Hung up after two rings...make this stop!!!!

Caller said they were contacting me regarding medical compensation for a surgery I had never had.  Hung up and they called back!!  Number blocked on id -- got it through my mobile carrier.

I have gotten several calls from the 858 area code. I do not know anyone in California that would be calling me. I do not answer these calls. If a missed call is important, I believe the caller would leave a message.

Just two rings and it stopped.  Didn't answer.  

Called again and hung up

We just got a call  from this number. Glad to find out it's just another scam operation. Number is now blocked to prevent further harrassment.

I did get a person, saying that he was offering free home improvement estimates. He said that he was a member of the NG club? Hung up.

I get calls from all sorts of "phishing or scammer numbers".  Especially from them damn solar power on your home, geez.

My phone can only block 20 #s so it's full.

So now my answering machine goes " Hello...hello...I can't hear you...cause I never answer callers I don't know. If legit leave a msg, if not hang up". No one leaves a msg.

Got a call from this number.  The phone only rang once and the caller did not leave a message.  I do not know anyone in San Diego.

I have a huge "block" list now thanks to this site. I never answer out of state calls without checking here first, but this one being local 858 area code, I did.. block list = block list + 1.

I, like the rest of you, receive these calls all the time.   Our government is WORTHLESS, especially when it comes to blocking these calls.  

Your only other course of action is this:  

Do NOT, under any circumstances, answer a caller you do not recognize.  When you do, all you are doing is confirming for them is that they have reached a viable, working number and then they WILL call you back PLUS they will sell your number to other scam artists so they can call you too.   If they continue to call then first, check with your phone service and see if they have a call blocker service (mine does).   If I continue to receive calls from a certain number then it goes onto my "Blocked" list.  

Also, just pressing 1 or any number they say to remove you from their list is also a scam.   It doesn't work either.   Also, I turn off my answering machine when I am home.  If it answers them, then once again it only confirms the fact that they have indeed reached a "Working" number and they WILL continue to call you.   Have a pleasant day.  Sure am glad too for websites like this.    

Thought for the day:  I Wonder what would happen if everyone stopped answering these calls.   IF they got no more answers then would they just give up and die ?

I will add that by using these tactics, there are days now when I have NO MORE phone calls from scammers!   Only had one in the last three days now.    Please folks, don't answer these phone calls.  Use your caller ID's.  

It is time for citizens to to demand the gov stop telemarketing scams.Impose heavy fines and throw theminjail

Called ID: CA, USA. Called my cell phone at 8:05 am on 6-30-2014. Went to voicemail. No message left.

Just got a call and I asked to be taken off the list the "boy" on the phone said " and what are you gonna do about it if I don't". I said nothing and then he further insulted me by guessing things about my looks and age.  There is a special place in Hell for these people

Got a call for the first time today.  CID said:  San Diego, CA and the number.  What was unusual was that they let the phone ring at least 20 times.  Had to turn off my answering machine.  Nothing I can do except block the number.

Just got a call from this number.  Caller ID said:  San Diego, CA and the phone number.  What surprised me was the length of time they let it ring....at least 20 rings.  I turned off the answering machine at about 10 rings.  I'm on the Federal Do Not Call list.  I never answer calls whose names or numbers I do not recognize.

Got a call from this number, didn't recognize the area code, didn't answer it.  

There was no message left.  They have called twice and never left a message. Sounds a little fishy to me.

Received a call from this number today and they hung-up when I answered. Just blocked this number from calling me again.  Apparently, the Do Not Call List does not work, because this is the 15th number I have blocked.

I received a call from this number on 05/06/14 in the morning that read it was from California. I pick up and nobody said anything, I look at my phone and see they had hung up. Judging by these other reports I assume that this is a scam.

Got a call from this number. After I answered, someone from the other end hang up!!! Its annoying! I called it back, line is busy.

Use nomorobo. It will block after the first ring then never let them call again. You can also report to the FTC (though a waste of time) and also use call blocking and forwarding features of your phone provider. Fight back!

Just the latest number that calls me.. I get called from at least 4 or 5 different numbers every day.  Some numbers have been calling me daily for months, sometimes multiple times a day.

I continue to answer my phone due to personal reasons.. and my heart beats fast every time the phone rings, so this is not good for me!

Even though I have a Panasonic phone that blocks numbers, I have a new strategy. Been getting lots of telemarketers calling lately. So I set my answer machine to pick up on ring 2. Then all robot calls automatically cut off at just 2 rings. They cannot handle an answering machine so they hang up. No messages are left. Anyone who wants me, just starts leaving a message at ring 2 and I pick up and the answering machine stops while I continue to talk. Then I block the number with my phone. The hard part is getting over the need to answer each right away.

Just another spoofing call. The first call is a hang up after you answer.  This tells the telemarketer that your number is a live one. The second call usually has a pleasant speaking person trying to be your friend and get information from you. Please do not fall for this scam. Legitimate charities or contests do not operate this way. If it seems to good to be true it is.

St. Jude does not call.
Bear in mind these people are scammers, they will tell you anything to get your info.
Don't answer, don't call back, don't press 1 to be taken off list,   Lets them know you are a working #

It's not legitimate,  they are scamming you.
