When you answer the phone there is no one there - do these people not have their copy of the 'no call list" yet?

You can call back this number and be put on Sears Do Not Call List. All done through voice service, so you do not have to speak to anyone.

I've been getting calls from this number almost every day for the past 3 weeks even though my number is on the Do Not Call list. I haven't answered and I'm not going to and the only message they leave is a busy signal. Gimme a break, already!

A big thanks to the post from Kissme who provided the best advice about this caller. I'll relate my own experiences with the 888.882.3811 army of perky drones Sears has hired.
They called once, Oct. 2 (3:29). Called twice, Oct. 7 (3:25, 5:14). Called three times, Oct. 8 (2:22, 3:31, 3:57). Not once did they call after 7:00 p.m., as I requested when I answered the first four calls, so that they could speak to my partner, the Sears cardholder legible for the long distance "savings" they said we couldn't get from Bell. On the second-to-last call (just over an hour later than the previous call), I lost it and requested that they remove our number from the call list. The diabetes-inducing cheerleader on the phone informed me that it could take up to 31 days before that list is updated. End of story, right?
Nope. They called again 25 minutes later. I didn't pick up.
So, Sears can hire a phone marketing firm with callers who have the relentless persistence of The Terminator, yet can't find one person to update a frickin' list for 31 days?
Sears, buddy, howsabout cutting the expense of telephone marketing and hire someone to answer the phone at your store locations for customers who need to find out if a product is in stock. Employment goes up, customers are happy, and people can stay in their own homes with less disruption.
*Sigh*

thank you to this site for pointing out who the culprit was. after getting called something like 7 times in a 4 days period, I was getting annoyed. Hopefully this do not call list will actually do something.

Started calling me three days ago and I haven't answered. I Googled the number to see who it was and ended up here.
If they say they are calling for Sears and you do have an account with Sears, then they are within their right to call you. The Do Not Call List won't help you. https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/faqs-eng
"When you register on the National DNCL, you will receive fewer telemarketing calls, but there are some exceptions including:
* registered charities
* political parties and candidates
* opinion polling firms or market research firms conducting surveys
* newspapers calling to sell a subscription
* organizations that have a business relationship with you, for example:
a) you?ve done business with the organization in the last 18 months
b) you?ve inquired about the organization?s products or services in the last 6 months"
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate telemarketers. You may have to tell Sears not to give your personal information to any third parties AND to be taken off of their call lists.

Look at the first line after the bullet points.
