The address at 5224 West State Route 46, Suite 319, Sanford, FL which is listed as United Credit Recovery with the BBB is a Bank of America. So it makes me wonder how the BBB can give them a B- rating with a BOGUS address

After doing a little more research, it turns out that there is NO Law firm in Ca. by that name also the BBB has no record of this law firm

This is one of a hundred collection agencies that buys debt and fake affidavits from united credit recovery.  United credit recovery buys it from the bank with the advisement that it may not be accurate and they can get a refund for bad accounts or wrong amounts.  Instead, united credit recovery uses photoshop to create a fake affidavit on the bank letterhead that makes people believe they have to pay whether they owe or not.  You can tell that it is photoshopped if you look at it.  The fonts are slightly off and part of it is tilted.   Some agencies even use these fake affidavits to threaten to arrest people.  BE AWARE.  United credit recovery bought it from the bank and sold it to these guys with a fake affidavit to remove your options in disputing it!  United credit is a real company, they are just not an above board one.  They are the center of this criminal enterprise that works its way into hundreds of collection agencies.  About two agencies a year get shut down for working with united credit recovery.  They just keep adding new ones and expanding their scam!

if anyone else contacts you, look up their information via the California State Bar

http://www.calbar.ca.gov/Attorneys.aspx

also, look up the Business information on Better Business Bureau.
they told me that the debt had been bought from RM Funding, but when I looked them up, there was no RM Funding.
when you look Palmar & Associates up , this is what is found

IF YOU ACTUALLY LOOK UP THIS STEVEN MARTINEZ GUY, YOU WILL ACTUALLY SEE THAT HE HAS BEEN IN LEGAL TROUBLE BEFORE.

ANYONE WHO CONTACTS YOU AND SAYS THEY ARE A LAWYER CAN BE LOOKED UP ON THE CALIFORNIA STATE BAR .
YOU WILL FIND ALL INFO ABOUT STEVEN MARTINEZ HERE  http://members.calbar.ca.gov/fal/Member/Detail/153163

"Martinez stipulated to 10 acts of misconduct in six matters. For almost four years, he operated a branch law office in Westminster that was run by two non-lawyers who engaged in conduct that constituted the practice of law. Although he was not aware of their misconduct, he was grossly negligent in not knowing that they were engaged in activities that constituted legal practice. He stipulated that by failing to supervise his employees, he allowed them to engage in the unlawful practice of law.
Among other things, the non-lawyers signed up clients, negotiated and settled their claims, paid some settlement funds, accepted settlement funds for other clients but never distributed the money, and did not pay medical bills.
.." The employee negotiated and settled the investigators? claims, received settlement checks from an insurance company and gave the two 50 percent of the proceeds."

I have unknowingly signed and given information to Palmar & Associates and definitely plan on taking legal action to protect my IDENTITY and my CREDIT.

Hi,

Hope you are feeling better now that some time has passed. The address in your post actually in a small complex with the Hanneman Law Firm, and employment attorney, and a UPS Store with mailbox rentals. The phone number you posted 855-966-0081 has the same people answering as several other phone numbers in this forum. The woman who answered the phone is actually one of the people who also makes outbound calls by a different name as proven with voice recognition software.  It looks like we are getting close to nabbing some folks. Wouldn't it be fun to camp out by their mailbox and tackle the first person who goes to check it? I sure wish the law would do that!

The exact same thing just happened to me a few seconds ago..... This guy William Evans is a JOKE, I appreciate the info and good luck to all those that hear from this CLOWN.... My advise to all those that have owed money to CC Companies, consider yourselves PAID IN FULL. I am quite certain you have paid more than enough to cover what is owed from all the interest the CC Company was charging....

WILLIAM EVANS, YOU MY FRIEND ARE A TOTAL DO***E BAG.......

You will be caught and end up in jail for fraud. Scare tactics are threats, that's what you do. How do you sleep at night? Try putting as much effort in honest hard work as you do in scams and perhaps you will be blessed.

The gentlemen that I spoke to also referenced Steven Martinez but said that he was from PM Funding/RM Funding. He was unable to give me a contact # for PM Funding so I could contact them to verify the debt. He also stated that they would settle for $350 of the $1200 reportedly owed but it could only be paid by directly depositing the money into their Bank of America account or on a Wal-Mart pre-paid credit card. I told him that I would need him to send me (via USPS) verification of liability of the debt owed before we'd be submitting any payment.

I was a reck when i hung up. My debt is from 2007 an i forgot it even existed. Im still nervous an don't know what i should do. ANY ADVICE TOLD BE SO APPRECIATED. I am far from legal smart. :(

I got the very same similar calls, threatening  civil action, and they even went as far as saying my husband was evading the law. I called the Police department, and they called them to tell them to stop threatening us!  Call the Police department and report these scam artists. Do NOT give them any personal information! Much less waste your time with these criminals. Call the police!

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>
