Got a call to my unpublished cell phone from this number. When I answered I heard the beginning of a recording proclaiming I had just won to cruise tickets. I hung up immediately and blocked the number. 858 area code is san diego, but there are lots of ways to get a number in a specific area code without actually being there.

anwered call and nothing on the other end of the line, then it clicked off.  I called the number back and got a busy signal.

I got the call on my cell phone several times.  Is there a way to block these calls?

Those fooled by the free cruise scammers will be left waiting at the dock, for a ship that never comes, while the scammers sail away with their credit card information!

The DNC registration no longer expires.
Suggest you return to the DNC site, and actually read what is there.

The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities and companies with preexisting business relationships, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list  is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

858-524-4822 called this morning and after 4 rings hung up. I too am getting more and more unwanted calls after registering again on the DNC.after my previous registration expired.  I think all these phone scammers use the DNC as their phone book for who to call LOL

Yes, search results changing subject, try San Diego (858) / bluegreen vacations / bass pro / travel agency but look at job listings. Yes, hard to tell difference between scamming professionals and professional scammers.

I did, but I apparently don't have the access to certain facts that others seem to have.  I can't find the connection between this telephone number on the one hand and the time-sharing/vacation company on the other -- at least not yet.  That, for me, is a missing link that might be closed if someone who has found this link could post a web page or a business registration that would provide such a link.  That doesn't mean that the connection isn't there.  It just means I haven't found it yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if the link exists, but there's just not enough proof at this time for me to say that it does.

I received a call from 858-524-4822 after registering on the "do not call list."  I am getting more and more unwanted calls.  

I received a call from this number at 6:30am California time. weird.

I too received a call from this # on my cell phone. My family is in Cali and can call from various area codes. This was a new one so of course I answered it only for it to be dead air. Before I started  to panic, (maybe someone was hurt, hospilized etc.) I came here and was relieved to know it's just another scammer.

Nice post with information about a company and your own personal experience with them. Their BBB report shows less than professional business behavior bordering on fraudulent business tactics as viewed through complaints made. Especially disturbing is the companies response to complaints made from consumers through their BBB. Downplaying their predatory and abusive business sales tactics that include telemarketing. Having 56 locations then add all the unknowns (3rd party, more than 4500 associates) doing business through this company adds to their deceptive sales tactics. Viewing their BBB report alone should raise RED FLAGS of BUYER BEWARE! Part of Woodbridge Holdings, LLC, and an indirect subsidiary of BFC Financial Corporation. Call rcd fr 8585244822 @ ~11:00 AM Pacific on my cell. Was in a meeting, so did not take the call. No Message was left. Got busy signal on repeated attempts to call back.

So, I also just received a call from this number with no voicemail and a busy signal upon return call.

The only two things I have to note here. I recently purchased a travel deal through a Timeshare agency that was advertising at Bass Pro Shops over the weekend.

I NEVER receive calls from numbers I don't recognize, and this is teh most recent transaction (clue) I can recall to explain this atypical occurence. Hope that information helps, did anyone else purchase a similar deal? I believe the company is called BlueGreen Vacations, but I could be wrong.

Boy some heated comments about this number. I don't want to cause any problem with anyone but just want to post that I just received a call (beeped in while I on phone at 1:19pm). Number showing on my caller ID was 1-858-524-4822, California Call. I didn't answer. I don't know anyone in California if that is in fact where the call originated. I have no idea. I just don't answer calls that I don't recognize the number let it go to answering machine if not on the phone like I was when received this call.

The number also called me multiple times so far, when I pick up, no one replies. this is the 7th time they've called in the last two weeks.

I receive DAILY calls from this number! I answer and no one answers back.....Yes I call these "UNWANTED CALLS"  and yes I AM COMPLAINING.  Call it phone rage or whatever catch phrase is popular, but I do not want these calls.

This number calls my phone at least 4 times a week how do I get rid of this company calling me over and over. They always ask for some french guy and then when I tried to call it back the number doesn't work!

This number just called me too . No message . No idea who it is . I have had an unknown number calling me the past few days and now this number came up .

There now appears to be enough information to report this number to the FCC.  It may be too early to assert these grounds yet, but this observer suggests that you might want to mention the following:

"47 CFR §64.1200   Delivery restrictions.
"(a) No person or entity may:
...
"(6) Disconnect an unanswered telemarketing call prior to at least 15 seconds or four (4) rings.
"(7) Abandon more than three percent of all telemarketing calls that are answered live by a person, as measured over a 30-day period for a single calling campaign. If a single calling campaign exceeds a 30-day period, the abandonment rate shall be calculated separately for each successive 30-day period or portion thereof that such calling campaign continues. A call is 'abandoned' if it is not connected to a live sales representative within two (2) seconds of the called person's completed greeting."
