I just bought my car a little over a month ago and bought and bought it as a certified pre-owned with a very extended warranty on it.  I had ingorned the first mailing and today I just received the second one.  I never purchase anything without researching the company first.  I was glad to run into this site along with several others where I am reading the same stuff on these companies.  So yeah, I am definitely not going to worry about this and just report it to the police and my car dealership.  Thank you everyone for your comments and I will help to pass the word along.  cheers!

I received two similar letters to the mentioned above just a few weeks after I bought my car. Thus, I went to Google to see what is written about this suspicious and strange mail.

Now, I feel much better after reading the above comments.

I received a notice in the mail today from these scammers.  They now call themselves Vehicle Assurance and are located at 2747 W. Clay, St. Charles, MO 63301.  The number on the notice is 1-866-341-9255.  I Googled the address and it shows their name as Warranty Assurance and are located in the same building as a few MD's and a DDS and others.  I bought a used vehicle that had no warranty on it and paid cash.  I reported the mail to the USPS Inspector on the USPS website.  There is a form to fill out.  This is the second business like this that I have reported this month and plan to report every one I get from now on.  I previously just shredded them.

I got one of these letters tonight....they must have given up on calling me, and now they send me unmarked mail.  No company name, no return address, nothing but a phone number.  I hope they threaten me with a fine...because I will pursue legal action.  I have told them to stop calling me, informed them that I am on the national do not call register, and still they call!  I hope they realize that for every call I get 24 hours after I notify them about being on that list, is worth $5000 per incident in court.  I should be able to pay my entire car off early and not even worry about the warranty at this rate! :)

We had some fun with them today... I had paid for the warranty and hadn't got the packet yet but my car broke down lol.  So, they put me through to Customer Service and she asked what company it was through  I turned and was like 'they have more than one company!?" so I said I couldn't remember which one and had her list them... Warranty Assurance, National Auto and... she said "um... I think US... Fidelis?"  lol @ making it seem like the well-known name is the one she's unsure of.  The first call they let me set up a warranty off a fake name with the number off the letter I got in the mail... they would waive the vehicle inspection if I activated it today lol.  Also, he asked for my checking info and I "didn't have it" so he wanted the acct # so he could call my bank and get the routing number.  How dumb do these fools think people are?  If they actually are, by some miracle, a legit company they definitely don't operate like they are.

The person who stated that they are an employee is probably one of the owners of the company.  Much tot he dismay of the public, there are companies out there that collect your information when you register a vehicle and then "sell" your name to people like this for a price.  It's the most basic form of "data mining" and it is (unfortunately) not in any way illegal.

However, I do agree that this particular company is intentionally being deceitful by "pretending" that this mailing is "somehow" related to your actual vehicle when in fact it has NOTHING to do with any EXISTING coverage.  Rather, they are simply blasting their mass-mailings out to EVERYONE on such a list.  The best thing to do is to simply ignore these and add them to the circular file as most of these do in fact charge MUCH MORE than the price you can get from the dealership (after negotiation).  The other thing about companies like this one is that they are typically not monitored nor are there any restrictions on them.  They can (and most DO) take your money and then when you go to file a claim, they are nowhere to be found as about 95% of them end up going out of business or filing bankrupcy and then the people who bought the policies are OUT OF LUCK.  Do yourself a favor and ONLY buy extended warranties from REPUTABLE companies that actually provide their name on their advertising and can be cross checked for fraud BEFORE you have to call.

To the person above who identified him/herself as an employee - you are not an employee, you are a criminal.  How do you wake up in the morning and live with the fact that you and your "company" rip off innocent people?  Do the world a favor and set the building on fire like Milton did in Office Space.  Only instead of running off to a remote island, stay in the building and burn along with it.  I bet your mom wouldn't even care.

Last Week my wife got a call from 1-866-341-9255 (John). She ask me what I thought. Knowing this sounded wrong from the get go I told her NO. Hang up on John. 2500.00 for an extended warranty. This guy was out of his mind. At the purchase of her jeep I got the extended warranty. I think I will call them tomorrow for a little fun. I hate it for people who are taken by these morons.

