I got a bogus call of "several fraud charges failure to response" from a Richard Burns of APR associates.
The number they gave is 855-707-1503.
Is there any way we could report this scam to the authorities?  This is really bad case. Need to stop scamming people please.

I just got a call from APR Associates except the number was 855-820-6374. I got told the same thing everyone of you here got told. I was being investigated for check fraud for a pay day loan but the lady refused to give me any specifics. When I argued with her about needing specifics she said "it is against our policy to go back and fourth you people". This lady pissed me off to no end

Your callers do NOT "run" this website - in fact, this website is here precisely to help people who get unknown/spam/scam calls.  Since you are receiving more calls in spite of the cease and desist letters you've previously sent, yes, you should definitely see a consumer lawyer.

Debt is civil, not criminal, so there are NO charges.  Failure to pay back a loan is NOT "malicious intent and fraud of a company".  In fact, it's very difficult to prove fraud, especially for a payday loan.  And you are correct - you would receive dunning letters in the mail from the payday lenders you owed.  Per the FDCPA, you should NOT pay any caller (other than the original owner of the debt) unless they MAIL a debt validation letter showing you owe a debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail the DV letter within five days of the first call is a violation of federal law and you should not pay them.  More info here:

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.
For extortion Scam Operations, file reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..

It's been a few years since I've heard from this ring of scammers and it seems like nothing has changed with them. Same script, same song and dance. I don't think cease and desist letters have an expiration date so I guess they feel good enough to be losing money by being fined again because they're calling me again.

I know for a fact that they read these pages and there's a good possibility that they run this website. So here's my message to you:

I know you are not legit. I know your operation is a scam and very illegal. Hiding your call with a blocked number actually hurts you more than it protects. I have your address, so expect to receive another cease and desist letter within a week. Also expect some form of communication from either my and/or your state's attorney general's office in the near future. We've been thru this before in the past and the results were not in your favor, and it will continue to be that way. Forms have already been filed with the FTC. There's a lot of legality in the manner of which I will move forward with this. No empty threats, no broken promises. That's the difference between you and I. I can say for sure that no one will be knocking at my door or visiting my place of employment to "serve me papers", but I cannot say the same for you. Good luck to you.

They contacted two of my family members saying Charges would be filed against me in the county where I live, regarding malicious intent and fraud of a company. I have gotten payday loans before and I've had debt collectors contact me before, but their never threatening and they never contact my family members. They would send me letters in the mail and if they were going to take legal action, they did and my check was garnished, that's it. I got the info from my sister and called back, never verified who I was. I asked what the company was and she said APR Associates and that she was Stacy Jackson. She was calm and a red flag for me is if this is a legit company, regardless if I say I'm her sister and don't give a name the information shouldn't be discussed with me at all. Even if I have the "reference #" It should be, "What's your name" or "This is a legal matter and I can only speak with..." I'm wondering should I take legal action? I don't know what to do at this point. It was helpful finding this post. I'm glad I googled the number

Don't know what to do now

Received a blocked call this morning from someone named Blayne Roberts from "API & Associates" and that they were investigating me for criminal charges of check fraud, but when I called back (855-885-4890) they were "APR" & then "APR & Associates. They tried to say that I owe on a payday loan and proceeded to become rude with me, especially when they 3-wayed the supposed payday company and wanted me to verify info. I was transferred around between multiple ppl or it could have been the same 3 ppl just using different names, they all did sound alike (spoke to Stacy Jackson, Chris Jackson, Melvin Jackson & Blayne Roberts... only one of them was creative lol). I hung up to do some further research and then called back. Asked for full business name, alias business name, non 800 phone number, mailing & physical address. "Melvin" refused to give me that information and hung up on me. I then called back (figure you want to harass me, I can do the same in return) as soon as I gave my name, I was put on hold and Melvin picked up, he proceeded to talk over me, told me to have my attorney call them if he wanted the info, then said that someone was already on their way out to serve me. How did I go from being investigated one second to be already being served the next? Damn, I have worked with process servers and the court and have never received service that quickly. I informed him that I would be contacting the FCC to file a complaint and he hung up on me... lol.. I figure I can spend my day calling them and harassing them, since thats what they do to others. Do not verify info with this company, do not give this company any money, in fact do to them what they do to us, call them constantly and harass them.

