I've worked for this company from the Florence site. This is not a Scam number.
I was in the Collections department so let me explain.
1. It is in Kentucky, Not India. Citi believes in Diversity so you may speak to people whom have an accent.
2. The collections department does not leave messages before a certain time.
3. They are able to call you on every # they have listed on an acct up to 6 (if I remember correctly) times a day .
4. When you pick up and noone answers , its they're automated dialer. Yes , its an inconvenice and they were working on it when I left.
5. If you would like all calls to stop, you can ask for the correspondents fax # or address (which is in Sioux Falls)

Helpful hints
*If you tell them they have the wrong number , they may ask you to verify the last 4 digits of the number, once you do, the number will be removed , it may take up to 48 hrs.
* If you do have an acct, but are nervous about it being a Scam , after you have verified your name , ask the rrep to go over some of your recent charges to ensure they match up.

Please keep in mind A lot of these people get screamed at on the daily bases or get told heart breaking stories and they're just doing they're job to feed their families.

if you people would just watch your credit lines and/or pay your bills you wouldn't get this type of call ... avoid it all together!!

I had two calls from this number over this weekend. Has anybody answered and actually talked what they want? I would like to hear that.

It's not about a debt being owed... It's about Citi Bank calling & not leaving a message. Why call & not leave a message, even if the message is, " Hello this is citibank we are attempting to collect a debt. Please call us back as soon as possible."
Is this a little to rational or asking too much because someone owes you money. Quite the opposit.
Did you know CITI is one of the only Banks that doesn't offer email reminder for 10 day advance notice, but you know what they do offer via email reminders.... that your payment is now late!? Again if you are going to bother at all via email why not send me a email notice that in 10 days you will be late. I'm sure quite a few people will say YOU SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU DEBT & PAY YOUR BILLS ON TIME!!! I get it Don't You!

If you are bothering to make the call, LEAVE A MESSAGE wether it be a debt collector, friend or whom ever!
Citi Bank is a hugh BANK/INVESTMENT FIRM etc. & you are using a computer or person to initiate the call, why not leave a message? SIMPLE & EASY other wise I personally consider it an invasion, prank, wierdo....

Received 5 calls from them today .  Called them back and I asked what company this was and they said Citi Group. I said if they were legit they would leave a phone message.  When  called a robot call asked me to enter my cc or SSN.  Yeah RIght!!!!!  I said if they didn't stop calling I was going to report to the BBB.  Never , ever give your card/ SSN to an incoming call.  Really ticked me off.  Calling Citi to complain.  Even if it is legit, it is a BS way to call a customer!

to save your dumbass from embarrassment!  First of all, you're ocl (over the credit limit). Your card will be declined whereever you try and use it, so they're just trying to save you from that embarrassment of DECLINE. So they called you to let you know? What's so wrong about that.. Get a life, rather than complaining about people letting you borrow money.

Number one, it's an outbound number, which means you can't call it back.
Number two, when they ask for the person and they aren't there, they usually won't leave a message and just call back at a more convenient time.

They could simply just have the wrong number...

It's an OUTBOUND numberrrr!!!!! Which means, you can't call it back. They are on an automated dialer.

It's not harrassment and contacting your police department is going to do no good. What are you going to tell them? "Well, I owe this bank money, but they keep calling..." The reason they keep calling is because you owe them money. The sooner you freaking pay the sooner they will stop calling.  It's common sense. You weren't complaining when you were spending the borrowed money they loaned to you, were you? Come on now people, stop making excuses and just pay your credit cards.  If you actually answer the phone, they can help figure out ways to help you pay if you are having a financial hardship.  Who isn't these days?  Doesn't mean they're just going to let you get off without paying a dime back. You people are morons. "I'm contacting the police department.." Good luck with that. They're gonna laugh in your face.  Don't borrow money if you can't pay it back. Simple as that.

It's citibank calling, duh! You're late on payments. You didn't actually think you would get a call from a local part of town?! And the number you all are getting called back from is an OUTBOUND number, therefore when you call it back, it doesn't work. Answer your phone and see what they want.  They will work with you if you need assistance.

I get calls from this number, answer it and nobody is on the other end

these b***hes call on sunday too several times a day. luckily i have a feature on my cell phone to block any number i want. now i've blocked it and they can't reach my number ever again.

I don't have a citi card yet I have received two phone calls from these people today. I called back and got a fax machine sound.

859 is the florence kentucky area code and its not a scam its citi banks own in-house credit card collection agency, if they are calling its because you are a fxcking deadbeat who hasnt paid you god dxmned credit card, i know i used to work there, yes their system is stupid as hell because they dont leave messages but thats so that they can call again the same day, they are following the fdcpa, look it up, just answer the phone and keep saying hello until someone says something back then pay your bills like you are supposed to.

go to your local police department and file a complaint for this number

have been getting 5 to 10 calls every day since january 2 as late as 11 p.m. and when i answer no one there or they can't speak english.

I've been getting several calls from this # & no messages. I return the call & no tone or nothing. One day I answer & I heard very unprofessional people in the background & finally I heard the voice of a man say, "Life's a b***h." I was afraid of who it may be but I'm just relieved to not be the only one getting their calls!

These scumbags have called me SIX times today.  I have nothing to do with citicorp nor any debts to any credit card companies/financial institutions.  How can I get these bastards off my back without wasting my dime or my airtime?  Or a stamp, for that matter.

This number has called 5 times today, Whenever I call it back I get this number is disconnected. how frustrating.
