i worked for this company, and i quit after my second day. i am so shocked they have not been shut down yet. I became suspicious on my first day when i realized they would hire anybody, including drug addicts and ex cons. i'm a college student but not desperate, and besides that, the owner (JOE WAGNER) is a total jerk to me when i started to question if this were legal.

Telemarketer
I received a call from the "New Jersey Police Officers Foundation, Inc" on Oct. 27th asking for a donation. The caller ID showed the call came from "New Jersey 201-285-8544". I agreed to make a donation AFTER I researched their organization. After doing some research, it seems they may or may not be legit, but if only a small portion goes to an actual police foundation, I will NOT be donating! I will return their pledge form along with a pleasant note stating that do to the small ercentage that goes to the police foundation, I will donte the pledged amount to my LOCAL police department instead & asking them to remove my number from their calling list. We'll just have to wait & see if they call again.

I was almost duped by these guys. They called me to request I place a publishing in some magazine. They ar not legite. I called my town police department and was told by a cop who belongs to REAL NJFOP that they never make phone calls for contributions. They are a SCAM. Today they called upset again to bother and be on the lookout because yesterday I received a call from a supposed FIRE DEPARTMENT association as well. Called my town fire department and this is another scam. By the way they are calling PRIVATE NUMBER now.

The CID only gave me the last 7: 295-5576, I googled and came here.

Just keeping th thread/reference active!

Thanks for the nfo peeps!

Grrr, I was called at 7;45 am and 9;20 pm today.  Was called many times by these retards.  I won't ever give a penny.  The real fop should step in a close them down if they care.

They keep calling at 8:30AM.  I work nights and have told them repeatedly to stop calling so early.  But they persist.  Even if it WAS legit...no way would I donate now.

They're not only scam artists they're RUDE. They woke me up out of a sound sleep at 8:22 this morning. (I'm off from work for Veterans Day.) I have eldercare issues, so I almost answered the phone. I didn't answer once I saw who was calling. Talk about annoying.

By the way, years ago the cop who acted as the liaison to my local block association told us that the real Fraternal Order of Police NEVER solicits by phone.

NO  They are not.  They claim to be soliciting for the FOP but they only give a small percentage of what they collect to the police orgs. THEY'RE scam artist. You're better off donating to your local police directly, if you're donating

On the caller ID its NJ FOP (read fraternal order of police).  However they are really NJ POF (police officers foundation) which is a special project of the Italian American Police Society of NJ.  I was duped, don't do the same!  The donation is not tax deductible because a portion of it goes to the fundraising company not the actual organization.  The sticker they sent wasn't even in the right order of the Italian flag colors!!! Sounds like a special interest lobbying group to me.  Basically its a scam which tugs at your civic heart strings. Donate directly to the FOP in your area or local PBA only!!

The Faternal Order of Police is calling at 8:00 in the morning. They call way too much, asking for donations, and they have for about 6 years. We gave them money every year and then stopped, ever since then they have called mabey twice a month and always at the worst time. If you say no and ask them to take you out of your list, they ignored you and continue to call. Is this a case of giving then expecting to have it every year as ones civic duty or a case of harassment. They harass us and I think it should be stopped. What can we do?

If this number doesn't stop calling so early in the morning, OR stop completely, I will file a complaint as the law says calls like this cannot call before 9 a.m., isn't that correct?

*Never* give charity donations to a stranger who calls you. Might be a scammer. Might be a legit independent fund raiser who keeps 90% for themselves and sends 10% to the charity. Best to find what charity they are collecting for, research the charity to make sure it's legit, get charity contact info from an independent source, then donate *directly* to the charity so they will get 100% of your donation.

Prank Call
They call because they are going out of business and the economy is faltering because of a lack of planning since the beginning, since the forfathers. They are desperate for money because they think money is the answer when in fact its the very thing that is destroying their lives. Their in a deep sleep and yet awake from reality. They're turning on the public because of a lack of personal insight with their creator. Our Nation was never claimed as a Christain Nation and they since the beginning have rejected the Cheif Cornerstone to build upon and this is the result of turning away from Jesus.
Broad is the Way that leads to Destruction, but narrow is the gate that leads to:
Everlasting Eternal Life
and their are only very few that find IT
People don't be surprised nor let it overtake you, It is only for a momment and then the momment is gone

Non-profit Organization
After receiving the donation information by mail, I checked NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.  After searching for registered charities at NJ government website, http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/charity/chardir.htm, (using the query "NJ police officer"), I found out that 79% of the money goes to the telemarketer (Fund Raising Expense: Cost of solicitations, professional fund raisers, fundraising activities, etc.).  In addition, I also found an article in the regional newspaper about this types of donations in NJ  http://www.njspba.com/Documents/FTCletter.pdf).  Decided this is not a reasonable way to use of my money.

What's the matter "snow job", making too many fake entries on this site to keep your scam web sites straight?

THIS IS A SCAM TO STEAL YOUR MONEY. All the money goes to the telescammers, police get NOTHING. NOTHING. Scammers like snow are the only ones getting money.

They aren't even registered as a non-profit, so your so-called contribution is not tax deductible. This is a FOR PROFIT operation. NOT A CHARITY. SCAM FROM START TO FINISH.

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the New Jersey State Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there?s information on www.njfop.com, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for New Jersey police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.
