Got a knock on my door today. I did not open my door because there was a man who looked like a gang banger outside it. When I didn't answer, he left a flier on my door. It read:

For You a Beautiful Basket of Fruit
Sorry We Missed You

You may call for your fruit Monday thru Saturday Ref:45759

Do not call this. It is a scam. The man on the other side of my door had nothing with him, yet he was supposed to be delivering a "Basket of Fruit".  Also, the phone number is for a business in San Diego, but the flier was placed in North San Diego County. Too far for a fruit basket delivery. SCAM!!!

Consumer complaints allege this company leaves a flyer on their door that indicates they missed a delivery of a fruit basket, and to call for more information.  When consumers call they find out this is actually a solicitation for business and in order to receive the fruit basket they must first allow the company to give them an in-home demonstration of their product.  Nowhere on the flyer does it state that this is a solicitation for business.  The BBB informed the company of this issue and requested that the company change their advertising.  The company failed to do so.  Additionally, some consumers allege that after scheduling the in-home demonstration they did not receive the fruit basket as promised.

THIS CALLER (BEST COMPANY IT READ ON MY CALLER ID) RANG 5 TIMES AND HUNG UP. MY PHONE NUMBER IS A NEW UNLISTED ONE-ONLY HAD IT 2 WEEKS.

I returned the call to this # that was on my cell phone.  The man who answered said he did not call me.
???  I returned the call within a minute of receiving this call.

Caller said they were offering free carpet cleaning in my area to advertise their new product. I said no and took down the name and phone number of the company to look them up later. Not pleased with what I found online.

Googled <Best Company, 858-565-2827> after finding nothing on this site or others similar.  Came up with one result including Best Company Promotions at 858-565-1451 on 800notes (a fruit basket/note at a door ...  See July 23 2008 post for details).  Current records show that phone is - NANPA: Assigned Sndg Lvta, California (Pacific Bell).
