Do not send these people any money it is a scam they call your job so you will be in fear of losing your job because of the calls so you can send them money. I have been thru this for 2 years with different companies doing the same rude tactics, I did send money in fear of loosing my job but when I did that others called with the same nonsense. What I had to to stop the calls is inform your employer of what's going on even your co workers that way when they call they will know that you and your employer knows its a scam , now they might call and tie up job lines for a while but this has to be done and they might call for a few days with the same type of calls do not give in ,they will stop when they realize they will not get any money from you and they will move on to another poor soul. Don't be scared it is a over seas scam from India . All the best

Also got a call today. I received a little over 60 calls in a minute. Also, my work switch board was overwhelm will calls from this jerk (James Bulter). He had a middle eastern ascent and called me a n****r if I didn't pay his company the money that I owed. He stated three different company names when I asked who was calling and why. He was very rude and not professional at all. He stated that I owe $300 dollars but now the fee is $525.00 due to late fees. Also that I could send the funds via western union to resolve this matter but never wanted to really give me the information. I asked if his co. has a website and he stated no. I asked if he could send me a written notice in the mail regarding this info and he stated no. This is a SCAM, so don't fall prey to this guy. He stated you think you are smart. He called me from the various phone#'s: 210-249-0540, 210-280-8487 and 210-301-0307. He instructed me to call his supervisor at 857-403-1457, which is a live number and ask for his supervisor, which is actually the same guy that is calling from the above#'s. I work for a federal agency and is in the process of having someone from our IT dept. to hopefully put a end to this madness. Please if anyone receives call from this guy, don't give any info and simpy just hang up the phone.

Keep receiving calls when I would answer could not hear them very well.  I asked them to stop calling me at work and they continued to call me after I told them numerous times not to.  They then asked for my cell phone number which they already knew because they had called me earlier in the day on that number.  VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reported this jerk and just so you know to (Windstream) they said you need to file
a police report.  They also told me that they have numerous complaints about this phone number.
They are not going to do anything about them is pretty much what I got from them.  Shame on this company.
I filed a report with the FCC everyone needs to do the same.  They do not give a company name, what they want.  They are a bunch of jerks, and I'm going to keep reporting them until someone does something.  Everyone else needs to do the same.  I am not sure they are in the U.S.A, they are some kind of scammers but not the sharpest tools in the shed.

This scam operation called our state agency and essentially performed a denial of service on 3 of our extensions used for customer service calls.  The calls flooded in at such at rate we finally had to disable the extensions they targeted. We weathered the storm and the calls have ceased after 12 hours or so.  One extension had over 220 voicemails left by these scammers.

This call is a SCAM.  Do NOT be bullied by this operation.  Simply tell them several times "I know this is a scam and you will not get anything from me."  After that, just do not answer the calls.  They'll persist for hours, and will threaten you with all sorts of legal action, and use foul language, but it is simply their attempt to bully you and extort money from you.  DO NOT BE THEIR VICTIM - do not listen to them and by all means, do NOT pay them anything.  The only reason these people continue with this behavior is they successfully convince some victims to give them money. Don't give them money.  You don't owe them any money.

Jackie, see my post above and report these calls every time they call. In fact, you and your employer should be reporting these.  And your employer should see about getting this number blocked by their phone service provider..

I answered once and told him I'd reported him to the FTC but he keeps calling
I work at night and he's calling during my sleep hours.  Sounds like the same voice from about a month ago with the same issue....flooding the lines at the hospital where I work.

A man with broken English called our home phone multiple times from this number. I answered, he asked for a John Dyser or something like that. I told him he had the wrong number and that I didn't know that person. I then hung up. He called back repeatedly until my husband answered and told him to stop calling. He then accused my husband of being john, and kept telling him he was a liar etc. We ended up hanging up the phone and disconnecting it, as this jerk had no regard for the fact that I had a sleeping baby. Report him please if you get a call!!

This number 857-403-1457 calls at least 10 times a day on my office line and I always put them into VM.  They never leave a message.  Today I decided to answer.  It sounded like a call center and a man with broken English was asking to talk to a co-worker who is based in another state.  I told him that I would take his information and have her call him.  He was very angry that I wouldn't transfer the call and I kept telling him I couldn't.  His name was Johnny Hunter from a legal investigation team and my co-worker's SSN was being compromised.  (yeah right!)  What a jerk!

Section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires 3rd-party debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt (the key word is *shall*) :
"§ 809. Validation of debts
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing?
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer?s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."

A Collection Agent May Not?