We just bought a used vehicle as well, and I got 3 solicitations the same day: 800-713-3679, 866-341-9255, and 866-955-3609.  It's all B.S.  You are better off buying from a dealership.  My husband works at a dealership, and he and his employees are frequently having to tell customers that the after-market "warranty" they bought doesn't cover the work they're needing done. Needless to say, the customers are ticked off, and rightfully so.  Always ask questions, even at the dealership, and don't sign something unless you know what you're getting and are comfortable with it.

To Faith:  They probably got the info from the DMV or whomever issues the title and license plates for your state.  It's public record and there isn't much you can do about it.

It's too funny.  I just purchased a used vehicle one month ago and so far, I've received two official letters of a Final Notice.  Hummmm......  So, I see a phone number on the notice and tried to do a reverse phone lookup.  Oh, there is such a number but it's private.  You have to pay to see who the number belongs to.  I then proceeded to do a search on "Motor Vehicle Services".  I got a lot of names listed that are validated with Addresses and etc. but none for just "Motor Vehicle Services".

Thank goodness I didn't give up.  I found a website with instructions on how to do a google search on the phone number and this page popped up.  After reading everything listed above, I see this is a scam.  Why would they not put their address on the Notice?  Why is there not a cost associated with the extended coverage and why is there no reference to the vehicle I purchased?  Funny things, they put a transfer unit of 4x4.  My vehicle doesn't have 4x4.  HaHaHa!!!

Anyone that does not research this would be silly to just call.

I just got one in the mail. With the same phone number on it. It says my warranty is about to expire. I don't have a warranty on my vehicle. How the crap do these people get our addresses or phone numbers. It's getting to be aqnnoying. I've gotten this letter before, but I just threw it away. Any suggestions how to stop it?

I just had some changes to my insurance right around the two year mark of buying my car and I've recieved two of these notices within a week. They look pretty official so I called and asked if they were officially associated with the car company and I got some vague answer. Then when I started to ask another question the guy rudely asked if I wanted the warranty, then pretty much hung up on me when I said I needed some more info about what the company was all about.

No big deal, the world needs people to answer phones all day as much as we need ditch diggers.

My daughter bought a 2003 Mercury from her grandfather for cash.  The only people that would have info on this transaction are AAA (for insurance), the DMV, and Fifth Third Bank (where she originally applied for a loan).  Now she is getting notices in the mail from "Mercury * Ford * Lincoln Motor Vehicle Services saying that the factory warranty is going to expire.  There is no factory warranty on the car.  My question is "how did they find out she bought the car when only the above persons know about the transaction?"  Where do they get their information?

I got 2 mailers within 2 weeks, after buying my used car, with my car information on them. Yeah, i bought the extended warranty on my car.. what was better, was before this car i had nothing but a bicycle.. they still wanted to sell me an extended warranty.

2 mails 2 phone numbers all the rest of the info is the same:
866-341-9255 and 800-713-3679

If you want an extended warranty go to the manufactures dealer ship. Not some company that uses legal but generic sounding name and information to sucker you into a sale.

Yes, Hi guys just to clear things up... sorry about your negative experience Scott. We are not here to scam anyone. We are simply a company that sells extended warranties. Compared to our competition we are very competitive with the pricing. That is exactly what most dealerships in the country charge for warranties. We just follow the current labor rates. Liz, I am sorry the notice scared you as well. The part of the notice you are referring to is for the protection of your information. It states that tampering with the mail is a two thousand dollar fine. Pretty common with most companies that send mailings. It is your choice on whether you would like to get the coverage.  Just like State Farm or All State protect you on accidents, we protect you from breakdowns. But please understand it is just an offer. It is not required by law and you are not required to respond to the notice.

Received unsolicited mail from motor vehicle services with this phone number saying there would be a $2000 fine if this was ignored.  It was for a extended warranty, but no where referenced my specific vehicle.  i know it's a scam sure wish someone could do something - guess that's what Chrysler is doing with their bail out money.
