Frequent calls.  Upon calling back, their number is disconnected.  They are some sort of directory seeking information.  They do not identify themselves, but begin by asking if you live at this address and want it verified.  This is information that is none of their business, particularly if they cannot identify themselves and cannot be found after the call.  They refuse to stop.  I have filed with FCC.  You should do same.

866-288-1590 keeps calling claiming to be Verizon - won't leave us alone and always trying to trick us into saying "yes" to anything possibly to use to their advantage.  Call multiple times per day every day.

I am so tired of these phone calls. This one claims to be updating directory information...only thing is, they just called me last week for the same thing. I told them to remove our number from their solicitation list...let's hope it works.

Always answer these types of calls - they have to pay for completed call.  Keep them talking as long as possible with fake info so they have to pay more.

I am getting calls from this number every ten minutes and it just hangs up. Driving me crazy!!!

Someone from this company called about a week ago asking for my husband's business. He was unavailable, so I attempted to answer his questions. The questions were about his business number and what the business does. He spoke extremely broken English and I couldn't understand some things, so I asked him to repeat his question and he started over! I informed him that I didn't have time to answer the questions so he would have to call back another time.  Five minutes later someone identifying himself as a supervisor called to ask if someone had offended me. I told him the problem and repeated the fact that my husband was unavailable and I did not have time to talk to anyone.  Today someone from that number has called six times. I finally answered and asked that they call back next week when my husband will be available. Five minutes later another person called and I told her that I wanted to speak to a supervisor. She hung up on me. When I called the number back, I got a recording that it was regarding a survey and that they have gone on to someone else. I hope that is true.

Filed a complaint with the FTC.  Here's the # 877-382-4357.  You need to navigate the automated system, but in the end the complaint is filed for the phone number you are calling about.  No information is given on how long it takes.  Hope this works!

This is terribly annoying -- calls about 4-5 times a day.  AT&T can't do anything, Do Not Call can't do anything .... trying FTC!

A previous post suggested the source as Verizon. Does Verizon offer a vanity toll free service?

Of course if they are intercepting submission from a website like this, then they could get your computer ID too!

I am having the same problem.  It rings and when you answer they hang up.  Then if you try to call it back it will not ring or anything.

Finally decided to answer after ignoring many calls from them. Spoke to a woman whose accented English was difficult to understand on a very poor connection. She actually had the name of a company I was formerly associated with. I said this company is closed, it doesn't exist anymore. She said "Oh, it's already closed?" I said yes, please take me off your list. She said "Okay, thank you for taking my call."

Wow, you're right.  
It's Verizon calling 8 times per day.
That's intolerable.

Hello everyone. Our business also gets 5 to 6 calls per day and this is an abused that needs to stop. I was able to looked it up at this website and found out it was VERIZON!!!!

This number 888-288-1590 called four times in one hour time frame on 02/26/10 claiming they provided research information for Yahoo and Google. Hung up when we requested their name and company name. Very ugly boiler plate business

Had an experience with this company every year. They scam you for directory listing that ends up on my att business phone bill. I had to have att put a block on all scammer that use this form of fraud.

Continuing calls from this number. No message ever left. Do not ID themselves.

I am having the same problem.  It rings and when you answer they hang up.  Then if you try to call it back it will not ring or anything.

I get at least 6 calls a day from this number.  when I answer it just hangs up.  I have tried calling it but it never rings, it just goes into a silent mode. calling the phone compamy did not help either.

I just received yet another call from this number. They always hang up after the answering machine picks up. Next time, I will pick up the phone and engage the caller to extract as much information about who they are,

Most of the time I've refused the call (pressed END before connecting), but it's a waste of my time. They call more than once a day. The one time I answered the woman did not identify herself before asking (in a voice that might be speaking English as a second language) if I was still located at such-and-such an address.

I made the mistake of thinking it WAS Verizon, which is my home land line provider -- which I might have allowed to make phone calls to me -- so the FCC complaint came back to me saying it wasn't a violation of the law. I'm filing a new complaint with no mention of Verizon etc.

Online Green Directory.  I told them they were in violation of Federal Law, and that I intended to report them to the Federal Trade Commission (because I'm on the NO-CALL list), which I did.  I think that scared them.  Please take a few seconds to report them, because the FTC won't do anything unless they get a lot of complaints.

How many people try to call this number back to find out who it is?
They could sell the private ID to someone.