Received a call from a man who called himself Blane from APR. Left a case number, said to call right away as I was being looked at for check fraud? And I was going to receive a warrant either at home or at work. Now first of all my answering machine does not say who they have contacted or if it is the right number, so legally since they can't be sure its me, they left a message for me but had no proof it was my phone. F or FedUp above, this has nothing to do with whether you have checks or a checking account.  This is a about getting loans from a payday loan and not paying it back.  It took me a long time to find all this out.  They consider it check fraud because they give you money and you don't pay them back.  It is also a red flag that someone could be taking loans out and sending the money overseas re:to fund terrorism. Its a leap but it happens. I had to register with the FBI/state police and city police as they started to make physical threats and obscene calls.  Keep a log of the calls or keep the messages, the time you get them, name of person calling. There are laws to protect you.  If you have taken out a payday loan and not paid it, and are getting calls like these,it means the lender has sold your loan for pennies on the dollar to one of these scumbag companies who have no moral compass and will stop at nothing. A good way to let others know is to put a fraud warning on the 3 top credit agencies, it lasts 90 days and you can always renew the warning. Do not inform your place of employment because more than likely they will never show up.  Let your family know or friends so they know what to expect. Remember, what info they don't have when they call they can get from social media, Facebook, etc.  Once they have enough, they can pull a report, it only costs $25.00.  If you answer the phone do not identify yourself or acknowledge your social security# even if they only tell you the last 4 digits, that's all they need.  Good luck!

I got a call from this number today and they are asking for Katherine Williams.  Refrecened a file number and detailed info on why they were calling... she has been named a person of interest... I don't even know this person... said she was calling from APR & Associates... Couldn't understand her name.  Called the number back.. disconnected LOL... Looked up who the company was... there are different ones under that name (not exact wording) and they are architect, auditors, etc.

Received a very threatening message from someone using an obvious fake name, like James Avery or something like that. He was referencing a relative of mine and said that they were being investigated for check fraud. He referenced attorneys, court case number, etc., with a very threatening tone and manner. It all was bogus - if you studied and really thought about what the guy was saying, he never really said anything. No real specifics. Everything was generalized. This is a total scam. These scumbags called several months ago too. Not only my phone, but my parents phone too. The same threatening message each time. They threaten they're going to serve papers, etc. It appears to me that they use these scare tactics on unsuspecting people with the ultimate goal of obtaining some sort of payment method - credit card, bank account, etc. to make it go away. The sad thing is - is that I'm sure someone gets scammed by these degenerates in every round of calls they make. If they make 1,000 calls a day, I'm sure there is a percentage that buys into this BS and gives up their info. Don't disclose anything. Ignore the calls or confront these b*****ds. I hope they call again and maybe I'll play into their game a little and then when I'm just when they think they're going to get my credit card info, I say "Ok, it's 4333 54 KISSMYASS... come serve me with your papers, a***oles."

Received a call from a blocked number. Message left saying a Ms. Hicks needed to speak to me. Immediately afterwards, the same call to my husbands phone. Within 5 minutes my mother calls me (over 200 miles away) and says a Ms. Hicks from the law firm of Pratcher and Darry needs to speak to me. The lady on the phone also said I had given my father as a reference which is totally untrue. I have not lived with my parents in over 25 years much less need to give my father as a reference for anything!

Infuriated regarding the call to my parents, I returned the call to the number left on the message. The lady asked for my name, put me on hold, and another call came in from the "blocked" number while I was on hold. I answered it and it was the same freaking lady that answered the phone!! She immediately asked if I could verify my name and then asked if the last 4 digits of my ssn were ****. When I told her she wasn't getting ANY info about my ssn she immediately became rude and I hung up on her.
