They have called 3 separate times using e different first names (none are mine) but using my last name. I returned their phone call because the recording said that it was a debt collection agency. They said that they would erase the number but just keep calling. They say that they are Alliance One (?).

These people have been calling me more than once a day for several weeks. It is a recorded message, so I am unable to talk to them. The person they want to collect money from has my last name. I am getting extremely angry about this.

We're getting the same thing CONSTANTLY for 'Luis Gonzales' from the same number, and others from a place called Alliance One (A debt collection agency)... been getting calls for him and 'Margarita' since we've had this phone registered, for the past two years.  Our answering machine blatantly says we're on the DO NOT CALL list, so who ever it is, they can't take a hint that we are neither Luis and/or Margarita, or that they are breaking the DO NOT CALL law.

It just repeated my name three times in computer voice and hung up.  I think this is a collection agency of some sort...but I pay my bills!!!  Hope it's not ID theft...

try this...Added them to our Do Not Call list (we're on the national register; doesn't seem to stop these people!), reported them, added our name to THEIR do not call list (I'll link it here) and am calling them to tell them to stop calling.  We'll see what happens.  Been getting calls for these two people for the past 2-3 years. This same thing has been happening to me, if this company has money Im sure some lawyer will try filing a class action... I just started law school last week so, when I learn enough about it ( in 3 yrs) Ill be on them like white on rice :)

THIS IS ALLIANCE ONE IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA.  THEY ARE INDEED A DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY AND USUALLY DEAL WITH COLLECTING DEBTS OWED TO GOVERNMENT ENTITIES SUCH AS, UNPAID TRAFFIC FINES, DUE TO COUNTY COURTS, WELFARE OVERPAYMENTS, DUE TO COUNTY WELFARE AGENCIES, ETC.  THEY ARE ABLE TO ATTACH TAX REFUNDS IN A VERY SHORT TIME PERIOD AS WELL. (IF THE DEBT IS OWED TO A GOV'T AGENCY.  I ONCE DID COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS IN LIEU OF PAYING A FINE FOR A VEHICLE REG. VIOLATION.  I SUBMITTED ALL OF MY PROOF TO THE COURTS ETC. AND THE VIOLATION WAS CLEARED.  HOWEVER, ALLIANCE ONE GOT THE INFO ON THE FINE DUE $375.00.  EVEN THOUGH THE COMM. SERV. HOURS PAID THE FINE OFF, AND NO ACTUAL MONIES WERE DUE BY ME IN THE END.  WHEN I FILED MY TAXES 2 MONTHS LATER, I RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM THE STATE OF CALIF. THAT MY RETURN WAS ATTACHED BY ALLIANCE ONE FOR UNPAID COURT FEES.  ALLIANCE ONE WOULD NOT RESCIND THE ACTION UNTIL I PHYSICALLY WENT BACK TO COURT, SHOWED ALL OF MY PROOF AGAIN TO THE CLERK AT THE COUNTER, (GOOD THING I KEPT COPIES OF ALL OF MY HOURS AND THE FINAL COURT DECISION ETC. BECAUSE THE CLERK COULDN'T ACCESS THOSE RECORDS).  THE COURT CLERK WAS NICE ENOUGH TO COMPLETE A FORM FOR ALLIANCE ONE TO RESCIND THE ATTACHMENT, ETC. AT WHICH TIME THEY RETURNED THE REFUND TO THE STATE OF CALIF. TAX BOARD, WHO THEN MAILED IT TO ME.  ABOUT A YEAR LATER. GOOD LUCK!!

Constant repeated calls

I received a strange blocked call today from someone who claimed she has been trying to reach my next door neighbor without success, but apparently managed to find people in our building to call.  I played dumb about the name, but she said he lived in the apartment next to me, so I said yeah, I know a guy named Joe next door.  She said her name is Karen, she is in San Diego, and said she "had to relocate because of the wildfires."  She claimed my neighbor would know who she was.  She gave me this number to call back, which I promptly ran on Google, which brought me here.  Based on the comments, I am not going to bother my neighbor with this nonsense.

