This is definitely a legitimate number for Aetna's headquarters in Hartford, CT. I am a vendor for Aetna and one of my main contacts just called me from this number.

Aetna seems to subcontract out a service for a "health counselor". That implies you are dealing with a company which was given your name and number by Aetna, and not with Aetna themselves. The third party company should not be getting your number unless you checked off the box on the Aetna website or in some other way "opted into" the program. And of course, since this is an outside company then next week this number might be used to call for some other marketing program for some other company. However, this week it does seem to be legitimately from an Aetna subcontractor. It also is not the number to which you call back, so it might well be a secondary subcontract to an outbound auto dialer.

I got this call and they said my name and asked if they were correct, I said yes and then they hung up
It has been bothering since yesterday. No mention of a Etna at all.

It is a legit telephone number. It was a nurse case worker from Aetna calling to check on me.

call from Aetna insurance (my company health insurance) regarding a free voluntary health counselor program provided as a no-charge benefit. It's legit.

Received a call from this number, and they left a message stating very clearly that they were calling from Aetna regarding free additional benefits that come with my (stated my employer's name) company insurance. Seemed very legit to me. They left an 800 number for me to call them back if i was interested in hearing additional information about the courtesy benefits i receive with my company insurance.

I got this call and Aetna showed up in my caller ID. An automated voice asked for my date of birth. Since I was at the doctors yesterday, I gave it, since I thought that there was a problem with the insurance. But I was suspicious and did not give my phone number (didn't they call me?) Eventually, the line went dead. What is this about? Can't Aetna prosecute someone for using their caller ID?

I got a call saying it was from Fedex asking for a Kevin...When I call back, I get a message that it is Aetna.

Think someone's hijacked this number, just got a call from it today where the woman said she was from fedex and wanted to know if I was happy with their service

So you really have no idea who it was. And you gave them a valid fax#? Get ready to be bombarded with junk faxes!

Wanted to verify our company's demographic information, and started by saying our Tax ID number. I stated that I'm not comfortable giving it out over the phone. She said she would send a fax instead, and asked what number to send it to, and to who's attention. This I gave her, but I still have a bad feeling about it.
We normally do business with Aetna, but we supply them with updated information every year. I don't see why they would be calling for it.

They asked for me by my first name. I did not recognize the number so I asked if I could take a message. They said it was from Aetna and left a number for me to call...which I did not write down because I have no idea why Aetna would be calling me, and they did not say Aetna US Health Care...just Aetna.

Caller says it's just a courtesy call from Aetna, then proceeds to ask for my date of birth. Red flag! So I ask, "what's this about? I don't know of any business I have with Aetna." I can hear her flipping through some papers, then she mentions a nursing home that happens to be in my area, but I have never been a patient there. I say, "you must have the wrong person," and she says "Sorry!" and quickly hangs up. Was this a scam attempt, or just an honest mistake?

Its an automated voicemail message from AETNA, and they left a separate call back number
