Here's an idea M. Gauthier.  Why don't you and the rest of your ilk take some proactive steps and actually have someone on the other end of the line when you call us and interrupt our day.  No malicious intent my A$$.  I charge 500$ for every phone survey I complete and I require 3 months booking and full payment in advance.  If I ask you not to call and you call anyway, isn't that rude?  Do you realize that we are entitled under common law to fine you (the principle) and the person who calls (the agent) up to 1000$ each for each call I receive after asking for no more calls?  Of course you don't because you think we are all sheep.  We the sheep are waking up and will soon become wolves.  Now F*&* Off

I don't know where they got my cell phone number from but obviously they have ways.  The last company that I dealt with regarding unsolicited calls was very happy to comply with my wish to have my number added to there internal do not call list, especially when I threatened to fine them 1000$ (500 for each agent and princpal) for each additional call.  I just did the same thing with probit, let's see how that works out.

I'm not sure if it's legal, but I'm damned sure it's lawful and we live in a common law jurisdiction.

They phoned on my husband's cell, which is very odd because it is a secondary number on our account, so I  wouldn't think that a number generator would come up with it. But that is neither here nor there. As suggested by both other callers and Probit, I went on their website and entered both of our cell phone numbers. And time will tell the story, so I will let you know if it works or not :-)

This is a F*cking useless Canadian company(probably govt supported and wasting taxpayer money) staffed by @holes for their own nefarious purposes.

Fight Back! The easiest way to do so is to buy the latest Panasonic phone that has "Call Blocking" feature built right into the phone. The next time these @holes call you, simply add them to the "Bolcked Callers" list and you won't be bothered by that number again.

If you have an Andriod cell phone, simply add the number to the "Blocked Callers" list and never listen to these @holes again.

Got an i-Phone? Simply add their number to the "Blocked CAllers" list as well and you are done with them.

F*CK Them and any company who operates with harassing phone calls.
These F*ckers hate it when you use technology to fight back. So go ahead and kick them all in the friggin' balls!

Survey
Received a number of calls from "probit.ca". I've never answered in hopes they'd stop calling.
Here is a blurb from their website a www.probit.ca

"Probit Called Me

Probit dials large survey samples in support of both our Interactive Voice Response (IVR) methodology and interviewer-assisted methodology.

If you were called and wish to follow-up on that call, please call us at 1.855.288.4932 or email us at inquiries@probit.ca.  When calling, be prepared to indicate to the responding agent the telephone number we called you at (so that you can be found in the system).

If you wish to be removed from our calling list, please list the telephone number(s) below and press send.  Once the number(s) is sent we will permanently add it to our internal "Do Not Call List" (your request will be processed within approximately 24 hours).

We thank you very much for your cooperation.

Kind regards,
Probit Inc."
I wonder if they actually do remove your number from their calling list?

Once again, I got a call this evening from this company. Phone number is 1-866-211-8881. My caller ID says it's from "Probit". I don't know who they are and I would like them to stop calling me. I never answer their calls and they never leave a message in my voice mail. I live in Montréal, Canada, and I've tried to find out where this company is from but learned that the area code 866 isn't a "where," it's a "what." That's right, 866 is not assigned to a geographic region. It's a toll-free number, just like the classic 1-800 prefix. I wish I could do something to stop them from calling me. It's so abusive.

Hi there,

Elliott Gauthier here.  If you wish to have your number added to Probit?s internal do-not-call-list (blocks us calling for not only the survey we were calling about in the first place, but for future surveys as well), please call the toll free number we listed on the call display back (in this case, 866.211.8881) and, at the tone, leave the number you want added.  We have staff that monitor this line daily and update our do-not-call-list accordingly.  Calling me directly at the number listed by this person on this blog is not the most efficient way.  The number listed is my personal home number.  It is not monitored like the business numbers we have and your message may not be returned as promptly.  You can also call me directly, at the office, at 613.288.2102 (although long distance charges will apply).  You can email me directly, at egauthier@probit.ca or email the more general box at autonomous@probit.ca and leave your number for removal.  The boasting of the person here on this blog, who listed my personal home phone number, is not accurate.  We added his numbers to our do-not-call-list as promptly as we would have if he called us at the office.  His tactics of calling my home at mid-night (eastern time) over and over again and being rude and aggressive when we eventually answered, is not effective, and seems to run contrary to the spirit of honest people like yourselves who do not want to be bothered at home.  Irony?  Perhaps.  We appreciate that some people do not want to participate in our research; we respect that.  We randomly generate phone numbers in known geographic spaces and invite people to join the discourse and voice their opinions about the survey topic we're in field about.  There is no malicious intent.  We appreciate everyone's opinion, including those who wish to be not bothered, which is why we maintain an active and comprehensive internal do-not-call-list, which we do voluntarily (we are not regulated to do so).  We respect all industry research standards in our survey field collection practices, as well as federal telecommunications practices.  We hope that anyone who wishes we remove their number from our survey calling now has a comprehensive list of our various points of contact.

Many thanks, Elliott Gauthier, Probit.

I did some research on probit and the (1-866-211-8881) phone number and found that Elliott Gauthier is very willing to take you off of the do not call list if you call him and ask. (Works really good if you call him at midnight just like he does to us!)  You can reach him directly at 1-613-562-3288.  I hope this helps.

Ok - these idiots keep calling me - on my cell phone.  I answered once and a computer voice tells me it is a research call and the question is ' Is this number a cell phone or home phone?"

WTF !!!!!  They should know my phone is a cell phone.  All call marketers have a cell phone do not call list.  What a bunch of idiots operating falsely under 'research'.

You really shouldn't post your phone number on a forum like this.

It is now posted for other scammers to see.

Nothing negative happened.  It was a detailed survey gathering information for the next provincial election. It took over 30 minutes to fill out.

Survey
I received a call from 18552884925 tonight.  The automated message said that, if I filled out my NS government survey at www.probit.ca/ns, I would be entered into a draw to win $500.  The website itself says $1,000 and 1 of 2 iPads.  I believe that probit.ca is legit, I'll fill out the survey.  I'll post again if anything negative happens.
