Received a call from this number a short time ago,which I did not recognize or answer......no message!  Caller I D shows EDF ORG??

They call constantly, leave no message, and call late at and early in the morning.  I even pick up the phone and hang it right up, but they still keep calling.  

How is the EDF an organized crime?
I can understand not want to donate to the United Way where the upper level executives earn six figures while they just redistributing the money to smaller charities.  But that is not a crime.
I can understand not donating to the Humane Society of the United States, they do not have any animal shelters of their own and spend a large percentage of their money trying to get more donations.  But that is also not a crime.
Be careful with your words, real organized crime might take offense.

If you don't answer they will call back.  If you do answer and say no, they will call back.  If you answer and say no thank you and please take my name off your calling list, they should honor the request.

EDF is probably using a paid solicitation company.  The computer dials numbers, if someone picks up the call then the call gets transferred to an available agent.  If there is no available agent your call is in limbo until an agent is available.  If too many people pick up then the computer starts dropping the calls so it can dial more numbers.
Like everything, the quest to be more cost effective has led to worse customer service.

STOP HARRASSING PHONE CALLS

Getting very tired of these bozos calling and not leaving a message.  Caller ID states: EDF ORG which I googled and it turns out it's the Environmental Defense Fund Organization.

Damn Environmental Defense Fund again. They call using many different numbers, a different one every evening. So tired of it. They never leave a message and I don't answer unknown calls. Never will give a penny to these losers

I am tired of these calls.  Day and night for months they keep calling.

No voice mail left - I am getting way to many of these type calls these days. I am on the DNC list to no avail. Government is very broken. The NSA/FBI/CIA needs to track down these law breakers and shove  pins in thier digitus minimus manusat through and into the hyponychium and up thier hypothenar eminence.

I have received 21 calls in the past 3 weeks from 3 different numbers, all indicating caller as EDEFENSEFUND, EDF ORG, and ENVIRODEFENSE. It is seriously annoying. I blocked the numbers using my phone's block call list, but the call rings once before phone drops the call. I hate that I have to listen to phone ring once, because their calls are so persistent.

These folks call almost daily, using several different numbers. Sheesh. It's been months - they need to give up already. I will never speak to them, never give them a freaking penny. I doubt any of us will.

Anyone whi says they called this number back is a b***s***ter. Dial the number and get a message "this number cannot be reached by this method"

They have called at least twice this month.  I answer and say sternly quit calling me - then I hear a click.  Sure wish they would get a clue and quit calling me.

Caller ID says San Diego CA and they called at 8:37 last evening 4-4-14.  I did not answer and they did not leave a message.
I will not donate to anything over the phone - don't they know most people won't?  Get all of this type of phone call to stop!

I answered, and the guy on the phone did say he was with the EDF seeking donations.  He gave me a long spiel and wanted $75 or $50.  When I said no, he wanted $40 or $30.  He gave up after second no.

Called at 9:35 on 4/2/14, no message - we are getting TONS of these scam calls at least 10 a day now, where is the FCC on this?  Like they are on the longest vacation ever...

If it was really the EDF, why wouldn't they relpy when people answer or why would they just hang up when people answer? I think that is the point. Yes , the REAL EDF does great things, but if they are soliciting donations why not ask when people answer their phone. Then we have the option of saying yes or no. We would have the option of saying take me off your list. A reputable business would do this. It is annoying to have this number call all the time to have no one be on the line . I refuse to answer this number, yet it is annoying to have the phone ringing at all hours by this number. I did report it to our attorney generals office. They could not find who truly is calling from this number because the number was pinged from other locations not the San Diego area. They are continuing to try to  find out who is behind this. They advised me just to not answer and block this number.

I just received a call from this phone number.  I probably gave money to them at one point and now they're hounding me at home. I answered the phone and before they had a chance to say anything, I said quit calling us and promptly hung up.  They've called several times in the last couple weeks.  However, when I looked up Environmental Defense Fund, this phone number doesn't match any of their office numbers.

If you sign ANY kind of petition on line they get your phone number and address.
I got a call from not just these people but others asking me to join pickets in my area. I asked..where in the petition did I give my permission for them to look me up and call me at home? No response. I told them not to call me again. So..next time..pick up the phone, DO NOT give them a chance to say a word, don't even say hello. When I pick up the phone I immediately say..I know who you are. I know what you want. I'm not interested. Don't call me again. And immediately hang up. DO NOT give them a foot in the door. DO NOT give them the first word. Just because I signed the petition does not give you the right to call me;especially when I did not give you my number or permission.

Got a call this morning while grocery shopping. The same happened with me -- I said, "this is she," which was answered with dead air. I muttered, "I have no time for this," hung up and continued shopping.

"sissylou" - EDF is not a non-profit organized criminal organization.  What a shame that the work they do to protect the environment benefits ignorant people such as you, as well as people concerned about the environment.

Got a call this morning at 9AM and was asked for by name. Guy would not provide his name and babbled about health insurance. Another scammer. After reading the other responses I believe they changed their name but it is still the same old thieves.
