They have called me three times so far. Everytime, they hang up when I answer. I call back, they say "this is personX with FIA Card Services, before I can continue this call for security purposes, can I have your social security number please?"
I said I wasn't going to give it to them, they asked for my date of birth, I said no, so they hung up....

Sounds like a scam to me. DONT GIVE IN!

I don't owe anyone and I'm receiving calls.  I'm betting they are trying to sell additional services like credit protection or fraud protection.  I am on the Do Not Call registry both National and State.  The law says that a company who you have an existing relationship with is allowed to call and solicit you unless you formally request them not to.  Opt Out is the term.  I would call BOA and ask them how to "Opt Out".  On a side note:  Since this is a division of BOA you could challenge their right to call and solicit.  You could probably file legal action against the company and while you might not be awarded anything it would cost them a fairly stiff $20,000 penalty.  I recommend answering the phone if you are home and then asking them to remove you from their calling list.  No need to get rude with them - Thankfully they are employing Americans while most companies are laying off!

Do NOT talk to them this is a SCAM. I know because I closed out my Bank of America Credit Card in July 2009.  I have no outstanding balance and I have not received any more account statements from them since my July 2009 pay-off. I have however, started getting calls from this number in late September 2009.  The person will ask for my personal information and they will give me  the last 4 digits of my destroyed card number trying to verify they are legitimate but they will not provide me with any recent activity so that I can find out if my old card number has been stolen. I called the company and had them fax me forms showing the account was closed and there was no balance due.

According to FIA Card Services, at 800-655-1491, the 866-252-1249 number does belong to their company.  It is legitimate.  Pay your bills on time and they won't call you.  So; I don't know who "am" spoke with; the woman I spoke with verified a correct number for me.

This is NOT the customer service number for FIA card services. Call FIA at their actual customer service number which is 800-655-1491 and ask them about this number 866-252-1249. It is a scam. They are trying to get your soc # and other info to steal your id. FIA confirmed this.

Stop calling people deadbeats just because you assume this is a legit debt collector when they definitely are not. How about doing some research before spouting off about paying your bills on time?

By the way, I did a quick google for FIA and it turns out that FIA Card Services is the name used by Bank of America and MBNA after they merged. If you are getting calls from them, it's because you owe them money. Talk to them and set up a plan for payment.

annette - I believe you. Still, learn how to use apostrophes and question marks. You also have a tendency to use periods where you are supposed to use commas. It's "asked" not "asks." "What happened" instead of "what happen" is standard. "To whoever claiming to be the client" is not a construction that a native speaker would use. If you are communicating with the public, the way you speak or write affects how the public percieves you and your company.

Annette - if you are representing this company, please try to use better grammar and spelling!  No wonder people think this company is a scam.  Your grammar and sentence structure leads one to believe that you are not from this country.

those who are not working in fia card services should never judge what this company is. where are your brains people. they have all your secured information like your ssn and date of birth and your complete card number. you are only asks for those info for privacy purposes. its a collection company. it wont give out info to whoever claiming to be the client. if you want to report this number. i want to see you try. and by the way. give us an update on what happen on your report. did it get you anywhere.and try to make a payment with them try to look if it wont reflect in your next month billing statement.

This is definitely a scam company, some how they have the last 4 digits of yours or your kids credit card number and the name on of the card holder, then they tell you that this is a follow up call to remind you that you did not make your payment last month and you need to pay $ amount to bring it to current status and up to date by trying to get your payment by phone with a check. DO NOT provide any info to these scammers…( call your c card bank right away  and you will be  surprised). If they get hold of your checking account number .you probably can figure the rest…..

I ignored the call, and then called the number back to see if they had a recording that would say their name. It did. FIA Card Services, whatever that is.
