They tried to hustle me into a job but upon my third call I realized it was for Kirby Vacuums. They claim they are located out of Glastonbury but wanted me to drive to Norwich for an Interview. Everyone can add these numbers to the list:

Before checking into "GP Industries" my son saw an ad on the craigslist for full time work.  The ad never described the work description in detail.  My son calls and gets an interview 30 mins later.  After his interview he comes home and says "Dave" the interviewer told him the job was to assemble and disassemble vacuums, that he would manage others under him and to wear a shirt and tie everyday.  Starting salary $50,000 a year.   Not bad for an 18 year old first job huh.   Then within the next 30 min.  Dave calls my son back telling him he liked his smile and handshake and that he liked him more then anyone else that came in for interviews.  He asked him to start the next day wearing his shirt and tie for orientation.   Now I know my son is likable, but I immediately searched into GP and found all kinds of people saying they are scammers. That what they really are looking for are people to get in there to sell their vacuums using your own personal car and without paying for your gas. Yeah you have to "assemble and disassemble"  the over priced $2000 Kirby vacuums as your demonstrating them to potential buyers.!!  My son called Dave back and asked him, can you tell me specifically what the job would entail.  Dave once again says he would assemble and disassemble vacuums.  My son asks would I have to use my car?   Dave says yes sometimes.  My son asks is this a sales job?  Dave says sometimes.......finally my son told him off and hung up.   Beware of this crap.  Im so glad he didnt waste any more time or gas driving back to this j***off.

VESS, Learn to spell before you chastise people for being annoyed, also since EVERY other website with reviews or comments about GP industries of Norwich contains comments of the same nature, I'm willing to bet that it is one huge scam. I called today about a craigslist ad they had posted looking for employees, and the person I talked to made no mention of Kirby vacuums or having to meet any quotas. After everything I have read even some things including the mans name who i spoke with, and the same phone number I called, I'm definitely thinking twice about even wasting my gas to drive all the way out there from New Haven.

thats awsme clover! they really r just doing their job. if u dont want the phone call -just dont pick up!!!!! instead of sitting  on this website ,might as weell watch the discoverie channel and learn something. the tlemarketing industry feeds thousands of peoples familys. some of the people that  sit here and write its a scam, actually annoy me because they do the same thing to me but in a diffrent way. if they r a mechanic, the exhaust pipe they changed cost them 40$ but they charge me 400$!!!  beware scam!!!!!! if they r a doctor the minute u open your throat and say ,aaaah so they can check it,100$ is on your bill. beware!!!!! scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so all the complainers about telemarketers from kirby, quit bitchin and start pitchin. if u were smart u might actually pick up the phone and get a free carpet shampooe instead of paing someone to do the same job...

Just received a call from 860-887-4473 - GP Industries - telling me that I was the lucky winner of a drawing in my town.  I won either a free rug cleaning or floor polishing for one room but if I booked today they would do two rooms for free.  Glad I did a Google search!  What a scam!

Connecticut distributors of Kirby, 500 Norwich Ave, Norwich, CT 06360, the state of CT just fined them $25,000 please see http://www.theconsumerchronicle.com/2011/06/1 ... ints-penalties/

Have sent them a letter asking them is their staff that would show up at the house are insured and bonded.  Also stated I needed a copy of the paperwork prior to them showing up.  Your going to let someone in your house or office that you don't know with equipment.  If they get injured or break or damage something what is your recourse?

I made the mistake of letting my friend give them my name as a reference after he bought one. I thought they would call and I would tell them I'm not interested and that would be it. I was wrong, whenever they call me they are very polite but they just don't get it. It's annoying and it frustrates me I just ignore the call on my cell. They give up for a while and it starts back up again.

Hello everyone. My name is Crystal and I actually work at GP Industries: Kirby of Norwich. I'm sorry that everyone here has had such bad experiences with them. I am a Dealer (person who comes over to demonstrate) and I hope that while a dealer is in your home they are not trying to push you to buy anything. We are there to show you the product and should you like it you may buy it. If you have any problems with a pushy dealer in the future, I urge you to ask to speak to the manager when they call in and tell the manager about the dealer you are with. I am on here on my own time not on company time trying to swindle you all into liking us. Also I have no idea what the call center is like. I know they have 5 telephones one per tele and I would assume that is why there are a few different numbers. I hope you don't shun all of us because of a few bad experiences.

It's a Kirby dealer. I used to work for these people. They lie to there workers and they'll lie to you. I was trained, I know. They come in and show you the Kirby ( and it does a good job ) but they tell you about how they want to sell it to win their contest, which has such a high quota nobody ever really wins it. Then they show you a price sheet that says it costs $2000 and payment options. $2000 is stupid, they will sell it for as little as 800 bucks if you say that's all you'll do. And if you want payments you tell them no money down, no payments for 3 months and they'll do that, there desperate. But in the end, be nice to the salesperson that comes over, there just doing there job. But hey, want off the list???? Want them to leave if there already there? Tell them you love it but your fighting a forclosure on your home. They'll run like hell.

It's GP Industries - a distributor for the KIRBY vacuum company.  They want to give you a "free cleaning" (home demonstration) to try and sell you a vacuum.  Do it for a good cocktail party story - but be ready for at least 3-5 hours of your time wasted - they'll say only 90 minutes. They have no capacity to remove you from their list.  Disorganized and archaic setup - reps. use pencils and little sheets of paper.  Good luck trying to get removed.  Eventually somebody gets through to the right person after the 14th or 15th time after you told them to remove you to finally be removed but - guess what - the calls started again after 3 months!!!  Unbelievable these people!

This number - 860-859-9290 - originates from Norwich, CT and the offices of Kirby Vacuum Cleaners there. I actually own a Kirby and it's a pretty good machine. But - these people are really annoying, old-school, high pressure sales people. I've gotten several calls from this number and as others have pointed out, they never leave a message. I told them to put me on thier "do not call list" but we'll see what happens.