Here are the top 11 actions prohibited by the The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act:

Misrepresent Him or Herself

  A debt collector may not misrepresent himself as an attorney or law enforcement officer.

Use the Telephone to Annoy or Harass

  A collection agent may not cause a telephone to ring or engage any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with an intent to annoy, abuse, or harass anyone at the called number.

Threaten Arrest or Lawsuit

  A collection agent may not threaten a consumer with arrest. It may not threaten legal action that is either not permitted or not actually contemplated. In other words, a the threat of a lawsuit may be an empty one.

Use Abusive or Threatening Language

  A debt collector may no use abusive or profane language in the course of communication related to the debt.

Publish a Bad Debt List

  Publishing the consumer?s name or address on a "bad debt" list is prohibited.

Contact By Embarrassing Media

  A debt collector may not communicate with a consumer by post card. It may not use any language or symbol, other than the debt collector?s address, on any envelope when communicating with a consumer by use of the mails or by telegram. A debt collector may use its business name if such name does not indicate it is in the debt collection business.

Contact a Consumer at Work

  A collection agent may not communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.

Seek Unjustifiable Amounts

  A debt collector may not demand any amounts not permitted under an applicable contract or as provided under law.

Contact a Consumer Represented by an Attorney

  A collection agent may not contact a consumer after it learns the consumer is represented by a lawyer.

Communicate With a Consumer After Receiving a Validation Request

  If a consumer sends a written §1692g response within 30 days, the collection agent may not communicate with the consumer until it mails the consumer the requested verification of original creditor's name and address.

Communicate With Third Parties

  A debt collector may not reveal or discuss the nature of a consumer?s debts with third parties other than the consumer?s spouse or attorney. A collection agent may contact neighbors or co-workers only to obtain location information. It may contact a third party again if it has reason to believe the information the party provided previously is false.

Bills.com FDCPA FAQ

Below are questions Bills.com readers ask frequently:

Can a Collection Agent Call My Cell Phone?

  Yes. However, if you tell the debt collector it may not use that number because it is a cell phone, it may not contact you again at that number.

I Keep Receiving Dozens of Calls From Collection Agents. Is That Legal?

  No. Unscrupulous collection agents will use "block parties" or "office parties" where they contact a consumer, multiple neighbors, or co-workers telling them they need to reach the consumer on an urgent matter. This is not permitted under the FDCPA.

A Collector Says I Will Be Arrested if I Do Not Pay

  This was a true statement before the US Civil War, but has not been true since. People may be arrested if an aggressive judge files a bench warrant for a person who does not appear at a hearing relating to a lawsuit regarding a debt. However, in that case, the offense is the failure to respond to a court order, and not the existence of the debt. As stated above, it is illegal under the FDCPA to threaten a consumer with arrest if the consumer does not pay the debt.

This individual called looking for a Wade Day. No matter how many times I informed the individual that Wade Day did not have my number he insisted that I was lieing. He called me about 30 tines today and each time I would tell him that he had the wrong number, he even went as far as to tell me that I needed to change my voice mail. I went  to the police station about the harassing calls. When the Officer or my husband would answer the phone he would hang up, but he would talk to me. He tried to say that I was committing fraud against his company and that I owe millions of dollars and that he was trying to get it taken care of. The Officer even tried to call this number back and the individual hung up on him.

Got call just now, got similar calls in the past.  Just another number to add to the blocked list.  report stuff like this to the Secret Service.   they deal with that sort of thing... well actually they probably won't because I'd be these calls originate from some country that has no agreement with the US where we can come in and arrest these idiots.

"Andrew Johnson" called from this number left me a message in broken english saying that I must call urgently or face jail time, lol.  Apparantly this is related to the payday loan scam in India.  They have hacked into servers and stolen peoples info mine included and are trying to extort money out of people.  Please beware and do not sent this scum anything.  Don't even engage in coversation with them if at all possible.  Does anyone out there know how to stop this? They call my work constantly from different numbers.  One of them blew up my works switchboard with about 300 calls in an hour.  I am tired of being harrassed by these idiots.  I have contacted my attorney general, the FCC, and the FBI and no one seems to offer any help.  So please let me know if you have any ideas on how to stop this.

(857-403-1457). He said that a former employee had lodged a complaint of fraud against my business. And that he owed them money and in turn that we were responsible as well. They had a lot of general info about him but something was fishy. First all  government agencies will contact you by mail first. And since all my employees are subcontractors and therefore 1099's I knew this was bull#*&%.I kept asking questions until he very quickly ended the call. BEWARE!!!!
