Said was from Primary Financial and wanted last 4 of social, dob and home address. I told her I give no information over phone to someone who calls me having been the victim of fraud in the past. No idea who these people are. The number they called from was 385-290-4342 but she gave 855-894-1128 to call back. I have no debts and I won't give that information they won't tell me what it's about other than a "personal matter"

I think a scammer got hold of a Costco Amex customer list. They are trolling to find uncashed checks in order to have them reissued ... will no doubt claim "i moved, can you change my address and send that check here instead"

I got the same call a few days ago. Same as above. They asked if I had used my Costco Amex cheque. Replied I did. They said thank you and that was it. Weird. Costco Amex never called me before to find out if I had used my cheque or not. I figured there wasn't any harm done in answering their 2 simple questions...

I also received a call from this number and the person identified himself as Alliance, associated with American Express.  He asked for the last 4 digits of my phone number, which of course I didn't provide because of the nonsense of that.  I asked him the purpose of the call but he said he couldn't reveal that until he confirmed my identity.  He then said he could take my full mailing address instead, which of course i also refused.  I again asked the purpose of his call but he launched into a long spiel which I could not interrupt despite trying so I finally hung up.  I then called American Express and asked if the name of the company and associated phone number were legitimate and they confirmed that it was was one their marketing companies that they contracted with.  They did not seem to be concerned with the bigger picture of this; i.e. that such calls reek of fraud and they shouldn't be associated with that.  I am also concerned with the impact of such calls on elderly people who could be taken in by this or similar calls that truly are fraud.  I have asked that a manager at Am Ex call me back to discuss all of this and have been promised that will happen.

Event Reminder
I got a call from this number. They identified themselves as "Alliance, on behalf of American Express". They asked to speak to me, and then asked me to confirm the last four digits of my home number, citing a need to ensure privacy.  I figured they probably knew this already since they had just called me on the number, so I repeated it to them.
They said they were doing a courtesy call to see if I had received my bonus check with my January statement, as they noticed I hadn't used it yet, and it expires in July (it's late April now).  I told them I hadn't, and they said I could call Amex and they'd be able to reissue it. They reminded to do it soon because of the expiry date of the check.
Then they said bye and that was it.
No scam, and quite useful info.

Received this call on my phone yesterday. April 20, 2013. I was not home to pick it up. I wondered, a call from Amex??
Since there are so many scam calls now I decided to google it.  So as suspected a scam. I wonder where they get this information about personal things like your name etc??

This number called me saying from American Express, the caller I D showed Alliance Amex. The guy could say my name and telling me there was no sale call but with  good deals and right away asking me the security number of my card( AE credit card).  It was very scary. How can you tell a stranger any info.

Alliance-AmexCo => Caller ID

Operator stated my name, but not properly and claimed it was a courtesy call and wanted to know the last four digits of the pone number they were calling.  I told her to tell me the numbers, since she had called me!  She said good bye instead.