I have had the same problem as all above. I have called them back a few times and told them to remove my number from the list. The names have usually been the same that were asked for, but sometimes I get different names. Hopefully, I won't get their call again, as its bordering on harrassment. If I do, perhaps the FTC or any other gov't agencies might want to know about their poor business practices.

I've gotten two calls from this number. I think I'm getting them because of a tax debt of a few hundred dollars from several years ago. I have a letter stating the matter has been resolved. Anyway, I used *60 to block the number. Hopefully I won't here from them anymore.

They ask for a man whose first name starts with the same letter as mine, and the same last name. This person is not even a member of my family. The only caller ID is the phone number. I went through the same nonsense as the other posters, if I stay on the line, the call drops after I wait through the music! They call at least 3 times a day and then they aren't even willing to answer. I am on the federal do not call list. Shouldn't this be illegal?

Received call on my mother's answering machine.  At this time she had been deceased for six months and her house was empty and for sale.  Could hardly understand the message so listened to it a few times.  They did not pronouce her first name correctly, but used a variation of it.  I finally made out the words, "Vivian Moore debt collection."  I was concerned that someone had used mother's name in a credit transaction, as she would never not pay a debt, nor was she able to incur debt during her latter years as she had dementia and I handled all her financial transactions.  The call was upsetting and bizarre, to say the least.

TO ALL:
I have been getting these calls for someone whom I do not know.  But yesterday, I didn't get the woman's voice telling me to call Vivian Moore back at 858-300-7516..  I got a guy telling me to call Vivian at that number, OR toll free at 877-541-8420.  I called, got an automated system, pressed 2, and reached want sounded like the guy from the message.  I asked to speak to Vivian, he said, so you got a recording or letter.  I told him recording, he asked for the number where the call was being received, asked if I knew the person they were looking for, and then told me he would remove my number from his system.

Computer generated call, butchered pronunciation of my name, pressed the key to be connected to someone, but after waiting, the call dropped. I blocked them after reading all the other experiencdes on here.

Recorded message slaughters my name as well, or so I thought. I have gotten a live person a couple of times when I call the number and thought that I erased my number from the list, but apparently not. i found this website with tips on stopping different types of harassing calls.  you may be able to block calls by pressing *60 and then entering the number if this service is available in your area.  hope this helps.

this is allinance one. same stuff, i wait to talk to someone to let them know they have the wrong number and to stop calling and it plays music and then switches to a busy signal and hangs up.  vivian moore is fictious...if you call and ask for her it lets them know that you recieved a call regarding debt collection.  we gets calls for various people with my husbands first initial our last name...so say you are listed as j. smith in the phonebook, you may get calls for anyone they are looking for that has your first initial with the same last name...so james smith, jay smith, joyce smith,joe smith, etc. i guess they figure they will just try it out and see if they get the right person.  i am so freakin pissed because THEY CALL DURING MY BABY'S NAPTIME and we don't owe anything that we are not current with!  i called to ask why they keep calling and the girl i talked to looked up our number on their database and found TEN different names listed with our number. she was also the one who told me that the vivian moore name is just a way of finding out if they've called you.  she said she was sorry and that they would remove our number but today there was another call for someone we don't know!?! aaaagggghhhh!

They call and ask for my husband and ask us to call about a traffic violation.They also say they're a collection agency.

I get this same call and I was worried because they say they are a debt collection agency so I checked all my credit reports because I knew that I didn't have any bad debt and thought maybe my identity had been stolen.  However, everything checked out and when I did try to click 9 to talk to "Vivian Moore", the phone disconnected.  AGH!!!!  Leave me alone.

I have been receiving these calls at my work. It is extremely annoying as I work in a call center!!
