I got the same thing, rang once and hung up

I received a call from them on my cell phone at 9:00am on Sunday morning.  I picked it up because I was mad that someone was that rude to call early in the morning and on Sunday and the call disconnected.  The caller ID came up as CA, USA.

Like the rest of you, just got a call on my mobile phone.  Rang once, that's all. I did not call them back to see who it was.  Probably a scammer, so I'm not opening myself up to them.  I'm in Texas and on the DNC list.

The phone rang once and hung up so I called athem back and the number was busy!

Just recieved a call from this number. I declined the call. They didn't leave a voicemail.

I wonder if they become  amused when they drink too much, make a rash of phone calls, then reference this site for a good laugh? I will leave this last note and never pick up a call from an unfamiliar area code again. I am on all do not call lists and on file with the PUC. Can't imagine why someone would waste valuable time calling random numbers?

I just got a call myself from 858-429-4071.  It rang once and the hung up.  What the heck?  Obviously this happening to a lot of people.  I'm blocking this!

I received a call (did not answer it!) from 8584294071 to my mobile pay-as-you-go.
I've never had any contact or relationship with heycosmo, either direct or indirect.

It is illegal to call cell phones for unsolicited advertising, surveys, etc.

You can go to the web pages to block calls to a number, as described above by onceagain, and that is all very well.

But there is a check to make sure that you are the subscriber to that number.  That's understandable.  However, if my cell phone (and probably yours) receives a call, you will incur a charge.

I'm sorry if I am missing something, but why should I have to pay to have my number blocked from being called by some person or organization that I neither know nor have any dealings with?

An unsolicited call is an unsolicited call.  It is illegal.   Unless we report such calls to the proper authorities, and the culprits are penalized, this kind of thing will continue.
Citizens should not have to pay anything for this.

These calls are from scammers in Ghana, Africa.  Make sure they don't have your email address or are not in some chat room somewhere.  Be sure you know whomever you're chatting with.

It just happened to me as well on my cell phone which is not a listed number anywhere.  I called the number back and it said something like "Thank you for calling Hate (?) Cosmo, please hold while your record is retreived." Ten it hung up.

Just got a call from them.  I didn't answer.  No voice message left.

It called my google voice number. I found out five weeks later. I never check that thing for actual calls. Googled the number. Found this thread.

Got a call from 8584294071 on my mobile phone, just like the others here and it cost me minutes on my mobile plan.

The second call next day, I didn't answer it.  Checked here and tried to stop the calls at the website but as somebody said the company will not stop them unless you verify the phone number.  That will cost me minutes so I am not going to do it.  I don't know if it is legal for them to verify the numbers like that.  They should just accept the information especially as  I have never had anything to do with them at all, ever.

I recommend that you don't bother with the donotcall list if they call you on a mobile.  it is ILLEGAL for them to call mobile phone numbers anyway unless you give them EXPLICIT permission.  It is not the same as ordinary land line telephones.

So I am going to report it to the FCC and if the company is fined that is great.  That's the best I can hope for and seeing them taken out of business will be a compensation for wasting my plan minutes and my time.

IF EVERYBODY DOES THIS FOR CALLS TO THEIR MOBILE PHONES WE CAN STOP THESE NUISANCES INVADING OUR PRIVACY.

Number (18584294071) also called my yesterday (May 25, 2010) on my phone. Just once and hung up before I could pick up or voicemail kicks in. Maybe they really do it so people call back to hear an ad or so. Obviously I don't call back numbers I do not know. Since it is a Skype number I just blocked the call from now on. They should be stopped! Wasting people's resources for their shady things...

I have " do not call"  list,  it is worthless if people like this can call.  Got a call today from 858 429 4071,   I never answer, it is annoying.

I never answer numbers that don't look familiar to me...and this one ticks me off because I have major sleep problems and don't appreciate getting a bogus phone call to wake me up!
