second later she said "Actually 6-8 weeks". I told her my certificate says 2-4 weeks but she said that was wrong. I asked her if she could check on the status and she said that she didn't have the ability to, but I could go to the promotional company's website and send in an email. I asked for a phone number but she didn't have one. The website she gave me was: http://www.promotravelinfo.com. I submitted a request to see if anything comes of it. Again I am very skeptical but just out of curiosity I plan to follow the trail for as long as I can until they start asking for real money...
I was also able to find this other thread that looks like it's the same company. There are a couple phone numbers in there that I might try... http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-925-9304
Thanks nbtraveler for posting the protravel website...don't know how you found that but I couldn't find anything on them.

Oh, the more you let them steal from you, the better you'll feel? Scammer's logic to be sure!

The program works, but you do need to spend some time learning how to use it to your advantage. I just got through booking a snow skii vacation to Steamboat for two families (8 people), and will save about $2000 so far. Just like anything else, you will get better at using the program as you become more and more knowledgeable.

I went on the cruise and had a blast. Cruising is the way to vacation.
I received my package in about 3 weeks. I took the cruise 6 months later. Just had to pay port fees and taxes and I tipped some of the people on board. Also won about $1200 at the craps table. Like I said, I had a great time.
