Yes, if they were legitimate, they would have your address.  And if they were legitimate, they would also NOT call you, the process server would just show up with the "papers".

Next time they call, tell them that per the FDCPA, you will not be paying them a dime unless they MAIL a debt validation letter showing that (1) you owe a debt and that (2) they have the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to MAIL this documentation to you is a violation of the FDCPA, and per the FDCPA, you should not pay them.  BTW, a bill or invoice is NOT a debt validation letter.  The DV letter should show original creditor, date of loan, amount of loan, amount still owed, and date of last payment.  Oh, and do NOT give them your current address or employment address - again, if they were legitimate, they would already have this information.  More info. here:

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.
For extortion Scam Operations, file reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..

Oh, it gets better.....this morning, I got a call from "Ryan Phillips, Private Locator," lol....and he said, and I quote...."Is there some reason you haven't contacted the firm?"   THE FIRM!  As if we're in a Tom Clancy novel!  I replied with...."Is there any reason you don't have a real job?"  Then hung up.

This was promptly followed by another call from said "Private Locator" (that still makes me laugh).....so I ignored it, and got a voice mail from him, trying to sound all ominous, saying things like "I've located an address....this is your last warning."  I've saved voice mail.  These people are beyond reprehensible and I'm determined to take them down.  Anyone with any further info on them, address, fake names, etc., would be much appreciated.  Of course, they won't give you their address because they're scammers, but we can try.

This is a scam operation.  I work in law and am looking to shut them down and get them arrested and also looking at a possible class action suit.  They identify themselves as "Union Group"......which no such company exists, and they have multiple phone numbers.  They refuse to give any information, i.e., ADDRESS.....which is your first clue this is a scam.  I've already called LAPD and they said to file a police report. I got a second call today from a "Ryan Phillips", obviously a bogus name, and I'm pretty sure I scared him but not through having fun with these criminals.  He claims he is a "private locator."...LOL!  WTF is that????  I'm determined to get these idiots arrested, so anyone with any more info please reply.  And DON'T TALK TO THESE MORONS, just hang up.

I guess they're on a roll because they just called me as well. At first, when they couldn't get me they called my daughter's cell and left a message on her voice mail...but they didn't leave me a message on mine. Someone called again said her name was Robin Thompson and said she was a private investigator and had a claim against me. She wouldn't state the claimant or company or the amount but she wanted me to tell her where to deliver the claim papers. Then, she tried to scare me by saying my employer's name. Be careful, this may be a bogus collection agency trying to get you to pay them the money and not the rightful debtor ... that's if you actually owe money. (I'm late on a couple of bills but not to the point of collections). It's been many years since I've gotten a collection call, but, a real collection agency will tell you the exact information of the debt.

Debt Collector
This is a collection agency and they use harassing tactics when calling even if the person they are looking for is not at the number they are calling.   It will come as a 877 # or Private Caller on the ID.  Don't answer and contact the State Attorney General or the FTC.
