Someone from this # has called me twice in two days. Never left a message. When I try to call back, automated message speaks in a foreign language. Then hangs up. How very rude!

He identified himself as Bruce with a heavy accent. He told me if I logged on I would notice my computer was not working. Interestingly I was using it when I got up to answer the phone

A man with a thick Indian accent called saying there was a problem with my Microsoft update. He asked me to go to my computer and press the "windows" key. When I informed him that my Mac doesn't have a windows key, he said he must have the wrong number and hung up.
Texas Dude 2014-05-15 15:15:47 Unknown
Received similar call as posted here. Man with Indian accent calling saying he is from Microsoft and he is calling regarding my "windows computer." When asked for more details, he continued to say, it is your "windows computer" and when I told him I do not have a windows computer and use Macs, he hung up. Called back later to try again, I told him I do not have a windows computer and he said goodbye.
The first time they called, the number was listed as UNKNOWN. The second time the number came through as 855-888-5881.

Lady call with an India accent. Claiming to be from the IRS. She wanted to know the name of my lawyer. I said I do not have one. Why. About a form? I said, I just pay my taxes. I also said, IRS will only send a certify letter. Then she hung up.

They just called again for the 3rd time today and they use different numbers every time....from now on.....I'm talking w/them and making fun of them and just enjoying their disbelief....last time he asked me if I was joking with him and I said "Sure am"........He then called me a Mother-F-ing Loser and said F-you.....I said keep on talking I'm enjoying this....call me more often.....Heck nothing is working....this has been going on for about 6 months and is progressing worse and worse. Maybe if we all do this, they will get frustrated and stop, or maybe I'll grab a cup of coffee and keep on listening till they get mad and hang up.

We too heard from this scam outfit. We have a new computer, and I am with the U of A, MIS , PHD dept. I told the caller to get his supervisor and I told him I was going to turn him in. He sure wanted to get off the phone. I have the top coverage available and this computer works great. I have put in a call to my big shot friend at Microsoft and to our state attorney generals office. they said this is a common rip off and are sending me papers to fill out. compfixo I think. is the name of the company.

Well your friend Apu is lying. Ceylon-Tech are just another bunch of fraudulent scammers. They are 'very, very good' at scamming people, but that is all.
Homer 2014-03-04 16:57:37 Unknown
My friend Apu runs a convenience store here in Springfield and tells me that Ceylon-tech is 'very, very good".

The post you are replying to was made in October 2012. He could have built his own bridge by now!!
Aitch 2014-03-01 19:03:47 Unknown
You actually fell for the scam? And you claim that you're experienced with computer set up and configuration? I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you?

Change any and all passwords everyplace you have online, make them hard also using numbers and letters. Make sure your antivirus is on and run it. Back that with a online virus check scan, I think Nortons and McAfee still have those. Download Malware Bytes, you can find it over on file hippo and run it. Spybot Search and Destroy is a good backup for the antivirus also, and you can find it on file hippo also. Download it and update it, then run it.
If you are not tech savvy, then take it to a real live tech! One you can see face to face.
The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

I got a call from Compfixo 800-786-0970. Then a call from Ceylon-Tech 855-888-5881. The name of the technician is "Stanley Peterson". Unfortunately I allowed him to get acces to my computer and they were able to show me the applications that are not functioning or stopped for Microsoft. The technician wanted to set me up with a contract fos $299.99 for two years and have a personal coach to help me with computer problems. My question is at this point, am I at risk to be hacked o can they get to my computer and personal information? What can I do at this time? I gave them the the ID and password to have acces to the computer. Please advise.

This is a Telemarketer from India:
I have a very sad story to tell on how we got scam by this b*****d, I flew out of the country due to my mother pass away. They called my wife that doesn't know anything about computer, In short they were successful on their sales strategy, they forced her to get into my computer and charged her $159 subscription for whatever b***s*** they offered. I keep calling them to terminate the contract, spoken with account manager named Barnali but everything is just promise up to this time. I hope this people operating this company doesn't get BAD KARMA!

I just had an encounter with Compfixo. I reluctantly gave in and installed the TechinlineClient.exe. He started to access Event Viewer? Explaining that he was in the process of showing me the errors on my computer. I didn't feel comfortable with someone controlling my laptop like that so I disconnected.
Just wondering if anybody knows how I can make sure that this .exe file is off my laptop??

I'm in surrey, B.C. and I just received a phone call from this number. WARNING: do not go on your computer to give personal information to them or even just do as they ask. They claim to know that your computer is not updating properly and you are getting pop-ups. I work with computers for a living and have seen so many people become a victim of this sort of 'abuse'. It has gone far enough to getting a persons' banking info, passwords etc. Beware, if you really are having problems go to a technician, do not trust anyone on the phone.
I purposely let the person go on and explain how he knew something was wrong with my computer and then confronted him at the end telling him I don't even have a windows based computer, I'm a mac user, whatever lies you said to me are not even possible. He changed the topic and said 'Oh I must have called the wrong number.' Bullcrap!
NEVER BELIEVE ANYONE CALLING ABOUT YOUR COMPUTER PROBLEMS, IT'S A SCAM!!!!
Another no. is 778-329-7238 that they call from
Jen 2013-09-13 18:50:03 Telemarketer

Just got a call on my cell phone about this and the guy said his name was David Miller.....He defitnately was not a David Miller.....I kept giving him the run around until he gave me his "name" and contact information. SCAM!!!!
Karen 2013-07-31 19:42:09 Unknown
that was kinda mean. They don't get your phone number from a phone book. They got my number and I am positive that my cell phone is not listed in the phone book. They buy lists from people on line that you provide a phone number to.
Think before you speak
Karen 2013-07-31 19:38:59 Unknown
Sir, Please know that if someone calls you and tells you that there is a problem with your computer, then why would you have to provide them with any information. If they already know you have problems, then you wouldn't have to provide them with any further information. No one is going to call you on the phone and tell you there is an issue with your computer or bank account. so please DO NOT EVER GIVE ANYONE YOUR INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. If they are a legit business they will understand. Even if they provide you with a phone number, remember anyone can get a phone number. Foreign countries are scamming a lot of americans out of their hard earned money. I would call the bank and make sure that no other money goes out to this company. If they already have your account number, I am sure they WILL use it again. They cannot be caught, that is why they do it.
